Great to watch considering I've just finished the NDW 50 for the 2nd time as last years event I missed cut off by 4 minutes and this year made it with loads of time in the bank. Such an amazing achievement as the thought of going another 50 miles from where i finished yesterday probably would of killed me. Well done.
Thank you for making this. I was also at NDW100 2021 but the conditions beat me and I dropped at 40 miles. I'm going back this year though (2023) and have already started praying to the weather gods :)
Good luck with your training! I think we had very unusual weather in 2021 - typically it is hot and sunny, so a different kind of challenge. Hope it works out for you!
Great effort and great vlog. I’m trying to transition from road races to trial with the aim of doing races like this within The next year. vlogs like this truly inspire.
That means a lot, I’m really glad you enjoyed it. I was all about road running until about two years ago but I haven’t looked back since. Enjoy the transition. - adventure awaits!
Well done! I actually finished about 15 minutes after you - my first 100 miler as well! Hope you’ve recovered well, really made me smile watching this and reliving the experience so thank you for sharing (still having nightmares of Detling steps)
Well done on a super race and first 100miler! I chose to do and film the SDW100 last year instead but also keen for this one, so thank you for your insight and experience! Planning any more? What did you find hardest about this race?
Thanks, I’m really glad you found it useful! Will definitely check out your SDW100 video as I have that race coming up later this summer 😅. The part I found hardest was the stairs after Detling - I hadn’t recce’d that part, and from the course description etc just didn’t have a concept of how long and challenging that stretch was going to be. Coming right after a cheerful aid station it really deflated my mood. If I’d known it was coming I think it would have made a big difference, mentally, so how I handled it. Otherwise it’s a great course and I enjoyed the majority of it!
@@runjamesrun Thanks for the info. Don't let my ordeal in the SDW100 put you off! I struggled with the heat and the hills were relentless. I couldn't recce any of the route so did it blind but glad I got it done. I tend to struggle to fuel properly in the heat and generally after 40miles. Working on that this year! Best of luck!

Congratulations! It was hot out there on Saturday - I'm so pleased you had a good race 🙌
Superb video! Really well done for finishing such a challenging race. You've captured well all the highs and lows.
Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed it
