    Fun fact: Nanowar of Steel is "just" a hobby-project. And most of the band members are academics, I mean proper PhD scientists and univerity professors. :D
    I wouldn't call them folk metal, since every song of them has a different style. Try Norvegian Reaggeton, Uranus, Today I found out she was a Gargoyle or Der Fluch des Käpt'n Iglo. Take you pick. Everyone is comedy gold

      Don't be afraid to listen to their last single "La polenta taragnarok". It is in italian but there are subtitles :) It features Giorgio Mastrota, a famous TV presenter (mainly known in Italy for his "infomercials" of stainless steel cookware, that's why in the video he's known as Inox knight) and it's particularly "folky" and catchy. Another great song is "La maledizione di Capitan Findus" mainly about the legendary frozen codfish sticks, so heavily advertised in Italy in the 1990s that they became part of the popular culture of an entire generation. (there's a german spoken version "Der Fluch des Kapt’n Iglo" that is pretty insane too).

    Another great reaction. Funny you mentioned IKEA using this. When the song first came out they tried to do some live shows at IKEA's but were turned down so they arraigned meet ups at local IKEA's on social media and they would have treasure hunts for band merch they would hide in the stores. Systembolaget is the Swedish national liquor store. The section with the dark god creature is in Hebrew and is a riff on a Jewish prayer I believe but again with Norse mythology references (Ygdrassil).

    • @MsCatstaff
      @MsCatstaff 2 года назад +6

      Yes, the Hebrew bit is a riff on a Jewish prayer. Not Jewish myself, but had enough friends to know this one. The actual is, "Sh'ma Yisroel, Adonai elohainu, Adonai echod" which translates as "Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One."

    So, here's a fun bit of deep lore. Angus McFife, the singer of Gloryhammer featured here as Odin, it is "official canon" that when he took his own life by descending into the raging volcanic fires of Schiehallion rather than giving into the power of Evil after his battle with Zargothrax, after his death Angus McFife XIII became Odin, the Master of IKEA. Have fun with that.

So every time you re-listen these songs, something new will click and you'll get something new from it.

    They're not a folk metal band,cause they made songs of all metal genres from death to melodic
