Hungry Clone The thing with getting an animal from a pet store supports them. Haven't you seen the cute little puppies in the pet store? DONT BUY THEM! They come from puppy mills. Puppy mills are horrible places where dogs are in very small cages, unhealthy, and never go outside. The female dogs are usually bred to death. The puppies that are born at puppy mills go to pet stores. When you buy a puppy from a pet store your supporting the puppy mills. if you want to know more about puppy mills you should look them up and one more thing, there was a dog that drank from a RABBIT WATER BOTTLE FOR 7 YEARS! This completely destroyed her jaw! Some nice Samaritan rescued her and she lived another happy 5 years. I hope you don't buy another animal from a pet store again. Please respond
@@familyobringer8299 well, I bought my bunny in the pet store. I just couldn't help it, she had a really small cage with two bunnies. Now she has enough space and enough love, so she's happy 💕
@@joannakrowicka6228Krowicka I know it's hard but being in a small cage isn't that bad. It's not like it was about to die or anything, I hope you understand. (P.S. do you have a hedgehog)
“Just because it says for rabbits, doesn’t mean it’s for rabbits” Amen. Like large running wheels for chinchillas with a picture of Guinea pigs on them. Not only do they not use it, but their spines are very fragile and can’t bend the same way and they can very well break their back.
I made all kinds of mistakes when I got my rabbit when I was a kid. Unfortunately it was pre-internet so we didn't know all the things we were supposed to do. We had an outside hutch with a metal mesh floor. We fed our bun pellets and used a water bottle. In fact we never got our bun neutered nor ever fed him hay in his life. We didn't even know he was a he... it wasn't until much later that I realized the pink pads on his underside meant he was a he. I so wish I could go back in time and raise him like Lennon. He was such a sweet perfect bun and didn't deserve how he was mistreated because of our poor knowledge. I am glad you made a video like this to help new rabbit owners.
Trader Dave Same. I really wish I could go back and give my bunny more love than what I did for her. There was internet, just that I was a kid and thought itd be simple to take care of a rabbit. I really wish I couldve searched things and learn more about my rabbit. But the moment I dont have a rabbit, I started to search up so many things I never knew. I really wish to go back in time to retake care of her again. ❤♡
Saphire Boop I can certainly relate. Yes I was just a kid... and yes we didn't have internet back then... but I still feel guilty for not taking better care of such a wonderful bunny. As kids do... we have all these other interests and concerns that distract us and don't think about if we are providing a happy life for our pets. The thing that made it so bad was when we moved the bunny's hutch got moved WAY WAY far from the house... and he would get forgotten... he was so far separated from the family. If he had been in the house in the basement I would have seen him every day and noticed him paying attention to him giving him the love and affection he so needed and deserved. I wish desperately that I had him back to do everything over again and do it the right way to make him the happiest bunny ever.
Trader Dave Well at least we know now incase we do get a bunny in the future. And this time, I'll make sure to not repeat my mistakes and give them a proper home.
saphire Boop I have tried to make up for it the best I can helping others know how better to make their bunny's lives happier and not make the same mistakes I did. I also have added tributes to my bunny in my books, drawing and writing. I hope to get a bonded pair of buns in the future when I can properly care for them and fulfill that promise to make them the happiest buns possible.
Trader Dave Wow. Kind of a coincidence, I do that as well, mainly in my drawings and one story I did. And when my friends talk about wanting a rabbit as a pet, I make sure to tell them everything they should do for a rabbit healthy lifestyle. It's really good that you help people incase they might not know how to care for them.
Heres a tip: If your bunny is not drinking its water try putting a slice of apple or banana in the water for a minute or two, take the treat out of the water and this will make the water taste like a treat and that will make your rabbit more willing to drink water! WARNING! Do not do this every time you give your bunny water as that can cause your furbaby to gain un-necessary weight. If your bunny refuses to drink water for even 2 days without the treat trick bring them to the vet as they will know what to do and help you from there. The treat trick is just a temporary thing until you can get your bunny to the vet.
Thanks to you, I did NOT make those mistakes 😊 We recently adopted an adorable lionhead from the humane society and we had her ex pen, litter box, toys and hide house all set up before we even adopted her. She is a really happy bun and receives free roam time when we get home from work and unlimited hay! Thank you Lennon and Lorelai for the extremely helpful videos!!
My parents stupidly bought a rabbit for me when I was 6, even though they knew we wouldn’t be able to provide it with a nice, healthy life. She ended up staying in a wire cage, getting too much food and little water. I felt terrible when I realized how bad of a job we were doing. She’s now living a much better life with someone that can provide her basic needs. ❤️

I've had lots of bunnies growing up. They are really easy pets to care for. Follow what this video shows and you will be fine. Main thing to look for are urinary infections. They are common.
Ashley A i actually made 80% of these mistakes with my bunny and it lives already 10 years, dont worry i dont say these mistakes dont matter but your bunny would be okay if you give it attention and love❤
Oh, you are so sweet, I did most of these mistakes cuz I was not educated about it, I bought my first rabbit when I was 7 and my second one when I was 10 but my second bunny died and when he died I started taking proper care and educating myself but it was too late, my first bunny died in 27 th october
I am THE WORST mom. I just got done crying during and after this video. I got Coco from some friends. He is 14 and I have read SO many articles and I thought I was doing such a great job. Not now!! Wow...ready for my punishment now. Time for some new changes. At least I got the food part right.
Robin Woosherlin I still give my it once and a while like maybe once or twice a year she enjoys playing tug of war with it 😄 I love my bunny and she does have one of those cages but I only put her in at night during the morning I let her out like a dog when you let them go out when U first wake up 🤣 lmfao and she stays out till late night when I got too sleep so maybe 2-7 (I don’t get much sleep) lol
I literally bought the exact large cage featured on this video. I also haven't had a bowl of water for my rabbit..just the bottle. I will be adding a bowl in the morning. Thank you for the insights.
We had two but one of them died when he was 4 months old :( also our other one used to chase him and was quite territorial (so we just give him loads of cuddles to keep him company)
I made so many mistakes lol but I was 12. I bought a rabbit from a pet store, it was on its own in a small cage, I didnt give it enough hay, gave it the salt chew lick thing, the waterbottle and the triangle litterbox.. etc But later he had a friend in a huge hutch with a water bowl and without all the weird other mistakes.
I remember when I first got my rabbit I got her at a flee market she was put in a small cage and the guy selling her sold them for 20 dollars and only told us that she needed water and pellets and when she got older I knew we had to get her a bigger cage but my parents never wanted to so she was stuck in the small cage she had since she was little (I was 11 when I got her) and I always took her out tho so I guess that’s good but she only lived to be 2 years old and I’m pretty sure cause she lived in such a small cage and my parents never let me do anything about it
I just started watching your videos tonight and the way I'm interacting with my bunny has already changed completely. I thought he didn't like me, turns out I've just been petting him wrong. The future is bright now.
I can't even imagine how many rabbits are suffering from peoples ignorance and not doing their proper research before they decide to "buy a cute little bunny". Poor babies!
@@NonAnonymousWeirdo same i feel bad because we got 2 rabbits. They had to live outside because I was like 6 or 7. I didnt have a phone yet so i didnt do any reaserch. Bow that im a bit older every animal i get, I do so much reasearch before and after. (Im like 5 years older now)
I bought my 3 baby bunnies today and just cleaned an old cage and put them there with food and water but I'm doing my research rn and I'm gonna get them a lot of stuff from the video.
When giving rabbits apple, *never* feed them the seed as they a cyanide in them.(which can kill rabbits). And I would recommend taking the skin off as it's sharp and could hurt their throats.
yesterday I rescued a bunny from the shelter. he was so sweet and the cage was so small, I knew I had to do something. i’m learning so much about these beautiful animals, and I’m so excited to give this baby a better life! as of now, he already seems so much happier 💗💗💗
I purposely bought a outside double story cage for both my rabbits to live in, however they can go in and out of the cage whenever they want. They are free range but have a hutch to go in!
I have a cage for my rabbit but I never lock him in he’s free to run around in his room that he has it’s just where he uses the bathroom and eats and drinks water 😁
I knew somebody with a bunny...they didn’t give them hay so I told them they should give them unlimited hay and these are the exact words they replied with “well wild bunnies don’t have unlimited hay do they?” *excuse me what*
I just got a bunny for my daughter thinking it would be “so cute” and now I have the equivalency of an infant that requires long stretches of daily exercise living in my home! 😭 I am glad I did lots of research and asked a lot of my rabbit mom friends their suggestions and I’m eternally grateful you made this video! Lots of people AND EVEN WORSE, PET STORES give so much of the wrong information. I learned very quickly that I didn’t need to spend over $100 on a grand rabbit hutch and that my bunny drank a multitude more water out of a bowl than she did out of that darned water bottle. Even so, I am still constantly learning more and more about my little girl everyday. Thank you and I thank Lennon also for making such a great, short piece of vital info for prospective and current and even past rabbit parents ❤️
@@GachaCCthere’s nothing wrong with buying rabbits because they’re cute?? as long as you take care of it correctly and don’t do the things said in the video it’s fine to get rabbits for whatever reason.
Jordan Singh don’t be, as long as you disinfectant them every 2 weeks or so with and animal safe method (we use glass bottles and put them in boiling water for about 5 minutes or so, than let them cool down for a few minutes) they’ll stay clean, all you have to do is let you rabbit run around freely (under supervision, of course), clean them and than you won’t have to worry about having your rabbit run out of (or tip over) their water if you’re gone. We can’t even use bowls because of how much our rabbits like to hop over stuff, they always knock down ceramic or metal bowls or chew through plastic ones, so we can only use bottles
@@jordansingh7780 I have the exact same problem as Still Homestuck. My bun likes to jump on things, he knocks poo into the water and ruins it, tips over any bowl he can, it's like he refuses to eat or drink without attempting to ruin the bowl first ha. I HAD to get a bottle, and he's had several vet checks since then and no problems. I got a big glass one so it's heavy, doesn't move easily, and cleans easily.
I use a water bottle but I took out the metal spout, keep it the rubber stopper mounted it inside (the cage they stay in while I’m at work) and put the bowl directly underneath so it fills to the rubber stopper and won’t overflow but keeps constant fresh water coming into the bowl
True that. I'm more into rats and aquariums today, growling at petstores for their wrong advices that only leads us to buy more while harming the animals. Wrong informations are being spread all over the place. Today i learned how much they also fucked up rabbits. What makes me sad is that i wont plan to get another pet rabbit in the future, it's just not my type of pet, and thinking about the only rabbits i owned had a "bad" life is... meh T-T
I want a rabbit but I have 2 dogs so that would be an immediate death sentence to a bunny and I would let that happen, especially since one of my dogs is a coonhound.
I just had a rabbit dropped off to my house and thank goodness I've been watching Lorelei and lennon, I feel like for now his space(to get settled) is just right for him.
holly all I can say is don’t listen to people who think rabbits are easy to take care for. In sense they are similar to small dogs and take as much care.
Sorry for ur loss I'm a rabbit breeder and I know exactly how u feel ,the first litter of my rabbits we're very young when they died ,they died at 6 days old ,I had to go through all of the pain of watching them take their last breath ,I hope that u recover from ur beloved rabbit's death and I'd like to say a nice poem for ur rabbit , Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust, If the devil don't take u then The angels must. And just to let u know I'm not religious ,I just like to send my animals off to heaven in a special way.☺👍👍
Sorry for your loss... I have two rabbs that are 3 yrs old, they're twins but look different and I'd be devastated if anything happened to em... Can't imagine the pain you must feel
When we are home my bunny’s cage is always open for him to leave and run and around freely but some days he happily sits there fully relaxed near the open door and doesn’t want to leave his cage and when you try and get him to leave he hides so actually I think it depends on what your bunny wants as his cage is his home and so his safe place and I don’t force him to leave if he doesn’t want too.
Lauren McKinlay not true. a bunny will be shy if forced to be in a cage because they can become depressed. it’s not up to you because it is horrible for a rabbit to be in cage
April’s Rabbit Care considering you haven’t met my bunny or his vet who can’t get over how relaxed he is around people and also how well he is looked after he is most definitely not shy or depressed. Some days he just likes his cage and sometimes he comes and wants to be picked up. Yes believe it or not he likes to be held, Ik this because he bunny purrs, nustles into me and his ears are completely back and relaxed, just like in his cage whenever I am near. If you know your bunny and their moods, like I do, then that’s the key for them to be happy and content, in or out their cage.
April’s Pet Care she clearly said her bunny lives free in the house but has a cage with an open door for whatever he wants to do there. How is she forcing him or depriving him of space? Duh.
yesterday my mom bought my brother a bunny just bc he wanted one. no research was done before hand and i’ve been the only one trying to make sure it’s happy and healthy UPDATE: the bunny died. my parents told me not to take care of it and he died:(
I have dwarf rabbits and every morning we let them out from their two story cage, and they can go anyway in the house. They also can go outside and enjoy fresh grass with tones of miles of land.
This is a good video. The only thing I have to add is that some people or their family work from home so they have time to check on the amount of hay in a smaller hay feeder like I used to.
I rescued my rabbit from a farm where he was severely neglected.. he was suffering from fly strike and horrible malnourishment so I took him to a vet and got their advice. He is now thriving and I named him after Lennon 🥺❤️
My rabbit never had a cage. I let her run around the apartment. She was very friendly and liked to jump up with me on the couch. She had a litter box, which she peed in, but she never pooped in it. I was constantly cleaning up pellets. A word of caution. If you let your rabbit run around free MAKE SURE THAT IT CAN'T GET TO ANY ELECTRICAL CORDS. I came home one day to find that my rabbit had chewed into the TV electrical cord and died. That was so stupid of me not to think of that. So, mistake #11.
If I want to cuddle my bunny I just lay down on the floor and pretend to be dead, and they would come and start happily jumping on my back or tummy and chewing my hair❣️❣️❣️🐇💖🐇
My bunny does not bond with other bunny’s. I adopted her from my aunt last year and she lived alone in a flat. But now she lives in a big outdoor hutch at night and in the day she lives in a large run with a bendy log stick bridge, a large hay rack, kale and other vegetables and I switch her toys every day. I’ve tried bonding her with other bunny’s but she’s very territorial so will not but I spend a lot of time with her in the day but she doesn’t like being touched often she only likes the presence of me. She only has a few pellets in her hutch over night. Should I try bonding her again (she is spayed so she is not as moody as she used to be) 🧡
Bonding is a slow and methodic practice through which you can get two (or more) rabbits living together peacefully. All animals must be fixed for 6 weeks prior to bonding. Some animals will never get along. Rabbits are choosy about who they room with Bonding can take days to months, so patience and practice is key You can absolutely get two rabbits of the same or opposite sex together. You can absolutely have rabbits that are loners and rabbits that like companions; each one is an individual and has its own needs.
The salt lick mostly comes from animals like horses and cows or just large animals in general need salt for the proper functioning of their bones, muscles, nervous system and circulatory system and people think if they need it so does my two lbs bunny
I got a 4 month old rabbit just a couple days ago and I adopted a lone rabbit because I only want and can take on one. She is already my best friend and is out at least 5 hours a day. Hopefully that time will expand once her and my dog are used to eachother. If I ever feel she is lonely then I would of course get her a friend but shes doing very well right now
@@emmawagner3019 I haven't got a problem with just one bunny, we are going to be doing bunny meetups once she has been spayed so she will have interactions but she is perfectly happy at home and I spend almost all day with her so she isn't lonely
I agree with all of this except for salt licks. The logic, "If you wouldn't eat pure salt, so why would your rabbit?" is silly. It's like saying "If your rabbit would eat hay, why wouldn't you?". We have completely different diets and taste preferences. My horse loves salt licks, he goes crazy for his. Maybe rabbits don't like them (I've never owned one), but I just disagree with the logic. Very education video! Thank you!
Yeah horses love salt licks. we had 4 horses and the mare was the one that hogged it haha she already licked a huge dent in it a few days after we bought it
You're right, we habe different diets than rabbits. But rabbits don't need the excess calcium and do fine without one. It might be different with horses, I don't know. We're all different species but what I do know is rabbits don't need a salt lick.
she's referring in terms of bunnies. it's too much sodium for them! is however have 9 goats who LOVE salt bricks and wouldn't mind the added minerals!!
As a child OF COURSE I had no idea what I did wrong because I trust my parents and the people in pet stores... but I am really angry about THEIR behaviour!!
When I was younger my grandpa got me and my sister 2 rabbits. He didn't tell us he was getting them for us and he didn't even tell my parents! i live in the UK and at the store pets at home their usually really well educated on animals ( well they are better now,. They weren't in 2010!) I had a wooden hutch and we kept my rabbit outside all year:( I was only 8, but I always think back to how terrible I looked after her. When one of our rabbits past away we never got another one for the one we still had. We gave her a diet of just pellets and barely any vegetables. I wish i could go back and give her a better life. I'm now older and I have a hamster. And I've done all my research and he is living his best life haha! I learned from my mistakes. But I will always have that guilt left. Rip snowy and thumper :(
I have treated animals badly out of ignorance before too. It's made me obsessed with researching animal care and trying to pass it on to other people. I still feel awful though... but all we can realistically do is be better.
littlekitsune1 me too that’s how i was when i first got my buns. i got them for therapy animals (not registered, just for me to have at home and stuff). i did next to NO research! it was last minute, and awful. the past couple months have been full of research, and i just got home from shopping for better supplies and stuff, and waiting on c &c grids for a big big big enclosure. i’m so upset with myself for how they have been treated so far, but i’m learning and doing so much better now.
@@emcrawford6401 I'm glad you're trying to do the best for your buns now. :) They'll be much happier for it and in turn be able to make you much happier as therapy animals.
Same!! My parents got me and my little brother two hamsters when we were really young and we didn’t know how to take care of them.. now that I’m older I feel so guilty that I was caring for them all wrong! But now I’m researching rabbits because I’m more responsible and educated now so I’m hoping to take care of a pet independently 😌
Ijust wanna say that all of u guys who made mistakes but are changing are doing something good, I'm sure your rabbit will feel a lot better now that you've changed some things! By researching, remorsing and realizing you are doing something good, don't be too hard on urself if you didn't do it right before, it's good that u know and care about your rabbits health
I gave my rabbit a salt licker awhile ago and she hated it so that got thrown away. I actually licked it myself and understood why she didn't like it, lol.
P00perd00pers Same. I got her this weird looking salt block thing (I read the label before giving it to her) and she should've liked it (I assumed that because my previous rabbit loved salt licks) and she hated it so much, she wouldn't go near it. That was seven bucks down the drain if you ask me!
P00perd00pers we've had one for our guinea pigs for like 6 yrs(150g salt block or sth) and they actually liked it, but only like all 6 months. Now the salt block had overlived them and lost only about 20 gramme
Mish Mosh some rabbits are low in salt naturally and require an extra supplement, e.g a salt lick. they will try to seek out salt by licking the owners skin or via a salt lick, therefore one should always be available
This is not at all true. Rabbits live long happy lives without salt licks, like they would if they were living wild. Rabbits licking their humans is often a sign of affection rather than a salt deficiency.
that’s why i states some rabbits are deficient, not all of them. many aren’t but it’s a good idea to have one just for a choice as a precaution. wild rabbits typically arent deficient as they have access to many different forages which are sufficient to their mineral needs, salt being one of them.
When my friend came to my house she kept trying to pick up my bun and held a box outside the cage (A SHOEBOX) and was like “Primrose come out!” And kept chasing them around and trying to lift them. She is NEVER coming to mine again. She is getting a hamster soon. 1 like = a prayer for the hamster.
There's another mistake its that some people only give their rabbits carrots. Carrots are like candy bars for rabbits eat too much and you will get sick or die. Its better to feed rabbits greens.
I had a bunny a few years ago and he was around 8 when i got him and i fed him some sliced carrots or baby carrots about once a day he absolutely loved them. He lived til he was 12 and was perfectly healthy soooo 🤷🏻
Since my bun is half Flemish Giant, I am currently using a baby bathtub as her litter box, made a world of difference for my Lucy. Also, she has a gravity feed water bowl like the ones used for small dogs, she loves it. 🐰
Hey, I know no one will care about this but I just need to get this off of my chest. This is the first video that I’ve seen in a while with a bunny in it because every time I see a rabbit I think of my past pet. He died last year on May 31st, and he was my everything. I don’t know his exact birth date, so he was around 7/8 Year’s old. When I was watching I just started to bawl my eyes out and think about him. Thank you for reading through all of this if you did.
I had a bunny for 6 years who had his own bedroom and was my love. My dogs got in her room and grabbed her. She lived that day, but I found her dead on the floor when I got home from work the next day. It took me time to heal and last Easter I got the bug and got another bunny. Give yourself time.
Macaron 24 it will get better. It can be really hard to lose a pet, especially if you're like me and see them as a member of the family. Try to concentrate on all the good times you shared with your bunny and how he enriched your life. You might also want to ease back into bunny ownership by fostering a rabbit and then if that goes well, get another bunny to love!
same i have a cute little big rabbite called MR BUNNY BUNNY not real namd hes REAL name is Bunny i call hem bunny bunny or MR BUNNY BUNNY sometimes! xD
Can we just appreciate how Lorelei buys things like a hamster cage or a really bad quality litter box just to show us when she'll probably never use it that much?
@@Michi.oo4 honestly that cage would be better for hamsters than the ones normally bought for them. obviously bigger is better though (i have a syrian in a detolf [900+ square inches of floorspace])
Caroline yeah.. the one in the video is kinda small if you consider that hamsters burry a lot. But you are right! There are kids out there with worse cages because of the horrible petstores selling those 😩
Or if the parrot lives in a multipet household, or for nighttime, or if someone’s petsitting or the outside doors are constantly opening, or for a space to destimulate (like if there’s tons of new guests) However...a rabbit hutch is too small for anything other than a conure or similarly sized bird, and the bars are waaaayyyy too gappy. So, no. It wouldn’t be useful for bird owners (although the horizontal shape is much nicer than the vertical ones they try selling.) A larger parrot would be hitting its head, could only stetch its wings in one direction, have NO space for perches (perching birds need those to avoid feet injuries, and ones shaped to their feet), and absolutely NO space for their food or toys (even loose toys like wooden dumbbells) So...those are just a complete waste for anything other than a guinea pig. (Some companies DO sell larger rabbit-specific pens, which is what I plan on investigating. Can’t remember their name, though. But while I’d let a rabbit free range as much as possible, there are still going to be times where I’d have better peace of mind if they were in a comfortable cage-specifically if I’m not there to supervise (like while out of my home or sleeping. I also have a cat. And while cats and rabbits can be friends, it’d still be an adjustment period for both of them)
Shaikh Mustafa Salman ^please still use a cage designed for parrots for reasons already listed. Namely, space for perches and the bird being able to stretch fully and sit without getting hunched over. They’re still gonna need all that. Plus an actual parrot cage is designed to let you change its food and water without getting bit, and is designed to make it impossible for the bird to flip the bowls over?

@incineroar I picked you in my ultra sun playthrough
So would I. lol As far as humans go, the dangers of salt intake is not nearly as bad as what was once believed. Actually a lot of people are shown to be need of more salt in their diet. They say with salt, your taste buds adjust with your needs. You'll desire saltier foods if you need more salt, and desire less if you need less. Salt isn't addicting like sugar where the more you eat, the more you crave of it.
my grandpa built a very large and nice hutch for them, but they are usually in a big exercise pen. we have three rabbits, all so loving. they LOVE fresh fruits and veggies.
My 2 Rabbits LOVE being picked up and held. They actually beg me to pick them up by putting their front paws on my leg. So I pick them up and the huddle right into my chest.
@@yakarotsennin3115 ^^^ this! My old bunny, london, was rhe mosg calm and cuddly bunny I can think off haha. While my latest bunny, spot she...well, she is independent to put it lightly and doesn't enjoy being held lol. It is different for sure but I don't force her to be held, she doesn't like it so be it. Every bunny is different which makes everything never rhe same experience when raising one ya know?
My bunny always nibbles on my shoes and stands on his hind legs for me to pick him up he’s so tiny and loves to cuddle on my shoulder while I watch tv !
Hi Lorelei and Lennon... I noticed Lennon having problems with slipping at her food bowl at the end. You might want to put a mat in Lennon's eating area so she can sit on it and not slip while she is eating. I think she would really appreciate that.
I think in the case of Lennon, she is okay as Lorelei is her bonded mate and spends so much time and gives her so much love and attention. Rabbits that are left alone definitely need another bonded bunny mate, but in the case of rabbits like Lennon, Pipkin (OneMorePlease) or Bini the Bunny they are vital parts of the humans lives and gets tons of love and affection.
@@DrDeliciou Rabbits don't 'bond' strongly to humans like dogs, say. To be brutally honest, they're not intelligent enough lol They definitely require a partner/friend though, I'm surprised this hasn't been covered on this otherwise amazing channel.
CEWIIH I definitely disagree with this statement. Rabbits are quite a lot more intelligent than most give them credit for. They can figure out puzzles and challenges that many dogs can't. They can be trained to do all kinds of tricks. In order to survive in the wild they have to memorize complex tunnel systems so they can move around in the dark. I have seen bunnies that are treated like a member of the family and given freedom be VERY closely bonded with their humans. Take a look at Pipkin from OneMorePlease. I have never seen such love and trust of humans by a bunny. He even guards them at night on the bed and comes when called. He is always asking for love and affection... and giving it as well. One reason for this I suspect is that Pipkin like Lennon is not caged but free roam. I would imagine a dog caged all the time would also not have a good bond with humans... the same would be true for rabbits. I believe if you treat them with love and respect and treat them as part of the family... making them an integral part of your life... that the bunny will respond in kind and create that bond of love with their humans. Unfortunately too many see bunnies as something you lock up in a cage and only let out every once in awhile.
thank you so much for making these video's. My parents got me a rabbit at 5 and me or my parents knew nothing about rabbits and kept it in a small cage and my mom got rid of it while I was at school and i didn't know she was going to do it. i feel very bad for the life that the rabbit had but i have been asking for one for a month now and I'm 13. Best of all my parents and I have done LOTS of research and have watched your videos and they have agreed on letting me free roam my rabbit in my room. I am so happy to give my new rabbit the life it deserves
Oh gosh Lennon was so small!! The salt lick comes from horses I guess, it's used to give them more minerals but try to guess, rabbits are not horses and they get the minerals they need from fresh veggies. Your videos are the best as always, all your info are correct and I could listen your adorable voice forever. :)
Lory Wolfsong on my farm we use salt licks with rabbits (just tiny chunks that broke off during the shipment to the farm) rabbits can have horse licks because they know or feel when they need minerals, but we also give out bunnies fresh veggies, the lick is just there for when they need it
Two things have really helped me in identifying rabbits in need or domesticated rabbits 1: having a significant other with a pet bunny 2: this channel. I am not an owner but I would rescue a bunny in two seconds now that I’m armed with knowledge thank you 😊 🐰
My first mistake was this too, that is why Bella died of idk what, i think bunny cancer, and the other one idk cuz mom didnt want to tell me (I was at school when it happened)
They are fine solo as long you give them at least 4 hours of attention per day. A lot like dogs really. If you leave them isolated in a pen all day, another bun is a good idea.
my rabbits are flemish giants, they live outside in a huge cage. they can make tunnels and they also have a big litter box wich was a dog house at first. plus they have a hide-out thats even two times the dog house. and they still have plenty of space to run around :))
I did make these mistakes. And now i am fixing all of my mistakes. I recently got elliot a playpen and he loves it! I am still working on mistakes, but i know elliot is content. But these are things I need to fo to ensure he lives a long healthy life. Also you have inspired me to share my story with my rabbit. I am actually working on a video. Talking about some funny momments I have had with Elliot. I just can't explain how much he has done for me emotionally and mentally. He is sich a sweet rabbit. And i rambled. Sorry 😂😅

Lennon the bunny I have a question is it possible to litter box train a adult rabbit???
Lennon The Bunny is it okay for me to use a water bottle since my rabbit has had a water bottle his whole life and he won't use a water bowl?
I went to a pet store once for fish food. They had a rabbit there in awfull conditions so i took the rabbit off them and still have him 6 years on
Hungry Clone awe that’s so nice 👏 I got my rabbit at a bunny rescue shelter
And my rabbit was going to me eaten by SNAKE but my mom saved him and we all love him so much

KiaraMoonii do it. I got one a month ago and it’s honestly the best quick decision I’ve ever made
I made all kinds of mistakes when I got my rabbit when I was a kid.

Thank you ❤️

My parents stupidly bought a rabbit for me when I was 6, even though they knew we wouldn’t be able to provide it with a nice, healthy life.
Just do research, give it a large place to live, toys, a litter box, and something on the floor. You'll be good.
Oh, you are so sweet, I did most of these mistakes cuz I was not educated about it, I bought my first rabbit when I was 7 and my second one when I was 10 but my second bunny died and when he died I started taking proper care and educating myself but it was too late, my first bunny died in 27 th october

When giving rabbits apple, *never* feed them the seed as they a cyanide in them.(which can kill rabbits). And I would recommend taking the skin off as it's sharp and could hurt their throats.
Well it doesn't actually matter because you would have to feed so much of it which is really not gonna happen.

Umm I noticed when she was talking about no water bottles the one she showed was the exact one I have I looked at my rabbit and said I’m so sorry
I know I try to tell my parents but all I get is who are the parents here?
@@jordansingh7780 I have the exact same problem as Still Homestuck. My bun likes to jump on things, he knocks poo into the water and ruins it, tips over any bowl he can, it's like he refuses to eat or drink without attempting to ruin the bowl first ha. I HAD to get a bottle, and he's had several vet checks since then and no problems. I got a big glass one so it's heavy, doesn't move easily, and cleans easily.
Yeah somethings I get her food bowl and put water in there
I use a water bottle but I took out the metal spout, keep it the rubber stopper mounted it inside (the cage they stay in while I’m at work) and put the bowl directly underneath so it fills to the rubber stopper and won’t overflow but keeps constant fresh water coming into the bowl

Lauren McKinlay i may not have met your bunny but all bunnies enjoy more space. a rabbit can live in a cage yes but they thrive with out one
Lauren McKinlay 💚 you sound like you’re doing a great job if your bunny is free to leave his cage when it pleases him
April’s Pet Care she clearly said her bunny lives free in the house but has a cage with an open door for whatever he wants to do there. How is she forcing him or depriving him of space? Duh.

He is now thriving and I named him after Lennon 🥺❤️
what was the advice?
You know rabbit need more care in winter
My rabbit never had a cage. I let her run around the apartment. She was very friendly and liked to jump up with me on the couch. She had a litter box, which she peed in, but she never pooped in it. I was constantly cleaning up pellets.
A word of caution. If you let your rabbit run around free MAKE SURE THAT IT CAN'T GET TO ANY ELECTRICAL CORDS. I came home one day to find that my rabbit had chewed into the TV electrical cord and died. That was so stupid of me not to think of that.

mistake 11: rabbits are social group animals and should not be kept alone.
Absolutely agree!
Agreed, with guinea pigs too
My bunny does not bond with other bunny’s. Should I try bonding her again (she is spayed so she is not as moody as she used to be) 🧡
No they're not, same gender would fight..
Bonding is a slow and methodic practice through which you can get two (or more) rabbits living together peacefully.
All animals must be fixed for 6 weeks prior to bonding.
Some animals will never get along. Rabbits are choosy about who they room with
Bonding can take days to months, so patience and practice is key
You can absolutely get two rabbits of the same or opposite sex together.

FYI everyone: Single bunnies are very lonely. It is illegal in Swizerland to keep a solitary rabbit.
I got a 4 month old rabbit just a couple days ago and I adopted a lone rabbit because I only want and can take on one. She is already my best friend and is out at least 5 hours a day. Hopefully that time will expand once her and my dog are used to eachother. If I ever feel she is lonely then I would of course get her a friend but shes doing very well right now
I had gotten two bunnies but my sister had let one go :( and I cried for days

@@emmawagner3019 I haven't got a problem with just one bunny, we are going to be doing bunny meetups once she has been spayed so she will have interactions but she is perfectly happy at home and I spend almost all day with her so she isn't lonely
KIE G you don’t know that. and you shouldn’t just get one because you only wanted one. rabbits can’t speak so you don’t know if she is lonely
@@crestedgecko6122 horses don't often need the licks either but it's not harmful 😊
Spanner & Clyde I mean the logic is flawed but the idea is just rabbits don’t need them which they don’t
she's referring in terms of bunnies. it's too much sodium for them! is however have 9 goats who LOVE salt bricks and wouldn't mind the added minerals!!

P00perd00pers we've had one for our guinea pigs for like 6 yrs(150g salt block or sth) and they actually liked it, but only like all 6 months.

and, I cant state this enough: Inform yourself before hand, and inform yourself properly!
*casually removes the salt lick*
Well my rabbit has never licked it, so I’d say she doesn’t need it. I used to have a bun who LOVED salt though. She’d slurp at that thing all day.
one of my buns loves it and the other never touched his. so the same as yours☺️

Macaron 24 ur so strong watching this video! 💕
Macaron 24 That's my birthday and I love bunnies
I had a bunny for 6 years who had his own bedroom and was my love. My dogs got in her room and grabbed her. She lived that day, but I found her dead on the floor when I got home from work the next day. It took me time to heal and last Easter I got the bug and got another bunny. Give yourself time.
Macaron 24 no probs
Macaron 24 it will get better. It can be really hard to lose a pet, especially if you're like me and see them as a member of the family. Try to concentrate on all the good times you shared with your bunny and how he enriched your life. You might also want to ease back into bunny ownership by fostering a rabbit and then if that goes well, get another bunny to love!

Hopefully she gives it to a shelter or a friend who needs it for another animal like a hamster.
walkingparadox10 its also too small for a hamster. This cage is terrible
There are kids out there with worse cages because of the horrible petstores selling those 😩
She might use it as a large litter box for Lennon, Its WAYYYYY to small to be donated even if it ends up in gerbil or hamster care.
Or sell your used cages to bird owners! They make great cages for disabled parrots.
Why would a disabled parrot need a cage? 🤷
@@krrrruptidsoless so if it trys to fly in the air it would hurt its self because it might not be able to fly right and it might injure its self
Or if the parrot lives in a multipet household, or for nighttime, or if someone’s petsitting or the outside doors are constantly opening, or for a space to destimulate (like if there’s tons of new guests)
However...a rabbit hutch is too small for anything other than a conure or similarly sized bird, and the bars are waaaayyyy too gappy. So, no. It wouldn’t be useful for bird owners (although the horizontal shape is much nicer than the vertical ones they try selling.) A larger parrot would be hitting its head, could only stetch its wings in one direction, have NO space for perches (perching birds need those to avoid feet injuries, and ones shaped to their feet), and absolutely NO space for their food or toys (even loose toys like wooden dumbbells)
So...those are just a complete waste for anything other than a guinea pig.
And while cats and rabbits can be friends, it’d still be an adjustment period for both of them)
Shaikh Mustafa Salman
^please still use a cage designed for parrots for reasons already listed.
Namely, space for perches and the bird being able to stretch fully and sit without getting hunched over. They’re still gonna need all that. Plus an actual parrot cage is designed to let you change its food and water without getting bit, and is designed to make it impossible for the bird to flip the bowls over?

Okay but I would totally eat raw salt for fun lol
Edit: My arteries are so clogged please help
So would I. lol As far as humans go, the dangers of salt intake is not nearly as bad as what was once believed. Actually a lot of people are shown to be need of more salt in their diet. They say with salt, your taste buds adjust with your needs. You'll desire saltier foods if you need more salt, and desire less if you need less. Salt isn't addicting like sugar where the more you eat, the more you crave of it.

Hi Lorelei and Lennon... I noticed Lennon having problems with slipping at her food bowl at the end. You might want to put a mat in Lennon's eating area so she can sit on it and not slip while she is eating. I think she would really appreciate that.
Trader Dave she has one but for this part of the video shoot she didnt :)
Frankly..its kinda funny

Oh gosh Lennon was so small!! Your videos are the best as always, all your info are correct and I could listen your adorable voice forever. :)

It is NOT guaranteed that a bunny will get along with another bunny. Ms. 101Rabbits provides proof of this in her videos.
They are fine solo as long you give them at least 4 hours of attention per day. A lot like dogs really. If you leave them isolated in a pen all day, another bun is a good idea.
