- Control your radio controlled plane with the Multiwii platform. Using one Arduino NANO we make our radio reciver with the NRF24 radio module. This radio receiver will give us a PPM signal with the 4 received values: throttle, yaw, pitch and roll. A second arduino will be our flight controller. As an inertial measurement unit (IMU) we will use the MPU6050 module connected using i2c comunication. This flight controller will receive the PPM signal from the radio receiver. We upload the Multiwii code to the flight controller, make all the connections and the plane is ready to fly streight.

I would like to make some questions/suggestions.
1)Can't wait for the test flight.Will you upload it soon?
2)I believe you should also post merged stl files(for example the wings could be 2 pieces instead of 3 pieces). This would make the plane tougher and easier to assemble ,i believe.
3)It would also be nice to post a parts list with an approximate cost.
4)Last but not least i would love to see this plane with a landing system!That would be cool!

You seem to have a magnetometer installed on your setup as the multiwii on your screen shows magnetometer detected at 8.34 . But there is no magnetometer in the circuit.

How I can use this setup with PWM? Because I want use a receiver of my transmitter DX8.

Hola, he estado haciendo por mi cuenta un proyecto parecido este fin de semana. Aun no lo he acabado, y así por casualidad me sale este tuyo. Me hubiese ahorrado un rato de pensar y picar código en arduino. Yo utilizo receptor propio de la emisora y las salidas del receptor las conecto a un arduino que se ocupa exclusicamete de leer del receptor y escribir en los servos. Si uno de los canales le llega alto activa una señal que leen otros 2 arduinos, uno que tiene de los controles del roll y pitch (tengo una imu y un barometro que utilizo para la altura) y otro que tiene gps para ocuparse del control del yaw, estos 2 ultimos arduios sacan una señal que le devuelven al primero que establece el PWM de los servos. Aun está en proceso de acabarse pero bueno, como idea para ampliar el tuyo(aunque ya comentabas lo del gps). Por otro lado, queria preguntarte valores que has puesto en tus controles, yo he hecho un PID para roll PI para el yaw y aun me falta diseñar el que será un control en cascada para el pitch/altura, y no tengo claro con que valores empezar a ensayar. Mi impresión es que los del video sean los que sean son muy elevados, parecen mandos muy energicos. Cualquier respuesta será bienvenida. un asludo de otro ingeniero electronico

Es una mezcla de carrera y aprendizaje por mi cuenta. La teoria la aprendes más en las clases asi que presta atención. Arduino y modulitos ya por tu cuenta. Internet esta lleno de información. Pero le tienes que dedicar horas y horas. Luego 3D, paginas web y video ya totalmente por tu cuenta.
Como imaginaba entonces. Al fin y al cabo la cuestión es ser capaz de solucionar los problemas tú mismo, no que te lo den ya masticado. Ya llevo un tiempo en este mundillo, pero en temas de programación siempre me había quedado en el ámbito virtual, a ver si me pongo con el físico. Por cierto, el controlador de vuelo realmente no es necesario no? es decir, es un "complemento" para estabilizar el avión y asistir a la navegación correcto? (para un dron es otra historia)
Si, supuestamente en el caso e un avion podrias controlarlo tu directamente sin controlador de vuelo. Aunque para un avion RC de este tamaño (pequeño) es muy facil que pierdas el control porque hará movimientos muy bruscos. Pero si, puedes enchufar el receptro a los servos y al motor directamente y controlarlo todo MANUAL

why do you need the 3.3v stepdown board? the arduino nano has a 3.3v vcc pin?
Because as I say in the video, the 3.3 voltage regulator of the Arduino NANOcan't supply enough current to the NRF24 radio module. This RF module needs more current than 200mA and the maximum NANO current output is around 200mA. That's why I use an external voltage regulator. That will assure me that the RF module won't lose connection or reset. You could use the 3.3 of the NANO as well but that might give you problems. ANd if the RF is the PA and antenna one you would definitelly need an external voltage regulator. Keep up!

yes and it does the arduino 6050 is only there to stabilize the plane warbirds are extremely touchy on the controls and just as hard to fly war birds are considered among the hardest model aircraft to fly

An Arduino with MultiWii is kind of outdated. A more powerful board would work really good.

Did you ever git this to fly? I have been making slight mods to it. I added some balsa ribs and bulkheads to make the hatch area stronger while still allowing access for the lipo to go in the nose. Adding bulk heads to the canopy allowed for neodymium magnets to hold the canopy on. I have been building and flying planes for over 20 years and can say this has great details and with some small changes is great build. I am using standard rx and tx but still this is the best detail spit print I have found for rc.
Nopetard the magnets idea is awesome. I use elastic bands for that. I'm glad you say that, it's quite large project. Maybe you could share some photos with your finished printed plane :)))))

On this plane no. You can add a camera because is quite light. But try using a small 3S lipo battery.

Buen video amigo, te ganaste un sub, saludos desde Venezuela, sabes intento hacer lo mismo pero usando un receptor 6 canales, sabes donde puedo configurar o asignar los pines de entrada de señal que van del receptor al arduino en el codigo del multiwii?

The signal pin for the ESC is also connected! I've changed the schematic to create no miss understanding. Look for the yellow wire from digital pin D9 here: electronoobs.com/images/Robotica/tut_4/Full_schematic.png

Make sure you have a good Java platform installed. Also make sure what windows you have... 32 or 64 bits. Of still not working try re-installing the Java or maybe search for another multiwii to download. I've got the same problem on my laptop and only worked after I re-installed windows. I hope you manage to make it owrk withaut that...
