    Would be great to have your take on tech sales now in March 2024. Given the fact that there have been millions of layoffs in the tech industry. Most redundancies in tech coming in engineering and sales. As most companies are trying to streamline their operations to make profit and survive. Do you think the bubble has burst for tech sales ?

      Good question, I’d imagine not in a huge way. I’ve been at some tech companies with layoffs and haven’t seen a huge effect on sales engineering or technical sales teams as much as I have on actual developers where there has been a lot of layoffs. My theory is that you’d likely want to maintain a strong contingent of technical sales related roles to keep driving business forward and gain new contracts.
      So I’d think there is still a strong demand for technical sales. Like someone said to me once, cutting staff doesn’t necessarily mean lack of growth, but could indicate restructuring of a businesses goals. However I have yet to see tech jump back as strong as it was a few years ago, hoping it will change in the next year or two 🤞

    All advice welcome:
    I am considering a switch to tech sales but I'm torn because I'm a few years away from gaining enough experience as a data engineer to return anytime without starting from scratch if sales doesn't work out. On the flip side, there are lucrative opportunities in sales now, and some friends are already thriving. I'm contemplating seizing the moment, but it feels like a hasty decision without a career safety net. Any thoughts?

    2) Sales skills - need those

    • @ElevateToTheUnknown
      @ElevateToTheUnknown  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hey Carlos, It depends on the position. In tech sales, some roles require a set schedule, especially if you’re managing client meetings and calls. However, many positions offer flexibility, allowing you to create your own schedule as long as you meet your sales targets and responsibilities.

    Hey I'm a Management Information Systems student in university, I'm into a little bit software but mostly of business side. I want to create my own business before my graduation but with my university I want to develop my skills about sales etc.. (generally in business side of my degree) what do you suggest for me? Which path should I follow. Thanks a lot for your answer :)

      Follow the path that's most important to you. You have to choose your own path but creating a business and learning sales go hand and hand. You have to learn how to sell.

      It’s quite hard to do. This is because tech sales requires you to understand the local market dynamics. You also need to make a lot of local calls to prospects. Let’s also not forget physical demos/ networking events with potential clients etc. It is really hard/ almost impossible to have a tech sales role and live in another country.
