Final Thoughts On Having Completed The North Downs Way 100

Before moving on from the NDW100 I feel an obligation to highlight the key actions that I should have known or should have done better in the hope that:
A. They help someone else avoid these pitfalls
B. And more importantly...help me avoid these pitfalls going forward
Overall the race was a success but, in the intervening month, it has given me pause for thought on more than one occasion. Here, in visual format, are those thoughts.

Nice to hear a bit of reflection on a race, esp a 100 miler. Also guilty of overloading... When I finish any race I ask the unused contents of my bag if they enjoyed their wee trip 😂

Thanks Brian, I plan to continue doing post-race videos just to ask the questions “what did I learn?”, “what would I do differently?”. There’s always something that can be tweaked 👍

So glad you are going to get a new watch - have you looked into maps etc on your phone?

Hey Michelle, yes, before using the watch in Cape Wrath I used my phone but, in reality, the watch is a game changer. When it is set up correctly it is so fast and convenient. I wouldn’t go back to the phone now…but would still have maps on it for backup alright.

Yep, I’m hearing a chorus of Coros so when that happens it generally means there’s something to it. Don’t have any more particularly long races this year so will hold off until closer the time in case there is some sexy new model.
