- What a turd of a trans. This 6T45 came to the shop in a 2013 Buick Encore. The customer complaint was a slip feel in second gear. The vehicle had 96000 at the time of repair.
For the last few years this family has been hitting the shop door with several different complaints. The most common thing we see with this trans is techm failure. Alot of the complaints consist of hard shifting and different codes. This unit I was not told of any hard shifting but the failure says it's been happening.
If your looking to build on of the 6 spd front wheel drive GM transmissions, always always replace the techm, input and output speed sensors and converter and 456 wave plate. I personally use AC Delco only for this parts. Thank you for watching our videos we really appreciate it.
Automatic transmission techs are nothing short of modern day wizards.
Super film ! Dziękuję i pozdrawiam
This is the first front wheel drive I've seen tore apart. Thanks for the video
Absolutely we love to be the first 🤣🤣🤣
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 I have pulled them and replaced them. Never seen inside one.
We're gonna have to get you inside one, they are really a lot of fun to build.
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 do you work by yourself or with a couple other guys
I've got an office guy and some close friends that help me with a lot of different things but as far as work preformed in my shop I touch every job.85% of my time is alone
Great info even better attitude, thankyou!!reason im on here I have no move in rev and no move in drive.hard parts all look good.only both baffles completely broken.
Darn the luck. Don't forget to check tcm they can cause no move and cause both baffles to break
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 ok thankyou!!
Anytime. Glad to help any way we can
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 Hi Dave was able to my transmission on the road, what happened was oil baffles granated and clogged filter to cause no movement.thanks for your"GREAT"video, mucho, mucho help.
Thanks I appreciate that and glad to hear you got it fixed
Useful video. My bros gf is afflicted with 6T40 so I'm helping him decide to fix that chitbox or replace it. The car is nine years old so it would never be worth paying someone else to fix but if the actual rebuild doesn't svck too much we might do that since used vehicle prices are absurd.
Just out of curiosity, what symptoms do you get when the speed sensors fail? Many thanks. Alan.
I’ve got a 2014 equinox 2.4 fwd with only 50k miles and unless it’s in eco mode it has a real bad 2nd to first downshift when I’m slowing to a red light and I’m out of warranty and afraid the dealers gonna over charge and a transmission shops going to destroy it or scam me idk what to do! I’ve tried flushing it and a drain and refill, it started around 32k miles and seemed to come and go now it’s all the time unless it’s in eco mode
Not sure you’ll see this. But can I use a 2014 cruze tcm in a 2011 cruze with the same 242 number?
What's the difference between a 6t40 and a 6t45? And how can I know which one my car has?
Can you replace just one half of the transmission case or a they a matched machined set?
Ive replaced halfs before without issue just make sure your clearances are all set correctly..
what was the fix for this problem ,broken pressure plate ?
I'm rebuilding my own 6t45 gen 3 and came across the same broken fingers and cracked steel. the thick one at the top i think its called a backing plate. one of my pistons turned out to be bad I bought the hi-per blue brand pistons to rebuild it with. all clutches and steels are in good shape but will be replaced. does anyone know whats causing these fingers to crack? im thinking one of these pistons is over extending and possibly something is not sitting right causing un-even pressure on that back plate which then cracks causing everything to have a little play in it which in turn breaks pistons seals. has anyone figured this out? love the car and would like to put it back together with a fix
