The Comets were the first dynasty in the W. It’s a shame that this franchise went away along with their history. Those teams were special and they should be celebrated more.

@willieduffie4967 I kinda found out by accident or completely forgot. We moved from Orange County to the Houston area 3 years ago. We took out daughter to a Sparks game so I was like ah yeah we can take her to plenty of Comets games now that she's older. I was searching and digging into the history like how in the heck did that happen.

All the ladies were so sweet to me (especially Lisa & Cynthia). But, Kim was my favorite she always took the time to play with me when I was around. She was the biggest goofball! The Comets were to the WNBA what the Chicago Bulls were to the NBA in the 90's. The Comets are the greatest dynasty in WNBA history. At that time, the 90's were the haydays for Houston. The Rockets won back-to-back titles, the Comets four-peated, the Astros were in the playoffs in three straight years after missing out the last decade. We even had two movies made in our city (Reality Bites & Apollo 13). The one downside was the Oilers leaving, but we knew we would be getting an NFL team back.

I'm late, I just found this. I got a little story I'd like to tell.
I had the opportunity, just briefly, to be in the same area as Kim Perrot as she was at Houston Intercontinental Airport. I was picking up someone at the arrivals pickup at Terminal C and... there she was. A little across the way. This was when she was already in the throes of her cancer treatment. Not wanting to bother her, but still wanting to encourage her to fight and show appreciation for what she had and still was doing for Houston, I yelled to her "YOU GOT THIS, KIM!" She smiled and waved at me, and that was that. My single moment with Kim, hoping to help in whatever way, even just sending her love.
I wish it had been enough. It obviously wasn't, and she passed away later. :(
But still, what we got to see, what she meant to all of Houston at the time... Yep. She was special. #3 for #10.

Nothing that is happening in the WNBA now is unprecedented; the WNBA was way more popular in the late 90s early 2000, and some of the great players were superstars who had shoe deals and were all over national TV like NBC. The most viewed and attended games in the WNBA history were in the 90 as well, and these records still stand.
