I work at Starbucks, and our drive thru has a camera so we can see the customer
We have a regular who is Deaf and she just writes her order on a sticky note and holds it as close as she can. Works for us 90% of the time!
I like that Starbucks started doing that. I remember when they made that a thing and started having a lot of their stores have at least one employee who knew ASL. They're about to open or have already opened a store where every employee will. Also, now that they have mobile ordering I can imagine that that must make ordering a lot easier :)
I’m deaf too. And i just want everyone to know it’s not like deaf people aren’t capable of anything. The only thing we can’t do is hear. We are not different besides that.

in primary school we had a deaf person so we learnt sign language but when she left we stopped and i really wanted to learn it but they said no so i moved to abother school which teaches it.

I have always wished the schools I went to taught sign language because I think it's lovely.
It wouldve great if your school added ASL classes to the school curriculum. I've been learning the language for 3 years on my own but I did take a class to get more information.
Well if you had a deaf mom you would have been lucky because I have a deaf mom and I never forgot how to speak sign language....but I struggle a little because I have to explain things to her when we’re at stores sometimes......

I'm in ASL 1 and im so lost lol. Its so cool thinking im eventually going to be able to sign that fast and being able to watch yall sign that fast.
I'm also ASL 1, high school. Do you have it 1 semester or all year?

learning asl will change your life let me say that much. my stepson is 16months and hard of hearing since birth he has had hearing aids since he was about 5months and he absolutely hates them *hopefully its just a phase* and we have been learning asl as a family getting early intervention for him and because he obviously doesnt talk much and we are expecting him to be speech delayed . him being able to actually sign a very few words helps SO MUCH at times. not only that but to see the joy on his face when me and dad congratulate him for signing on his own or signing back to us is priceless ... asl has changed my life for the better and iCan not wait to be fluent.

I just found this channel tonight and fucking LOVE IT! I have real sensitive spot for the deaf or hard of hearing. When I was young my teachers thought I was dumb and they found out my hearing was really bad and got tubes put in my ears. When I got my tubes put in I kept asking my mom what’s that what’s that what’s that and she would tell me that’s an airplane, that’s birds, that’s wind chimes. I’m not saying I was anything like this but I have a real big soft spot for deaf and hard of hearing. I love you guys already I’ll be watching everyday. Thank you. Your subscriber Frank Chavez

Unfortunately, there are no classes at my high school, middle, or elementary school that teach ASL or PSE. The college in town also refuses to teach it because they don't see how it will benefit anyone. Luckily I've been checking out books from the library, not the best way but its a start to learn. I plan on taking classes in another town/city in a few years to fully learn ASL.
One helpful website I use is ASL dictionary 👍

Hello, I started learning on my own about a month ago. I have learned a lot, I hope that what I have done can help you..
I have searched for videos on RUclips about basic signs, questions, (I work at Burger King) so I have searched for signs for Customer service.
We actually have a couple of wonderful deaf women that come through our drive thru. They write their order down at the menu board and we ring it up at the window. It is a little difficult for them to do that because what if they don't have paper or a pen. I don't know. I wish there was a different system we could use to better assist anyone with more needs.
I'm the deaf interpreter at my church. I'd like to practice reading signs for when a deaf person comes.

You both work so well together. That's the best relationship, when you know how or what the other wants without really asking and the understanding you both have. I'm just learning sign I'm working on it and watching you two communicate helps me. But I'm not watching your channel as a learning tool, I'm watching you both as you have the same dynamic as my husband and I do. Since it's hard for me to speak, I have an SCI, I use sign, and because you gorgeous started by only knowing the ABCs, and your handsome husband was patient all becaise he loves you. How lucky are you. Keep being amazing.
