Thanks for watching!
Bro you’ve helped me more in like 3 months than any other youtuber has in my entire life
I appreciate it!
If you find practicing with a metronome too boring, sometimes playing with drum beat can make it a lot more fun. You can find drum beats at almost any tempo and time signature on RUclips!
Nah you seem like you have bad rhythm. Suffering is the only way
@@kevinnickens😊😊
I could have given you some authentic B-roll of someone starting out playing "sweet home alabama" 😅
As a beginner I feel like a lot of that comes when you’re not actively thinking about every step so you can worry about how you’re doing it rather than whether you’re doing it all. The vibrato and bends sound like a lot of the ‘emotion’ of a performance to me too. Fantastic series btw I’ve only been playing a few days but feel like I’ve come so far
WOW... Dynamic picking has made a HUGE difference in my playing already. I knew something was off but I couldn't figure out why. Thank you!
I agree about recording your self, it's also useful to hear if your guitar is in tune, intonated or if your fret hand is pressing to hard and making notes sharp. Thanks for the video.
Well said!
"I've gotta get a less weird hobby" (the recording of the video reference) made me chuckle. Thanks for an interesting and informative video. :) As someone who grew up playing other instruments and knowing the difference, I'm new to guitar and bass and (oddly) struggling as most woodwind, brass, and percussive instruments came to me relatively easy. Guitar and bass are much more nuanced. I remember a lesson where I was told of years ago, a young pianist was playing a concert. He played every note with precision, swells and diminishes filled the air as though he lifted them from the page itself. Afterwards, a world-class pianist was there and the young pianist approached him asking for feedback. The master pianist told him, "You play very well. Perhaps one day, you will make music." It really is a vibe, a feel, something indescribable that we each add that is all our own. ❤
Such great, practical advice as always. Really enjoying your channel!
Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying the channel!
You explain everything so clear and easy that I watched one video after another and another and... Great teaching techniques for us who want to learn or improve in our playing. Thanks man ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Glad it was helpful!
You’ve crystallized so much for me. More more more. Thank you.

What type of guitar would you suggest to play Folk music
Definitely an acoustic guitar. Martin and Taylor are good brands.
@@kevinnickens thank you
nice thx
we need more jokes
Agreed
Hey how do we know you're a guitarist when you don't have a guitar visible in every single frame of the video even when you're not playing? ;)
Gotta trust me I guess
Kevin! I'm going through your series and learning with it, but once I finish learning the previous lesson i have no clue what to practice. is there anything you recommend I do while I wait for the next lesson? I've been learning songs but I feel like I don't retain any chords, notes, etc that way. any help is great. thanks
Thanks for watching! I’m working on a practice routine video that breaks it down by level right now!
