    Excellent tutorial. I have one suggestion. I put two pieces of masking tape ... one on the handlebar and one on the clutch or brake assy. I line up a small tape arrow to show the rotate position of the levers. Then they can go back to the same angle when you re-tighten.

    Lemmy, you make it entertaining and educational. My bike was "dropped" (I didn't do it) but never the less the left grip was punched out just like you said will happen if you pound the grips as you get to the end of the install, so a replacement pair is in order and this video will help. Your comments about the right side clamshell has me curious though, I think when I adjusted my controls after repositioning my bars (after the bike was dropped) has caused my tail light, only my tail light to stop working? Bet it has something to do with those sensitive connections under there. Wish I had discovered a video about that before I tried moveing them. Enjoy your videos, thank you.

    Great video......question, I just installed Avon grips on my 18 electra glide ultra classic, I noticed on the throttle side that there is some inward and outward play, almost spring like on the grip while trying to tighten clam shell....if that makes sense...is there a proper preload so to speak? I held mine in as I tightened, and seems like throttle doesn't want to spring back 100% when released....maybe I need to loosen back up to allow it to not be preloaded?

    Not your fault but I've had 3 Kuryakyn throttle grips break on my Triumph 1600 in three years. The plastic bit holding the end of the throttle cable (barrel) keeps breaking and releasing the cable. I send pictures to Kuryakyn and talk to them but it. Each replacement breaks.
    There is NOT a extreme pull (tension) on the throttle cable. Sort of defective plastic/design if you ask me.

    I installed Arlen Ness Fusion Knurled grips (bought from yall @ RevZilla) on my '18 Street Glide...followed Lem Lem's advice and went slow. Quick question about Clutch side. I cleaned and sanded everything off, and clocked the grip as I wanted it...and wanted to see how it looked and fit before using grip glue...and once slid all the way on...it is not moving. This doesn't
    seem like a huge issue for me, as it looks and works as it should....however, I am concerned that it might eventually slip off...thoughts?

    Lemmy! Question. I'm looking at installing the Kuryakyn Iso grips (black!), like the ones in the video. I have a Fat Bob (2015!), so dual-cable throttle. I read the instructions that Kuryakyn includes, and they suggest glue for the clutch side grip. It seems like you are suggesting (both in the article and in video) that this is unnecessary. You suggested alcohol? Am I getting that right? Or should I be using glue? You have the final word, brother. Thanks again!

    My clutch side grip on my 2011 Street Glide will literally spin freely and will not slip off. The grip will literally spin while holding onto it. This is extremely unsafe as well as annoying. This just happened 2 days ago after I gave my bike a thorough washing. How in the world can the grip do this? So now I am in the market for some new grips (to replace the stock ones). Any thoughts or suggestions???

    • @RevZilla

      Some soapy water may have loosened any glue holding the clutch side grip in place. Once you remove the stock grip, clean that area of the handlebar with some alcohol to remove any other residues. New grips should hold firm once installed. -DrewZilla

      They should be held on with a set screw, so you loosen the set screws and slide the grips off. -DrewZilla

      I'd recommend Biltwell Kung Fu Grips or Avon Air Cushion Grips. However, the bike just vibrates a lot by nature. -DrewZilla

    I heated my grips using a heat gun. Pull as you twist, twist, twist and off they go. It was so easy. Just heat the grips really good, and use gloves. Mine didn't hint of any melting.

    i have my stock grips on my harley XL883N and i know they are built into the throttle wiring... My question is... can i just cut off the stock grips, but leave the portion that is connected to the clamped on controls and wiring for the throttle and simply slip-on the new grips and the throttle will work?

    • @raulbarron5250

      Or even an extension for the break fluid tube?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 лет назад

      You can remove the stock grips as long as you don't damage the throttle tube during the removal process. I would then install a new rubber grip on top of your existing throttle tube. If you're switching handlebars, you would swap the throttle tube over to the new bars. Hope that helps! -TeamZilla Chris

    How do you replace a grip with bar end light signals without cutting the cords?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 лет назад

      You have to disconnect the bar end turn signal wires one way or another. Hopefully they're connected with quick disconnect/bullet connectors. If the turn signal wires are hard-mounted into the wiring harness, you'll have to cut them. It'd be a good opportunity to add connectors that can detach. -DrewZilla
