The happiest runner on youtube, even when you're in the pain cave you're still full of smiles. You need to enter more races so you post more content for us :) Keep up the good work girl...
Great video. I smiled as I watched as I could recognise all the classic reactions during a long race. Love all your insights and tips too. Invaluable information so thanks
Glad you're back! Totally finding my joy in running again after a bit of off and on, and even did a 20-miler (big for me) after watching your vids. Thanks for telling it how it is! Keep it up!
Great job Sarah! Way to fight through til the end. Congrats! And glad to see you back, can't wait to see that marathon. The sneak peak looked GOREGOUS!
Amazing video! Thanks you for the incredible honesty far too many videos are too glossy and perfect and not showing the pain and at times headspace ultras are all about 💪
It was pretty incredible that you finished! Extreme grit 🧨 I also really appreciated how real this experience was. Must have taken a lot of effort just to talk to us while you were out there
Ohhh....i saw in your face girl that i feel you when i did my 21km for the first time and it was so painful that i thought i coudnt finish my run until that i wanted so......bravo for you 🙌👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 was tough but you made it.
Just watched Heather's Race to the Stones video over on GTN, and wondered if you'd done one for the NDW50, and you have! Chapeau on the finish! I've signed on for next year's run, so this video will probably be watched a few times
Well done, great finish time. I had an absolutely torrid day, stomach problems from the get go and couldn’t shake it off. Hopefully have a better time at CW50 in Sept.
Great stuff Sarah! you passed me with about 10km to go! Had the same fun going off to quick and Box hill and Reigate finished my legs off ha ha. Keep up the good work
Thanks for a great video. Thought that was quite brave of you to post a run where there was a bit of struggle, it's nice to know you're human, but still a legend!!! Thanks again Byeeee! (PS 2:35 :-) :-) _
Great to have you back - really enjoy the videos - well done on another great run 🏃♀️👍 Try and get your hands on some Salamon Ultraglides - highly recommend - great cushioning and great to run in ! Keep up the great work
You mentioned the tracker, I followed yourself, Chris and Dan, two fellow You Tubers, throughout the day. I commented on one of the other guys channels how strangely nerve wracking it was checking in on your progress. Got to say you looked pretty fresh at the finish 👏👏👏👍
That was great you ran NDW50! I have seen it as support crew first, aid station crew and then a runner twice, first 50 miler there. Love it and know most of the places you were showing on your run even after a few years away, how unique the sections are. The first half is so run friendly as i was told before i raced and it worked well going marathon pace there, then cope for the second hilly half. The tracker device is clever. Centurion are so well organised and friendly, trust them to get high tech to look after the runners and get immersive for supporters and crew. Would love to do another ultra with them again. Tried the grand slam one year and missed the medal by 12 miles for lack of energy and issues galore. Ultras are so chill but need to be disciplined too. What sort of pace strategy did you have planned before the race if you went out so hard? Mine was minimum 9 min miles when running to look after my knees and walk at a decent pace where necessary so my friend arrived on 9:54 as a first attempt. Was tough though and you ran solo, that is really impressive. Did you have any niggles or just general over enthusiasm energy issues during?
i had no pace strategy, just thought i would "run on feel" but then kept getting sucked in and ended up pushing myself and mentally just couldn't hold back, probably partly due to it being my first race for a while and just too excited haha! yes centurion are so fab, hope you get to run another one again soon!
@@SarahPlace nice one going on feel. You looked like you were still moving pretty well at the finish, did you sprint for the line? My favourite part is sprinting for the line. So nice seeing a friendly face at that point feeling some adrenaline and the finish line you have to walk around to get to. In Ironman races i feel how the legs are doing. Whether i am biking or running ask if i can do a marathon with what i have left? Go out conservative and build up when the end is in sight. So easy seeing other runners and try to cling on to their tails. The first NDW my friend was getting calf cramp so we walked more and it kept the energy in check. I made pace mistakes in everything after the first ultra. Had an injury and forgot myself so it was fast to start like normal, walking by mid point mostly and a mess by the end. Didnt mind too much besides being very late for my ride home, until final race where it was the toughest run i have ever done WW50 and quit at 38miles and i was the driver. So close. Just assume everyone overtaking is going too hard and you may catch them by the finish at your more careful pace. NDW50 is my favourite, SDW50 is deceptive, feels like it could be fast and doesnt give any rest. NDW you get views, challenges and some pleasant casual sections. Even the steps arent too bad if you are chilled but is it Reigate with the steep track? That was the nasty part for the first half being able to touch it standing up! The steps down to the field after Caterham i was really suffering, walked like a robot down them. The aid station locations are the best, they get such amazing views. One time they had ice cream and jelly at Caterham. When i was on the second aid station one year i did micro pizzas using cake tin sized pizza bases with 4 different toppings. Was so pleased when the boxes came back empty and people enjoyed them.
Great video as usual Sarah. I cant wait to see the marathon video, I've seen the one that Ben put out and it looked a stunning run, but the climbs looked horrific! Just a question on the map screen. So I'm guessing you choose to do the course downloaded on your Garmin but just leave one of the other data screens on and the watch lets you know the turnings and if you've gone off course etc? I never knew that saved the battery ? Great tip, Thanks
Hi Sarah, Really useful video thanks. I have just completed my first competitive 34 mile Ultra and came across your video while searching for a 50 mile event. Looks like a lovely route. My question is how much of the trail is on tarmac/roads.Thanks.
For someone who says they were so tired you looked remarkably good and fresh. Entered my 1st 50km #tarawera because of remarkable people like yourself. Live in Auckland NZ so have no idea about trails 🤔 but I'll suppose I'll find out.
ahh tarawera looks so awesome, definitely one for the future when we can travel a bit further afield again! best of luck with it, you will love it no doubt!
The happiest runner on youtube, even when you're in the pain cave you're still full of smiles. You need to enter more races so you post more content for us :) Keep up the good work girl...
haha yes that is the plan! hopefully not too long to wait before the next one!
Why doesn’t this video have more views? Great watch, well done for almost getting the under 10 hours!
Well done Sarah. The unexpected F-bomb at the start made me chuckle 😂
I was very impressed at how fresh you looked 35 miles in. You're obviously a very calm runner. I'd have been on my 5th panic attack.
Great effort Sarah. Think that was me behind you walking up Box Hill. Those hills were painful 😣
Sarah thanks as always for running, great coverage and kind words, it means a lot!
You whizzed past me on route to box hill. What a day out! Thanks for sharing the race experience and congrats on the finish
Really glad you kept the real reactions in the video! My favorite was the whining❤️ it’s real! Saying hello from Maine, USA 💕
"Expecting a bonk", "So tired" and yet, 10 hours later still smiling. An inspiring attitude and thanks for sharing the footage.
Ben got lucky that night! 🤣
“Stay tuned for an imminent bonk!” 😂😂 Sarah Place! I didn’t think it was that sort of channel 🤣🤣
Great video. I smiled as I watched as I could recognise all the classic reactions during a long race. Love all your insights and tips too. Invaluable information so thanks
Awesome job! Those steps at Boxhill are my personal nemesis! I love running/hiking and wild camping along North Downs and Weald Way
Fantastic achievement Sarah. Never underestimate how hardcore that distance is!! You’re an Inspiration 😊💪🎉⭐️
thanks christina!!
So glad to hear you’ll be posting more! As always, great job! I really enjoyed this race vlog too, the passing the girls and the gel comments 😆😆😆😆
You run on so many different terrains! Including foot bridges 😂 Great run and thanks for sharing the content.
Glad you're back! Totally finding my joy in running again after a bit of off and on, and even did a 20-miler (big for me) after watching your vids. Thanks for telling it how it is! Keep it up!

And a marathon two weeks later. Amazing and inspiring.
Thanks Sarah. So lovely to see UK in the Spring and you enjoying your running. Lockdown here in Sydney :-( but can still run on the trials :-)

Great running and achievement to run that far. Really inspiring. Well done.
Absolutely incredible performance Sarah...massive well done to you!!!!
The highs and lows of a race. Nice truthful account of the run. Great effort 👍
Congrats Sarah, great video. I did it in 10:37 which was a 50m PB for me, but the middle section after Boxhill put me off doing it again🤣.
ah nice one ray, congrats! yeah it's so deceptive isn't it!
A very welcome return, great video
Glad to see you back. Your videos are so motivational.
You tell it like it is, that is what I like about you. Well done on your run. Another great video Sarah 👍
You are a happy cute runner. Thanks for taking us along on your race. You did great. Good information and advice.
🤣 had to giggle how you cry for help 🤣 sorry. Well done. Greetings from Switzerland K
The 4 dislikes are from the girls you passed on the trail and spring energy gels 😜😜. Just remember Sarah you signed up for the race 😆
Awesome running; as a newbie to trial running I am loving following you and Ben. Very inspirational and informative.
Absolutely amazing Sarah xx
I totally agree about those gels. They give me GI issues every time, but my wife loves them and thrives off them.
Ohhh....i saw in your face girl that i feel you when i did my 21km for the first time and it was so painful that i thought i coudnt finish my run until that i wanted so......bravo for you 🙌👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 was tough but you made it.
congrats on finishing in a great time! 50 miles seems so unattainable (to me), it's hard to imagine that you did the 100!
Love the content thanks for such great enjoyable videos.
Just watched Heather's Race to the Stones video over on GTN, and wondered if you'd done one for the NDW50, and you have!
Chapeau on the finish! I've signed on for next year's run, so this video will probably be watched a few times
Nice work! And also great support on your husband recovery! 50miles is amazing !!!
Well done, great finish time. I had an absolutely torrid day, stomach problems from the get go and couldn’t shake it off. Hopefully have a better time at CW50 in Sept.
Excellent vid Sarah. Looking forward to the next one.
Thanks for sharing. Those look like some great views. That looked like a tough finish, great job!

That was amazing! You were totally having a tough time but showing such elegance. A very tough lady.
Amazing effort! Thanks for sharing with us
Thanks for a great video. Thought that was quite brave of you to post a run where there was a bit of struggle, it's nice to know you're human, but still a legend!!! Thanks again Byeeee! (PS 2:35 :-) :-) _
Awesome Sarah. So inspiring. I wish every government provides some kind of credits to everyone who is active since active people use less health care.
Fab to see a video again Sarah. Missed your content x

Aww well done Sarah
I just wanted to reach in a give you a big hug 🤗 💗
Great video, great time for such a distance.
I love the phrase "Debbie Downer Day". Think I will use that! Great vid and great persistence in getting it done. Congrats!
Beautiful scenery for a run, esp the trail section with the rolling hills. Wish i had something like that nearby
You mentioned the tracker, I followed yourself, Chris and Dan, two fellow You Tubers, throughout the day. I commented on one of the other guys channels how strangely nerve wracking it was checking in on your progress. Got to say you looked pretty fresh at the finish 👏👏👏👍
ah thanks so much for following along here and on the day itself! very much appreciated :)
Congratulations! Beautiful trails
IT was worth waiting for. Great vid!

So pretty! I really want to do that route now.
