I think Darkwing and Dreadwind were just about as close to perfection as any G1 figures could get. The colors, the transformation and the combination are all just amazing.
I love Dreadwind and Darkwing. I always felt they looked cool and I love that combined form. Really looks like a jet you wouldn't mess with. I just wish they weren't so darn expensive.

That DreadWing combined mode is still BAD. ASS. Hope we get a Voyager Class remake of these lads, that do the space jet justice! Have you read the Marvel UK story where they recover Starscream's body? It has a cameo appearance by certain Real Ghostbusters!!

Now, RUclips is EXTREMELY paranoid that they'll get in trouble AGAIN, so they've taken ridiculously extreme measures to give the appearance that they're trying to protect kids from online predators now, which has resulted in, what basically amounts to censorship, and may mean that lots of toy reviewers just quit, or are forced to completely rework their channels into something that a lot of their subscribers won't care about as much, if at all. I know Chefatron put up a video recently on exactly the same issue. THAT being said, what self-respecting parent opens a RUclips profile for a little kid to be exposed like that anyway?! I know Dylan does his thing with his "Dylan's Toybox" reviews sometimes, but that's on YOUR channel and directly under YOUR supervision, which is a completely different thing from what was happening that they were sued for. It's sad that SO MANY of these big tech companies have been allowed to operate to the point that they don't generally feel obligated to adhere to basic standards and principles, geared to protect their users. Instead, they want to rule over us, and will slap you down over the smallest infractions, to show their power and superiority, and yet, when THEY step out of line and violate ACTUAL LAWS & PRIVACY of the individual, especially children, and are finally THEMSELVES being punished, they react in SUCH an absurdly insane, and overly irrational manner, that they end up punishing the VERY people that they screwed to get sued in the first place, PLUS a whole bunch MORE people (channels & subscribers/viewers) that had NOTHING to do with their original issue. Based on THAT, I expect they'll get sued AGAIN for screwing with people's livelihood and sole means of income, in certain situations. NOT ONLY that, but also for THEIR OWN censorship versus those who do not promote THEIR liberal & global agendas, (basically liars & delusionals), but instead promote truth and getting real information out there for people all over the world to be enlightened and made aware of certain truths. It's sad what is happening, because of THEIR OWN GREED & STUPIDITY, but it's their own fault, and they've no one to blame but themselves. In the meantime, the rest of US suffer BECAUSE of it. Guys like YOU suffer, because you're channel operators, publishing various content for YOUR subscribers & viewers to enjoy, and WE, as those subs/viewers, are penalized because of the absurd restrictions they're planning to impose on YOU & YOUR channel. There's a LOT MORE going on behind the scenes than most realize, or are inclined to believe, but this is the particular issue that affects US.
Excellent review Patriot Prime!! Dreadwind & Darkwing were great choices for starting off the Powermaster reviews. Both of them are definitely in my top 10 favorite Series 5 Transformers.
The pop-up head not quite working right seems a really common issue with this guy. I wonder if you could fix that with some lithium grease or something.
Darkwing DID show up in Transformers Victory or Masterforce, but not in that perticular paint scheme. Did get to see a few clips were they appeared, got the shows on DVD too, but the sub sucks on it so i wont bother watch. What i remember they were treated as generic grunts

The thing that really ties a good combination together for me are the finer things like the nose-cone wings that flip out of Dreadwind as well as the off-colour tail-end of Dreadwind to make for a more coherent design when combined. A bit of a far-off example (and totally backwards chronologically speaking) but I'm reminded of 2000 Omega Prime what with the way Ultra Magnus had hidden parts stored exclusively to combine with Optimus Prime; to make the aesthetic work. You basically had red parts on an otherwise [predominantly] blue and white figure--but it worked! And it made the combination feel that much better because it's a part of who/what they are. Ehem. Got a little carried away but that's how I feel about these two and the good vibes are ALL there. A shame that the TR versions were so lacklustre comparatively speaking (and a little in their own right given the weak single connection). Hopefully I can find these guys [used] at TFcon next year! Great review man, and very informative :)

What a great part two for 'Peddle to the Metal' series. I've really enjoyed these and loved seeing the combined jet mode, so 80's and awesome, guns everywhere and vibrant colours. I love the sculpt of Darkwing (especially the facial detail) and again decent for a G1 bot. Man, this is another two amazing G1 bots I'm going to have to pick up t some point. Thanks again for another great review
