I'm facing a small problem everything works except channel 3 nd channel 1 I assinged d8TO CHANNEL 3 and it works fine but rudder is moving approx 80-90 on one side and 0-10 degree on another side please tell me how to fix this issue.
I learned that first rc plane is not perfect 😒
Can you 🙏🙏 🙏mention the size of this ✈️plane because I don't have cutting machine your plane is Awesome👏👏👏 and I really want to make it so please🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 mention the diameter of this plane and the items please
What's the range of the controller
The same thing has happened to me when I first build my RC plane that is CRASH. I was so disappointed with it because I build it so passionately as you did. After a lot of hard crashes and rebuild still, I was unable to fly properly. I came to know that Flying is also as important as building it...Then I improved my flying skills on Realfight RC simulator on my PC and after a little a bit of practice I did it...It as flying perfectly. I also recommend everyone to practice on an RC simulator before having your first flight...
And as always this tutorial was also great...
Thanks for the input. That's true, you really need flying experience as well, especially if you are a beginner.
Nice shirt ;) Good to see a face behind this great content!
Respect for your patience after so many crashes. I am building a huge drone for research at my institute and hope that it won't crash like this😅
Greets from an engineer
I hope you won't crush like me as well. :)
Thanks, cheers!
I've been hooked on aerodynamics since I was college. We only built gliders and experimental with ideas. I'm 69 now. You might look into the FFM family of wings. I had one wing I kept for decades, they said back then you can't glide that far on short so a span. I found out years later what I'd really built. I had just kept it because it flue so well and far. Great job. We built ours on tissue and wing dope.
*nice*
You did well if that was your first experience flying a model, it took me a year to learn to fly and I had plenty of help with top of the range (then) gear in the late 70s, I still fly now, congratulations.
at 3:55, the use of a curvy lower edge, at the tail boom, makes it HEAVIER !!!!
Big respect! You’re an inspiration source for me. Thank you and please continue...
Thanks!
@@HowToMechatronics ..please Sir can the also power a CCTV camera.. I will like to design such but thinking of adding CCTV camera than zoom picture or record
This is a really good tutorial for making a cheap but effective plane. This form is almost always used in starter planes fit for new pilots. It looks great and seems to fly very well.
The styrofoam seems to be very brittle though, I'd probably use a more flexible foam.
For construction I wouldn't use hot glue due to the fact that once it cools, it's permanent and you don't have a lot of time to get everything aligned and then press firmly. It also easily melts styrofoam. I'd recommend using model glue. You'll recognize it in the store by the fact that it comes with a spray bottle of accelerant. Just drip a generous amount (enough to cover the area but not too much so it squeezes out and drips) and take your time aligning the parts. Once you're done, push everything together and spray the seam with accelerant. Don't worry about getting it on the inside, the glue will dry on its own. The accelerant is used to speed it up initially, but it is not required. This gives you a lot more time to make sure everything is perfectly aligned. Note: this type of glue doesn't always stick to tape! Make sure you test if it does.
Thanks for the input!

I have tip for you, on foam, put some stick glue, and then add paper. I did so for plane then even 3mm foam + colored paper from both sides, create very strong structure. And it's super easy to do. Btw, multiple rounds of paper, and glue is super strong, and light material, widely used for pirotechnics.
I think the plane going to the right is due to the rudder having more surface area in the right side so more contact area (due to the groove and being glued on the left side) gluing the rudder smack in the middle should solve it or trimming with potentiometer like you did
great stuff
as a pilot I noticed immediately hat you would be tail heavy when you put the two servos so far back, bringing them forward would give a better balance I think.
All in all great efforts and well explained, and not afraid to show mistakes and learn from them.
Hey, thanks for the input!
You deserve more subscribers, views and likes. One of the best channels and videos.
You're way too humble man.
I never looked at all those micro servos I have accumulated from buying cheap arduino kits as useful.
One of my best youtubers of all times
one of the best grammars of all times
First of all, I think what you did was amazing for a guy who has no experience on RC airplane.
IMPORTANT! DO NOT REUSE BROKEN PROPELLERS. You can hurt someone if you're unlucky. Go buy a bunch of propellers.
I suggest you can 3D print a joystick that is longer than this black one, to have more percise control(something like those commercial transmitter, a stick shape thing). Compares to only using my thumb, I discovered that with both my thumb and index finger grabbing the joystick I can achive more percise control. Crashing is common in RC airplane, if you feel upset crashing, go fix it and try again, you won't feel so bad after you've crashed a lot of times😜
Thanks for the input!
Wow like 5 crashes and still you did not relent! Kudos to you for persistence!
From the DIY Arduino RC Transmitter to the CNC Foam to the RC Receiver to the Arduino RC Plane, the build up to this project has been spectacular, even if it was unprecedented (Y). Hats off, @HowToMechatronics. Loved watching your channel for 3 years.
Share the Arduino code brother.
Great Job! I found one of your videos about using nRF24 for wireless communication and it helped me a lot! This video is great too! Congrats!
Greetings from Spain
Huge Respect! You have some serious determination and skill. Keep going.
Omg I am impressed with your patience
excellent projects, I hope one day he taught us how to make a cnc to cut those small pieces of aluminum. Greetings amingo
Buen Video, Greatings from Perú, I have a similar channel, You are a great motivation for me, and my channel.
at 3:40, tail boom is HEAVY, because it has been tapered, in ONLY one axis.
You are great man
Next time we want drone with that transmitter
Deserves a huge thumbs up mate
Thank you!
Sir you should use two brushless motors but yet a great job
this looks really proffessional. good job
Hello sir
Can u make a tutorial on how to make a drone with the same transmitter and reciever ??
It would be a great help 🙏🙏
Pls sirr
Wow 100 % diy did you make the foam and propellor and electronics your self two?
No no hate you did a fantastic job!
Almost lost a heartbeat when I saw the plane breaking like brittle glass... But still you kept going... Nice level of patience
paper backed foam, preferably on both sides, would give you MUCH stronger frame, and since it's hollow on the inside it's not gonna weigh much more if at all (double paper backed foam is twice as heavy as no backed foam), it's like building the frame as a double hull ship with consistent reinforcement between hulls (the foam in this case) :D ... use that laser diode on the scara robot you built
This is my child dream come true. I always wanted to do something like that... ohh boy, this one will try to do definitely
You did well! Awesome job
Really nice info, thanks for explain and presentations. I appreciate it 👍

Awesome, Excellent as always
Yes, you are an amazing person. I did get sad when you crashed. You kept going. Thank you for your videos. Please, never stop. 🤗
you projects are awesome
Hey guys, I would love to hear your thoughts about this project, especially from you who have experience with building and flying RC airplanes. Please note that this was my first ever experience with building and flying an RC airplane, so any suggestion and advice will be highly appreciated! (I'm gonna need it for v2.0 😃)
Why you don't want to use 2 propeller?
You should use 6-7mm thick depron, instead of this foam, also your fuselage is very wide and i think its really heavy for this 1000kv motor with all these additional electronics and reinforcements.
I think you should first try to take off and land without landing gear, it's much easier.
@@van_b12 hold up😂, gps is very complicated thing, i think his target is to fly.😂
stay home 😂😂
it cool also i my country foam is banned 😂😂
Step up to a new level, well done
Really amazing man!! Super impressive!! Would you ever want to do a collab with flite test?
You need expo on your radio. Wonderful video. Way to perservere.
22:59 I wonder if it's not the terrain causing the turn but maybe propeller torque? Does the propeller turn anticlockwise when viewed from behind? Because if so then due to Newton's third law, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, the propeller spinning anticlockwise also makes the fuselage want to turn clockwise, which would explain the right yaw and then roll as you take off. Real planes can have a lot of trouble with this, some small planes require quite a lot of rudder when taking off to keep it straight, and don't make sudden adjustments to the throttle at low speeds or it will also make sudden adjustments to the direction of travel
Respect for your patient bro
Thanks!
Nice looking plane! Total weight, before and after duct tape repair.......
Are you going to make a fixed wing next? Great job and video.
excellent project! thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Cheers!
at 8:14, the question is, why did you NOT just cut out the tail boom, Having the correct dimensions? a partial side panel COULD have been designed/used, to 'span'' the join, in the fuselage !!!
This project is so cool but what you need a little bit dihedral that will make it more stable and it a little bit heavy but good work
Yeah, I was thinking about those two things as well. Thanks for the input!
@@HowToMechatronics i had have this experience from RUclips channel called flite test check it they are so cool you will learn a lot from them and I think you can contact them and make them tell you about osom ideas can help you
I am learning to use arduino to make my own rc aircraft in this period of world lockdown .. Using time fruitfully
Great video bro
Please make an Arduino based Quadcopter. I'm waiting eagerly for the same.
It is very much possible. But it's going to be a bit hard. It will require a flight controller. You can certainly make one by using the arduino, but that'll be a lot of trial and error. It would also still need a digital gyroscope chip.
23:00 Life Changing Event.
Good job man 👍🤞 good luck
Bro. Just use dollar tree foam board
You should run an algorithm in the Arduino to counteract the reaction from the motor.
With trims on zero you will see that the plane will have the tendency to rotate in the opposite direction the motor is spinning.
Can I make quadcopter from this transmitter and receiver??
Yes you can, but commercial flight controller use SBUS protocol for RX, I think there exists libraries that can handle SBUS, so just need to modify some code. But if you want to build a drone entirely from arduino, it's a different story...
It seems to be so simple when you explain how to do it..
it would be great to have higher resolution in the control system. great video though! nice to see you post all the hardships you went through to get this plane up in the air. thank you for the resource.
Thanks!
Amazing project, Thanks for sharing.
How was the landing?
Why not 3d print propeller?
They are weaker and more inefficient. But still can try
Amezing!!! If possible plz make vtol drone .........
I love this video. I made a prank with an airsoft gun to get my friends. You can do so much with Arduino
Plz make a simple delta wing
For a first experience, it's actually good, I would recommend using some dihedral on the wing, about 3° and using lower rates on your radio, and for building materials, use foam board, styrofoam breaks very easily unless you use a very high density one. Good project. Cheers!
Hey Joy, thanks for the input! To be honest, your "DIY Homemade RC Airplane" video was big inspiration and it helped me a lot in the process of making this plane. So, thanks for that too. You have really awesome content for RC models. Cheers! 😀
I'm glad you like my content because I also like yours and watch your videos for inspiration in some of my projects.
@@HowToMechatronics hey bro please make v2 of rc arduino plane
And rc arduino Quadcopter
you did quite well for your first time with designing RC plane.
having a bit longer wing would have been good.
an airfoil with higher CL would be better
overall, impressive, considering
Can you teach us how to build a drone using Ardino?🙏🙏🙏
please🙏🙏🙏
Sir,
Can you please make a video on GPS guided boat using Apm 2.8.
Which can be also controlled by flysky transmitter ( or any other) and it should also have auto pilot mode, ie: we should be able to mark the location on the phone or laptop. So that it should go through the marked location. This will be very useful for fishing and many other.
Can you please do this video and it will be very useful for other's.
Nice
cool.
It would be very helpful if you build a Quadcopter with FC and IMU using ur DIY Transmitter and Receiver...
nice experiment. good luck. can it modify including FPV system
It's very nice ,u did a good job.
your determination to overcome failure while upgrading your design outstanding and deserves a Thumb Up for sure!
He created arduino project (rc plane) using arduino projects wow!!!
Project is really awesome 👏!
But can you tell us about the range of transmitter.
Please
Thanks! Well in theory the range of these modules are up to 700m in open space.
Please sir make a octacopter drone. Make the octacopter from the transmitter that you made and it's reciver it has 12 channel esc brushlees moter and 4 channel servo moter. Please I am requested
"You are awesome brother " please , please make a ventilator ,,for covid-19
A Ventilator is pretty simple, built one when I was 9.
I had a cordless screwdriver a bucket a blade wood a screw and a net of aluminum to prevent fingers of entering. Then I sawed the bucket so that it only was 10 cm high, mounted the blade on the screwdriver, used a little wood and the screw to build a mechanism, that is, the further the screw is in, the faster the motor goes, the blade gets vertically in the bucket wich is surrounded by the net and a stand for the bucket out of wood…
Ready
Very very impressive already. These large wingspan planes probably do not need landing wheels and you should just throw it to lunch it
Man i love ur videos man 🔥🔥🔥
I have been subscribed for a long time and you have amazing projects.
Bro tell me range transmitted and receiver
just put a gyroscope and it will be awesome..
thanks for sharing
this really help me...
I like this and I love you . thank you
you are crazy :D good job
hehe thanks! :D
Can u make a joystick lyk the one used for flight simulator
Excelent and nice job, how much the ringe max?
Im also rc hobbyst I think the delay is to high between remote and receiver. Try to use rfm modules like rfm98 the distance will be more longer and stable.
Beautiful
thank you so much
Good explanation
What camera do you use for your videos, do they look great?
as has been noted, a LOT of things were less-than optimal on this model. i encourage you to make another, guided by My comments and what you have learned. as you have sorta learned, the model had a MASSIVELY tail-heavy dom. any prop-powered model Should have a dihedral main wing. (for inboard-located dihedral, design of the wing Should include a 'narrow' center-section. that is, a central part that spans/crosses the fuselage!!) if the main wing of a model has sufficient dihedral, control of the model does Not Require ailerons. and, the MASS of two servos could eliminated !!! btw, the height of a vert-stab should be a bit less-than fifty percent of stab span. googletranslate
my plane is on process and i think this video is verry help me
at 7:17, the use of OVERLY massive hardware/metal bits Should be AVOIDED.
Wait did u go out during quarantine
at 15:40, Adding the MASS of servos At the TAIL, is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG !!!!
You are great ♥♥♥
