- After the Sandridge Apartment complex came under new ownership this month, all tenants were notified they had 60 days to vacate the property.
This is going to happen all over Columbus. There are thousands and thousands of old and poorly maintained apartments that were built in the early to mid 60's just like these.
Whoa! This has been going on around the whole country.
They built mini homes in California that housed families
that were for servicemen. When the Vietnam war ended,
the government sold the properties to the locals. As you
stated, the homes were built in the early 60s. Now they are
section 8 housing for immigrants. Not all, but the rent is
triple more than what you pay in Ohio. The same in Kansas.
They sold the housing, tore down the buildings, and rebuilt
the homes. Even changed the names of the streets. Ten
years ago I paid $900 for a one bedroom, just renovated
apartment in California, now it has ballooned up to $1800
a month. But the worse are the fines that the state imposes
for traffic offenses, like the red light camera system.
California tried to hold my driver's license hostage to force
me to pay a traffic offense that they had on camera. $800
is what they wanted, but I fought, and beat them at their own
games. It is all about money as you well know. I don't even have
to tell you that.
Really sad. Really heartbreaking! Rent is outrageous and I doubt these people will be able to find a place that they can afford. Offer them to move across the street for double the rent. I got sad news for these people. Double the rent is about everywhere
If the housing crisis isn't bad enough. 60 days ain't shyt
Normally I'd say that's a side wffwct of businesses, but there is no place nearby that is even close to that, or has enough space so that is just crazy...
This is why there is housing shortages in Columbus, oh. Smh
60 days notice in general is tough even when you're the one who decides to leave. When do you give notice if it both takes more than 60 days to secure a place, AND any place which is available is move-in less than 30 IF you can get it. I'd like to move to a normal apartment building but can't tell my landlord..
The Ellis Act is that applicable there
It's being torn down they are building a big bank there
They don’t have to renovate. Fix things as necessary and don’t abuse decent tenants. 😡😡😡😡
They said renovate, but they really just mean get your poor butt moving, we need more space to plug in our Teslas closer to Easton. This is already city wide, Whitehall, hillard, Westerville, east Livingston, James Rd, Galloway. They have been evicting people, where are they going?
Who wants to pay 1000 a month and live there...not worth that at all.
$500 a month is basically free , that's outrageously cheap holy cow. 1k a month us actually a good deal too. I wouldn't complain. And FYI the reason the Apts have new owners is BECAUSE the old owner rented with her heart and that don't pay bills.
You must be really rich if you think those apartments are worth $1000 a month
Welcome Columbus to the era of gentrification, it's a wrap
