- Napoleon: Total War 1vs1: Semenovski Lifeguard vs Old Guard (MELEE COMBAT)
Nation: Russia vs France
AI Strength: normal
Semenovski Lifeguard are elite infantry, inspiring units nearby and possessing superb statistics across the board. Compared to standard Lifeguard Foot, they have worse reloading and accuracy, but have superior melee attack and morale--in fact, they have the highest morale of all Russian units. Like all Russian units, they are resistant to cold fatigue, making them immune to the effects of cold attrition and giving them a significant advantage on snowy battlefields.
The Old Guard are the best elite infantry in the game, with unmatched stats across the board. Their ability to scare enemies in their vicinity is unique to them. This, combined with their deadly skills at both ranged and melee combat, means that they can usually rout most enemies in short order. Like all infantry, however, they are vulnerable to artillery (their status as the best infantry in the game makes them an attractive artillery target) and being attacked from the flanks or rear. Their very high cost is also an issue, particularly in multiplayer, where limited funds means that a heavy reliance on Old Guard means having to make do with an inferior army in other regards. The Old Guard are also the only default guard unit that is limited to three regiments (other factions may recruit four), though France can supplement this with other guard units such as Young Guard and Guard Seamen. The Old Guard's fear ability mean that they are at their most useful toward the end of battles, where morale penalties from casualties sustained or generals killed mean that many units have shaky morale. Though Old Guard can only be trained at staff colleges, the highest level military building, France starts the Grand Campaign with one regiment of them. This regiment can prove pivotal in the early game, when no other faction can field line infantry nearly as skilled. As staff colleges may only be built in capital regions of any faction, it is normally considerably more difficult to recruit and replace Old Guards that are lost far from France.

Wow, the hand to hand moves those two guard units were showing were like something out of an action movie 😂
(Also thanks for doing my idea)
You're Welcome! Thanks for waiting me to do your idea :D
It’s frustrating how french units are OP in this game. But it wouldn’t be NAPOLEON total war if they won’t))
😈👍
I love destroying russian hordes with my Grande Armiee
The Old Guard was OP irl though
The British are OP in the sea though.
@@mohamedabdelhamed2677 in Napoleon it's not that noticeable, especially in Prussia/Russia/Austria gameplay. In GB or France (less) - I think yes, I would agree.
You can’t beat the old guard man, not even a cemaat jannisary charge can break through them
Yeah, Cemaat Janissaries are no match for them.
Cause they have strength they’re disciplined and have the spirit to take on any stong enemies
@@skyrivera7456 👍😈
I’m glad they can only field 3 old guard units. Because of this, it’s not hard to break the old guards with more guard units of my own.
Yeah 😈👍
OH MY GOD I CANT BE THE ONLY ONE WHO SAW THIS AT 3:01 right?
In my 3 years of playing napoleon, i have never seen that move wow
Yeah, it's cool :D
@@AdityaSharma-kj2fb FR. Had to rewind the video to make sure I wasn't tripping
As Marshal Ney said during waterloo ''Guards die, they dont surrender''
👍👍
@@illumey7884 thanx for information bro. i love the litte details like this
@@illumey7884 It was mainly detachments from the Young Guard at Plancenoit, and a few units from the Old Guard. The Old Guard after the Middle Guard's routheld their ground and performed a final rear guard action even though all was lost.
Vive la Garde
😈
The old guard didnt get the charge bonus tho
Yeah, and they still won 😈
that attack at 3:01 is the first time I saw it lol. I love how this game looks amazing from arial views but also looks great when go into the heat of combat (marching sounds, yelling when charging, etc.).
Slightly unfair comparison sadly, the semenovski were winded whereas old guard were fresh
Well the russians had a charge bonus!
@@zealezkiddo5439 doesn't matter, the charge bonus is a one off whereas fatigue levels affect the entire melee combat. Also, we wanted to see the charge bonus effects, but now we don't know because the melee bit wasn't fair
When Semenovski Guard reached Old Guard, their stamina was "Active". I think the charge bonus was actually applied.
Btw next time you use this you can use a trainer to make your men invulnerable, then have them waste all their ammo so they melee charge you (or you can just charge and turn off the invulnerability right as you're about the make contact.)
The Old Guard still win, they're OP 😈
What’s the name of the trainer?
@@tiziocaio8657 Just Google "napoleon total war trainer." I've used MrAntiFun's trainer before.
@@tiziocaio8657 What do you mean "the trainer" ?
@@TotalWar1vs1 it’s basically a cheat
How a unit with inferior stats wins??
Because they're infamous Old Guard 😈
They have a powerful morale shock trait in the game that is exclusive to their unit that affects all enemy units that attack them. That’s how they won.
Dont count on charge bonus to do much on flat terrain, beside that old guard had been applying 18 melle def vs semenosvki 12 melle attack so its old guard had six more attack;)
@@retardcorpsman I'm pretty sure that morale shock doesn't affect melee combat skills.
TOTAL WAR 1vs1
It doesn’t directly affect the Enemy’s stats, but it makes them flee in a melee/shooting engagement if they take too much losses.
So even tho the old guard might have inferior stats, the Russian guard begins fleeing once their number drops to a certain point wheras the French Old guard remains steadfast.
2 vs 1?
Yup, almost that and Old Guard still won 😈
Why do you say 1vs1 if you do 2vs1?
VIVE L'EMPEREUR, À MOI LA GARDE 🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷
😈😈
mais pas d'oignons pour les russes...
😈
And no oil for them either.
No summer?
It's literally a 2v1... With two units against 1 what's melee and morale is worse, idk how you lost.
Yeah 👍. Because the enemy is infamous Old Guard 😈
Kinda funny, the entire French's roster is balanced around the old guards as it's the only strong infantry unit they have, the rest are mediocre and some are below average compared to other nations.
I think their Guard Seamen are reliable and strong enough vs other Guards.
@@TotalWar1vs1 well true but I remember they can only get 1 Guard seamen, and since Old guards are so strong, there isn't really any reason to pick them up unless you play the campaign :v
@@TheBikeOnTheMoon 👍
how tf did the russians lose they had all the advantage in stats. Broken game
Because their enemy is the mighty Old Guard of Grande Armée 😈. Old Guard are much stronger than their stats in the game
It s not 1 vs 1, but 2 vs 1.
Yup, and Old Guard still won 😈
These battles are unfair
Why?? I think this battle was fair
Unfair at what? It is 2vs1 and they still won.
