Dude, pls keep up with content like this. I work as a cashier in a tobacco store in a small town, so I don’t really have many customers 😅 so i watch your videos and this really helps with my boredom and monotony. Love your takes with album ranking videos as much as the Retrospectives.

I came across Dimension Hatross back in 1989 in a used record store in Laramie, Wyoming (of all places). I was all of 15 and I had never heard anything like that before. And obviously I'm still a fan to this day. Plus I'm one of those people who loved Angel Rat when it came out. To me, that run from Killing Technology to The Outer Limits is untouchable. I'm also fond of Katorz and Infini as it's a genuine tribute to the last music Piggy made. I get that those albums are different, but they never had the chance as a band to work on those demo riffs on his laptop. Once that context is established, those two albums are pretty good to my ears. But the last two albums are about as good as anything they've ever done.
I'm just glad this band keeps finding reinvention and new winds to keep them around.

hope you haven't missed the awesome EP "Post Society" which was released between "Target Earth" and "The Wake". It should have been a full length album but due to Blackys departure they couldn't release more than this EP. So sad that we'll never get the full song of the final track from Target Earth, which served as a first teaser for the next album.

it's a damn shame that Voivod only truly made one mind-blowing masterpiece that will stand the test of time forever... DIMENSION HATROSS... they've tried and tried and tried and tried but nowhere near as brilliant and esoteric and masterful.... HATROSS is forever and it's a damn shame they barely play it live.

very interesting review for this great band. I think the Negatron to Infini periods were hard for metal anyway not only for Voivod. Cant recall many great albums from this period all in all. The metal scene faced competition originally from grunge and then from all these electronic type of genres. I have witnessed many of my friends converting to other genres. But 2014 onwards, metal music is reviving and Voivod is a great part of it. I was hooked to them with Dimension Hatross but i find now the Wake and Synchro Anarchy honestly great. Maybe The Wake is bit better due to the End Of Dormancy and the experiment that they have done with the brass instruments. Looking forward to hear their work with the Montreal Symphoinic orchestra beginning of 2025

@@linesinwax4996 I'd say give Ministry's "The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste" a listen - their first two albums are somewhat dark synth-pop, but by the late '80s they'd gone industrial-thrash. They were massive when I saw them at the first Lollapalooza fest, I'm getting old-ish ha ha. Meanwhile, I'm totally digging the Voivod retrospective, they're another band I've been listening to for decades! Cheers.
