So I've just been rafting on the Yukon River for about an hour. Learning how they fish, clean fish, forge for food, visiting a cool eatery/store, learning to smoke fish. Seeing very skilled people enjoy life and each other. Pretty amazing from my patio in South Florida !! Thank you Brooke, that was amazing !
One of the things I really enjoy about these kinds of videos is there always seems to be a well-loved, happy dog. Annie, Maisey, Cally. So many of them. It makes me so happy. 😊
Brook, Dave and Neil. You guys are living my dream. I'll be 75 this year and it is still my silent dream to visit Alaska before the good Lord calls me home. But with the price of gas and other things I guess I will live my dreams through you fantastic folk. God Bless and keep on recording. Love you guys.
This two video program was AWESOME! You two should do more of them with your friends. Life on the river is amazing and so calm, hard work at times, but so cool! Thanks for bringing these different life experiences to us city folk! Love both your channels.
Oh my goodness!! I haven't sat back and laughed like that in a long time. Love love love all your great adventures feels like I'm along for the fun!! Thank you 💞😊
Experiences and friendships like this are the very essence of life. You and Dave are truly blessed. Annie is a hoot! Neil is amazing and a treasure. I wish we could all live and work like this.
What an awesome adventure you took me on. It was wonderful watching the beautiful salmon being pulled from the net. Then the smoking of the salmon looked so delicious 😋. Thanks gor this video. 🦋🍎
Years ago ..read "Coming into the Country"..have dreamed about Alaska ever since. Thank you for sharing your beloved state with us in so many special ways... videos that are unique, warm, inspiring!
Great two videos Brooke! It sure makes me miss my beloved Alaska. The Yukon looks heavenly. Catching that King so late in the season was a blessing to you all. Thanks for posting! Me: a former Alaskan who left a big chunk of her heart ❤️ up there.
Long time viewer/ subscriber.... Haven't been the type to comment, but I want to Thank You...for the laughter, education, experiences....well, for being you. You go, girl!
I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this. Felt like I was right there with you. And that dog! Life of Riley. He enjoyed the company too. God bless you both. 🙏🏻❤️🇺🇸
Your Yukon raft visit video made me think of my folks moving up to Nome, AK as a US Federal Deputy Marshals officer tasked with preparing several offices/outposts to be shut down and handing the business of local law enforcement to the newly added Statehood transition. They already had 3 of us kids, and one in the oven! My mother arrived at her new home (if you want to call it that) with our baby sister, in early fall. There was much activity when they got there, and we were so lucky that my grandmother flew up from Oregon to lend a hand with all the kids while mom and baby stayed in hospital recovery for a few days. She has sworn she would never go up in an airplane, it was a miracle and our delight to have her with us! The stories my folks and my older brothers tell of our 3 years up there, are many. I think you & your husband Dave would so love to hear or talk to them of some amazing adventures, and pioneer living tricks and survival rules to stay & keep 4 kids alive and whole. My mother is 93 years old now and still has her wits about her most of the time, and loves to tell of those days. She was a twin girl from Norwegian immigrants born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, so she and her twin lived such completely different lives. I’m babbling and just wanted to say thanks for getting me primed for a trip down memory lane! I really enjoy your videos and aspire to be like you when I grow up…(I’m 65yrs, LOL!). Peace little sister in the woods!
I absolutely love this series! Of course I love all your outdoor adventures and your recent cooking videos! Well done! Thank you for sharing your life with us. God bless you and your family, 🙏
OMG my mouth is stil watering at the sight of the smoked salmon! Thanks so much for introducing us to your friend Neil, and taking us on this trip with you. What a blast!
Poor Dave, so wore out. I love Neils' pup, so relaxed enjoying the dog day afternoons. But what I really love, are all the flowers around the raft. What a good guy. Neil needed that for the bear, for a scare and cook it up. haha Dave in the canoe, so peaceful looking. If you keep some of those hornets stuck to the salmon, that's just more protein. OMG that colander my parents had when we were growing up, well not that one, haha I was wondering about the tourists stopping. That was nice of you telling those guys about Neil being a great log raft builder, did they know who you were, or Dave? I could go on and on. I really can't wait to get up there. Always wanted to go to Alaska, no one I was ever with thought it would be found, but we always went camping, but Alaska I guess was too much. I'll be 65 when I get there, but I will. No more regrets over this dream. My daughter will be 23 and into her life and my pension will be kicking in. Love you and thanks again. Be Safe
Both parts great! This was so much fun! I want some of that smoked salmon! Neil and Annie are awesome and of course our Brooke and Dave! I'm looking at that blowtorch again---ohhhhhh yeahhhhh! 💕👏🏻☺️
Dagnabbit! In a hurry to post, I forgot to say Great to see Dave!! Yall are a handsome couple, so blessed to have one another with your beautiful children! You're living the life many can only dream of!! Blessings guys!
Wow, looks like a great catch, and smoking the salmon, something I’ve heard about, yet never seen before; nice. I have to say I love the torch, a great way to start the fire, especially in the middle of winter. Thanks, Rich Blessings
Sure is a great couple of videos. Nice seeing you two relaxing with good friends. No worries. Something about the North that pulls you. You may leave but it still has that pull on you. Greetings from the Arrowhead of MN.!!
King Salmon smoked the day it was caught ... yowza! Good to see Dave get a little rest in between assignments (LOL)! True freedom for those willing to make it happen. Thanks for sharing some inspiration! God Bless
Hi Brooke n Dave. I have just watched the two vids from the raft. Thank you they were both awesome. I now know I am living in the wrong part of the world. I am green with envy.
Really enjoyed this 2 part. You got good family girl. The smoker reminds me of the Cooking Cajun smoker, same design. I burnt 3 of them to the ground in the 60s, 70s and 80s, smoking everything that wasn't fast enough to get away from me. Fish, poultry, wild game, you name it i smoked it, yeah yeah whatever. Peace.
Man oh man just love these river raft shows thank you Brooke you have such a awesome life 😁 rofl love how you tell those two men to sit and look pretty
Go away hornets! Bring in the honey bees! Put a honey glaze on dem salmon! Neil is a man's man, Annie is a man's doggie. I had a pup who talked too( cud bark out I love you) ! I swear !! Great vids- just wanted a part 3. Never enuff! Great fun, friends, food. Tks Brooke- maybe some sourdough hushpuppys. 😜
Awesome part 2 Brooke. So, the truth comes out...you're the slacker off camera and make Dave and Neil do all the work. No wonder why they have to rest whenever they can. LOL!!! It looks like you all had an amazing time. Thanks again for another awesome video Brooke. As always, be safe and take care. See you next time.
Hi guys, again, you out did yourselves. These are the kind of videos I like to see. Especially when it includes another old Sourdough. That smoke Salmon sure looked delicious, I wanted to reach right in and grab a piece but, Neil got it first, LOL. That sheefish sure looked good as well. It's been snowing here in Willow for 2 days straight and it is wearing me out and it's still snowing as I type. Funny, I remember when I use to say as I write, lol. When I clean fish, I use a piece of indoor/outdoor carpet seems to keep the fish from sliding around. I'm sure you and Dave enjoyed your time back to your old haunts and being with old friends. That's why I well never leave Alaska. Thanks for sharing again.
excellent video. You will have a lifetime of awesome memories to reflect on one day Brooke, and that is worth more than all the wealth in the world. Thanks for sharing this fond moment with us all:) ~Kevin
