      @Robert Hogg I am a grade 9 student and I am trying to propose a new mission to NASA JPL. It’s like perseverance but slightly more advanced. BTW I love all the hard work you guys put in. I really salute you guys, I have had experience in defense and some NASA projects like the AREE rover in the past. The Mars 2020 is a masterpiece and so unique. Every rover is unique and nothing can replace it only differences in mission objectives and new technologies.

    I never realized how the suspension actually works, very interesting, and awesome build. If you're interested in making it drive autonomously, give ROS a go. It is a subsystem implemented in Linux to easily create robot projects. There's also an Arduino library for ROS, so you can implement all the high level software like image recognition, speed regulation, path planning etc. on the host, and offload low level control like the steering, angle calculation, remote control and so on to the Arduino. The host PC and the Arduino will keep in communication with each other via the serial link.

    • @dyrgewolf
      @dyrgewolf 2 года назад

      For ROS, it might be better to have the computer running most of the nodes on the robot itself. A Raspberry Pi would work for this and couple replace a lot of the work the Arduino does. Another great solution (though, much more technically challenging) would be to build a custom SoC board which the FPGA fabric handling the connections to the other hardware and the PS running ROS.

    • @nrdesign1991
      @nrdesign1991 2 года назад

      @@dyrgewolf Yep, either an on-board PC, or a linked external PC, via WiFi would both work perfectly.
