Before you go ripping your interiors apart do yourself a favor, pop the hood and check the condition of your main body ground off the negative battery terminal

MAN! I just bought a 2001 Jeep Cherokee and had the No Gauges and the " NO BUS" alert. I am going to try this and see if it fixes my issue! thank you so much for posting this!!!

Thanks! Took me 5 mins no exaggeration to take the cluster out. Chrysler really made these things nice to work on. My terminals behind the cluster looked clean but I had already bought the spray and sprayed the crap out of the plugs and harness as you said. Then I used some compressed air to blow everything dry. Put it all back together and it’s working perfectly!

Thank you for posting this! When I started my 2001 XJ yesterday, I got the dreaded "no bus" odometer and had no gauges. The engine was running just fine, so from what I've read that means the issue is a connection fault between the cluster and the ECM. Was definitely NOT looking forward to having to pull the cluster but you're video really helps by showing where the screws and the hidden clips are located, and how to remove the dash components. Again, thanks- too many people take these "how to" videos for granted. Your work is appreciated. Now... to get started on doing this to my Jeep!

Thanks for the video, found it extremely helpful today. 20 minutes into a 9 hour drive home from Yosemite I lost all instruments and the check engine / no bus light came on. Everything ran fine, so i drove a while to an auto parts store, picked up some electric connection cleaner and did the procedure, worked like a charm and got me home.

There is a technical service bulletin on this from jeep. You need to replace the connector on right side. The connectors are getting corrosion on so cleaning will work it specifically says not to use sand paper ,file or knife to clean. It removes the protective coating from the connectors.

1999 jeep XJ October 2017 update on No bus error. On my 2nd PCM and I'm still stalling. Found a simple and stupid solution, when the jeep stalls I jiggle the 3 multi wire connections to the computer pushing the cables into the connections and lightly tapping on the PCM so far it worked every time.

Apply dielectric grease to both haves of the electrical connection before reassembly, this should solve your problem, or at least make the fix last longer.

I have a 1995 ZJ with a 4.0L that has some issues, and can't find a fix anywhere. The voltmeter gauge on the cluster will intermittently show normal charging (approx 13.5v), and then low charging (around 12v or below). When measuring with a voltmeter on the battery and on the alternator, the charging voltage stays around 13.5 to 13.2 at idle with a/c on, but the dash still shows low voltage.
It only shows normal charging voltage when starting for the first time in the morning. Shortly thereafter, it will drop to approx 12v or below. On rare occasions while driving, the jeep will keep running, the headlights stay on, but the instrument cluster will lose power, the stereo turns off, and the a/c turns off only for a split second like it cycled power or lost bus connection due to irregular voltage readings at the cluster (I think?) and then come back. Shifting becomes irregular leading up to the power cycle and RPMS seem to be held out a little longer in between shifts when it reads low voltage on the dash, right up until it loses power and cycles, comes back, and pops back up to approx 13ish volts on the cluster, and seems to run fine again for a short while.
It keeps running, it drives, it starts, it gets me where I'm going, and doesn't stall. Alternator is brand new, battery 6 months old. I know it charges according to the volt meter, and it never has sluggish starts or issues starting, it will just randomly cycle power on the instrument cluster. I can't find a write up on this anywhere.

So my 1999 xj I changed my heater core and after I plugged everything back in and tried to start it, it started and ran for about 5 seconds then died then the no bus popped up would that be caused by the just bad connection in the gauge cluster?
