I am an industrial sales engineer and for the first time in my life I am IN LOVE with my job! This is the career to have if you enjoy constantly learning new and complex things. You need the brain of an engineer and the brain of a salesman at the same time. As daunting as that seems, the payout is coveted especially at a company with uncapped commission. This is the career to pursue if you desire to have a 6-figure income.
Can u Help 🙋me
May you help me?
Got a sales engineer role. I've little to no knowledge but ended up getting the job. Great video!
Great to hear and best of luck on the new journey! GO CRUSH IT 🔥
How do you like Sales Engineering so far?
He is it in DELL as a sales engineer analyst? If yes can i connect with you!
How has it been going?? I’m really interested!
@menith update ??
I recently got job as Sales engineering. Thanks for the video
Congratulations! Happy for you
I recently got the job as a Sales Engineer and this video gave me an insight on how to be one. Thanks Alex!
Glad to help! All the BEST on the new journey 👍🔥 let me know how it all goes!
@anggada How has it been , can y give us an update 1 year later ??
Hey, I don’t have any engineering degree. What I do have is a technical school degree (electrician) and I got a sales job for a solar company as a sales engineer. If you’re bright enough and happen to have adhd lol. You can do it without a college engineering degree if you have the ability to hyper focus and teach yourself how to design technical systems and sell them to commercial/residential customers you can absolutely be successful as a sales engineer without a bachelors degree.
Thanks for the insight, Joseph! How you liking it so far?
Great video 🔥
I appreciate it 🙏
Hi! Just recently been offered a SE position in my current company. Thanks for sharing what you know!
This is amazing and happy to know! Congratulations!
How much you earn
SE best kept secret in jobs. Been an SE starting in Data Governance, Digital Evidence Management and now Identity :)
Cool, how do you like it so far? I'm kind of considering it now after hearing so much good feedback LOL!
@ExplodingEvo why best kept secrets ??
@@raulb5323 cause it simply is the best job.
@@rahusphere how? Pls give me a detailed explanation, i have an interview tomorrow for SE but im not so proud abt it, i feel its more being like a salesman rather than an engineer… would love to hear your view on this
Bro great video
Love from India
Thanks, I appreciate you!
I love this job! 😃
Wooo! How long have you been doing it! I’ve been hearing great things!
@@alexisidro - in total I’d say 5 months. We need to chat sometime!
You on LinkedIn?
@@TonyMoze yes sir let’s connect!
Im on my final year of BS Industrial Engineering program and I've been thinking of this field. I'm not an extrovert but i am rooting for this field because of above the average starting salary. Btw! Great video. Very informative 👌
I appreciate you, thanks! Best of luck
I am an industrial sales engineer and I make $27,000 salary however I make up to $16,000 a month in commission. I do not have a college degree. It's about the ability to learn several complex industries QUICKLY. You've got to be an mental sponge in this field.
@@dlh1282same here. Got the job and the title without a degree. I made it up in experience
ANy videos on on target earnings or commission for SE?
well, i'm not really an extrovert person but when searching for job offers i found a lot of vacancies as a sales engineer . so should i give it a try and apply or just continue looking for jobs that suits more my personalty
I'd just apply. You never know what it will lead to. See what happens!
I used to work at a charter bus company and we had a sales staff. Oddly, they never actually used the product they were selling. I suggested they ride along on some of the charters to gain a more in depth knowledge of the product but they felt like that was a "terrible" idea.
I’ve been working as software engineer for few years and have just been approached for solution engineering position. Does it make sense to make such switch in the long run?
Depends on what you want:
Here are some questions to consider:
What do you want long term?
Do you want to switch things up now? Tired of software?
How will the switch benefit you now, or in two years?
Look at the career potentials for each path and see which aligns more with your vision
Do you want to work more with people? Or less?
Lmk how it goes!
@@alexisidro thanks for getting back with these interesting questions worth pondering.
1. Tough one about long term as I might not even want to keep working for someone else and rather might want to start something of my own. Maybe defining long term would make it easier to me. My bad 😅
2. I’m not tired of software development but given I worked previously at startups, working at a corp with 100k employees feels slow and when I see people with 20 years of experience in my team with the same SWE title, it makes me want to push myself further to not stay stuck in same role for so long.
3. Immediate benefit of the switch might be monetary and also exploring a new side of me.
4. When it comes to what aligns with me, it might probably be a laid back career which I’ll just continue for the sake of continuing until my other income streams make me financially stable enough to not have to depend on a job for a simple living. I’ll focus on working on something I enjoy fully even if that effort doesn’t make any money initially and many such failed attempts even so long I enjoy the journey. I sadly can’t afford to invest fully on a failing venture now financially.
5. I think I like working with people even if it’s not in person.
@@mojjammil Based on what you said, if I were you, I'd give it a shot and try it out.
you'll never know for sure whether or not sales engineering is better if you don't try it.
Given your software background, it's also a nice perk and advantage if you get into software sales. I talked to a sales engineer in that industry a couple of months ago and he said it can be lucrative. Check out the interview here: ruclips.net/video/lUzHf1ajUj8/видео.html
You can always go back to SWE with the experience you have.
Best of luck and come back and tell me how it all went!
@@alexisidro thanks. I’ll check that video out. Appreciate you being so supportive. Keep it up.
I’m always up for trying new things so I’m definitely going to see how it goes.
@Alex Isidro Seems like you would be a translator of sorts. A lot of technical people are lacking the ability to translate highly technical concepts into plain English.
I once met a person who had this ability. I was always confused about the difference between RAM and ROM, but he explained it to me with easy to understand analogies.
I have experience in customer service, presales, renewals, quoting, customer success (specialist/manager/engineer) and account executive.. Can I be successful SE?
100%!
hi , i ak a college student desiring to have a career in sales engineering. what internships do you recommend for the best learning experience ?
Technically, you don’t need one. You can go straight into it like Emmanuel did. In this conversation, he shares exactly how he got into sales engineering with no degree and what type of training he took:
