    Great video. Actually the best on grip installations I have ever seen. I was starting to replace mine last nite and came across the throttle issue then found this video and did everything that was shown and it went flawlessly. Again, great job guys and thanks for your help.

    Thank you! Very thorough and glad you included the throttle-by-wire piece, too. I was fortunate and have that on my 2021 HD Slim, so a five minute install for that side and 10 minutes for the other side.

    Been doin' that for years with my oldies ('35 & '42). A few turns of friction tape was used to keep them in place in the old days, I still use it. Compressed air through the end hole gets them off fast and you can put the new ones on the same way.

    When adjusting cables always lube cables than adjust. First with front end pointing strait forward tighten until bell crank or plate is full range. Then tighten locknut and lube the threads before installing boots. Moving to idle cable (inside cable) turn front to full right lock( this puts the most tension on cable) then tighten untill it no longer snaps back, then loosen until it snaps back freely. Straighten front end and check freeplay, loosen if prefered. Lube threads and install last boot.

I,,got a new battery, new coil,and new plugs,,and I took petcock apart and cleaned it,,what would cause it to just stop running??? It will turn over,but will not start,don't think it's getting gas,,I cleaned the screen in the tank also,and sprayed carb cleaner in carb,,,this is the first carbureted bike I've owned,,, what else would cause it to just stop,dead,,and not restart???

    DON'T CUT THE OLD GRIP OFF! It's just idiotic to take a razor blade to a set of grips when you can get it off with a bit of WD40. just take the clamp off that holds the lever in place and use a bit of wire to make a gap on the open end. spray a liberal amount of the WD40 and then once off clean with light amount of lighter fluid. :). CAREFUL lighter fluid like petrol WILL peal your paint if you're not careful!

    • @jeffthunders
      @jeffthunders 7 лет назад +3

      Andrew Rimell that sounds like an idiotic way to remove a grip when you can just cut it off.

    • @scottanderson5290
      @scottanderson5290 6 лет назад

      Why would you not want to cut it off unless your planning on saving the old grip for some reason and if that's the case why even replace them.

    On my bike there is an end cap on the end of the clutch side grip and it didn't move. This video was not helpful for me, because it has answered everything that I have already knew but did not answer the only thing that I did not know.. Cutting a rubber grip with a blade like it was shown is the easiest "bruteforce" way to do it but seriously I think that whoever watches a video about disassembling something wants to know how to disassemble it without destroying anything :(
    (There are more clever ways to do it: injecting oil or soapy water under it, blowing it off with compressed air etc...)
    After all I have managed to pry the end cap off (risked to brake it to pieces), it seems that it was glued inside the bar.

Thanks for the video, always great to see folks helping folks.
