Before Helldivers 2 came out I always felt Dead Nation would be amazing in 3rd person Sony should get on that
Now I’ve reached the dreaded over 30 mark i no longer get all that excited for new games. My reaction to a new game announcement that looks decent is “yeah yeah, we shall see” Maybe its the years of disappointing, buggy, misadvertised games that we have had, or maybe its just because part of being an actual adult just makes you more cynical, i dunno.
I do however still enjoy playing a good game just as much, if not more so than when i was a kid. there are few things in this world thats as good as discovering a great game, and getting that craving to play during work, or getting the video game dreams.
Helldivers has well and truly burrowed itself deep into the deepest parts of my brain and i love it. Feet first into hell divers!!!!
As a 30+ senior citizen I can relate, last game that reminded me why I’m really gaming was mass effect 2, you know the feeling of finishing a great game and that you might never play anything as good?
I’m also more of a single player guy, but damn I love this game, just started too, many things to see and try and I’m very excited, the only thing that can sour the experience is other people though, didn’t have any incidents but one (lost a ton of samples) but I suppose that’s unavoidable, but it is a reason I stopped playing overwatch (long, long time ago) because every other game there was someone completely out of their mind and dealing with it wasn’t worth.
It's buggy but it's so fun!

I cannot believe it took people this long to follow Warframe's example.
boom! right here, friendo! this is what ive been saying this entire time! not since warframe have we had a small, relatively unknown studio release a live-service coop game, that is non-predatory, extremely fun, innovative, with original scifi lore and a dev team that actively communicates and listens to it's audience, all while releasing the full game at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. like, warframe has been on market for 11yrs now and on any given day it will host 40,000 online players! I also happened to be a founder of warframe and have been playing it since closed alpha 1. when the game finally released, it was very barebones w only 6 warframes, and 3 types of auto-generated closed maps. today, warframe is the most content-rich, massive and complicated live-service coop game... probably in existence! and i was there for all of its evolutions. I have never removed the game from my computer and still check in from time to time. at this point, I havnt even seen half of the content they've released over the last 5 years, there is just SO much!
and here were are at the initial release of a game following in warframe's steps. we are just in the very beginning of where this game can and will go. in a couple years, this game, hd2, is going to be INSANE!!! if the loud, whiny, entitled, impatient segment of the population would just simmer down and let arrowhead do what they need to do, great things will arrive. but it's so demoralizing for arrowhead to have that same segment scream everyrime arrowhead tries to drop some new content that their game sucks! new content sucks! the weapons suck! the latest warbond sucks so bad! the balance sucks! the enemies suck! the spawn rate sucks! the game is too hard! make it easier! make all of my guns the quasar!
like this sort of rude, entitled behavior is just slowing arrowhead down! how can they continue to evolve this masterpiece if they're always chasing the above complaints trying to appease a crowd who only wants the ability to steamroll of the current content, get bored and move on??? give arrowhead time! they have so many awesome things planned for this amazing work of art. and I intend to be here for all of it like I was with warframe.

I was in the exact same situation not long ago. Totally lost faith in the gaming industry and their products. Had an Xbox for my last of games Sea of Thieves and in the same month i learn SoT was coming to PS5 AND Helldivers 2 came out. I traded my xbox for a PS5 and as i discovered Helldivers 2, i immediately fell back in love with the gaming hobby. It saved gaming for me. I sold my pc years ago because i was not gaming in months, my xbox and switch was running like 30 min to an hour each months if not used at all. Since helldivers 2 i play every f day for hours.

The way I feel about modern gaming vs old gaming is more of a options problem.
We used to experience a 6/10 game and feel amazing because there were only 3 or 4 6/10 games.
Nowadays a 7/10 comes out and feels disappointing because we have 20 years worth of 10/10s that you could play instead. And 10x as many 9/10s. And uncountable 8/10s.
this is a deep and rare insight.
it's only rare because lots of gamers have (wrongly) concluded that there's nothing for them to play, whereas there's more to play than ever before, and more varieties from which to choose.
BUT MOST GAMERS ARE BOTH LAZY AND BORING, so they keep barking up familiar trees looking for something new.

You know what i find funny. Balders Gate 3 was called an outlier. That it wasnt some new standard of gaming. They didn't have a publisher.
Helldivers 2 is the next and effectively best path forward for live service games. And now that people have had a taste for it they won't want to play something similar unless it does the same. Its published by Sony.
Where is bethesda or microsoft or Rockstar crying out loud thst its not going to become the norm? They were pretty vocal agsinst an independent studio.

Ik I was getting depressed about all the trending criticism videos. Granted it’s of course not a perfect game and it’s great to have a passionate playerbase who wants the game to improve but creators keep making the same videos of complaints and that’s getting old honestly. Change is coming so they don’t need to spam complaint videos

Im 40 years old and my first gaming machine was a commodore 64 and up to around the playstation 2 era i felt there was certain magic and feelings evoked in games that is very very rare to feel these days. All those feelings came back when i finished red dead redemption 2 and i actually felt sad about the game ending because of the feeling i got when playing it. Now more recently Helldivers 2 is another such game.

I also didn't consider myself a gamer anymore, especially with the multiplayer focus on FPS PVP BR modes, but like you said, Arrowhead made a fun game that eschewed the formulaic design of AAA studios and people like you and me playing video games again is a testament to their design philosophy.

When i started playing and learning the game, me and 10 friends of mine, we played lvls 4-6. Now i am 250+ hours in and play Mosley lvl 8-9 becouse people there know what to do. Most of my friend group stoped playing becouse " its difficult" but for me lvl 8-9 are more like fun challenge. I play Bot front and enjoy it.
But unfortunately friends that stayed at low lvls quit because " boring"

Like the editing style fyi, as if you’ve been making videos for years. I also am not a big gamer anymore but this game despite it’s flaws has gotten me back into gaming. I usually opt for victoria 3 or hoi4 but got burnt out from them and don’t wanna buy dlc. Helldivers 2 gave me back my old passion

One of my favorite things is despite the fact that the termanids are always running straight at you and come in 12 packs from all angles, you can completely ignore them and destroy a large nest without a scratch it your movement is good enough and you aren't wearing a building on your torso
I can't tell you how many times ive told my team "im just gonna hop on over there and die horribly real quick" only to solo a heavy nest without firing a single bullet and then running away like im going to get some milk

Nice video, the video game world has certainly been stale for some time. Major studios are all but expected to create good games and it’s a major let down when they are subpar. When a gem from a small studio like HD2/Arrowhead, it’s a huge breath of fresh air for us gamers.

Every mission is a nail biter 😂. You either have good teammates or you don't, i love the synergy when people know what to do, and when to do it. Every mission is diffrent, i haven’t had this much fun since halo tbh, some matches are just too insane, and i especially love it when i see squad members quit mid game , and only me and one other person finish the mission, this how i find quality hell divers 😂, so i make sure i freind request them quick. Come on you apes, you wana live forever 😂?

I totally recommend Hi Fi Rush, now that it’s on ps5. It’s such a fun, innocent game. If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s fine. But I think it demands consideration.

Yea its that good of a game. 😂 I think the account linking would have had its upsides, for example, we had 2 randoms join that were awfully sketchy (like try and take your credit card sketchy.) They werent good and saying some weird things. The reporting system would have been ok but not the denial of managed democracy for multipul countrys

same boat. the big games got too formulated. a handful of bangers here and there, but more disappointments than anything.
i give more attention to indies. risk of rain 2, vampire survivors etc. then got into sim racing. grabbed a logitech wheel for $200 on black friday and slowly progressed until i had a rig. racing games rejuvenated gaming for me. it helps that i'm a fan of motorsports.
but i missed gaming with the boys. we used to play battlefield 3 and halo religiously. but cod got stale, titanfall wasn't active enough and multiplayer just lost its fun. crucible in destiny 2 is good but too sweaty and meta dominated. everyone plays from cover like their actual life is on the line.
helldivers completely breathed new life in multiplayer for me. all the bros are back together again. talking shit and laughing at each other's misfortune until 5am. giving each other shit for getting yelled at by their wives for staying up too late. it's like being 20 again.
but yeah this is more about what helldivers has done for us. as far as helldivers itself.. it's great, and so are the people that made it. i'm a very cynical person. i don't trust anyone when greed can play a factor. arrowhead has earned my trust. that's very rare today. only a handful of other studios have, like hello games and what they did on their redemption arch. anyway, love the game and love the company

(Not related but)It sucks to see people go in a solo level 9 mission and test out a assault rifle only to get rushed down and then say it’s bad because they couldn’t kill the berserkers easily
Sure weapons should be useful in solo missions but it’s a coop game on the hardest difficulty

I was bored with Helldivers 2 after about 20 hours. The hype was uncalled for by large. Maybe I’m just getting old and not seeing it through the same eyes.
It's not everyone's cup of Liber-Tea (pun fully intended). But many people find it to be a breath of fresh air. It's just bombastic, unpretentious, dumb fun. It's not pretending to be something it isn't, and the micro transactions are among the fairest in the industry.
But it's understandable if it doesn't stick with everyone. The gaming market is highly saturated and hyper competitive, new things come out all the time. Having different preferences is completely fine.

My whole friend group stopped playing this after a month. Give it some time, the issues with helldivers don't rear their face until about a week or two into the game.
I played it for over a 100 hours, never gets boring
@@azrailkimdir4092 I have almost 600 hours, but I never said it gets boring. I wouldn’t know I don’t get bored ever at all. It does get repetitive but what game doesn’t. I have friends whom expressed that it was pointless to play past difficulty 5 as they don’t provide features or equipment suitable for dealing with what they throw at you. Or the constant nerfing of gear, or finding other ways to hinder the player.
My issue is how hard it is to get super samples and how weak most guns feel, and that 100 years after t he first game super earth and tue devs never saw fit to make weapons specialized for dealing with certain enemies.

@@Nebulisreconxbro, idk what to tell you. Helldive difficulty isn't supposed to be easy. If you can't play past difficulty 5 though after 600 hours how can you really claim it's the game's fault you're not getting supersamples instead of just a skill issue
I’m glad you touched on the real attractiveness of this game at its peak. The core audience of gamers just want quality and fun. But there’s a real cognitive dissonance between west coast liberal developers and the core audience that skews conservative, and this is the first real game in a long while that appeals to us and recognizes us.
There’s a saying, when you make a game for everyone you make a game for no one, and that’s true for a lot of things.

When you play it nonstop 24/7 it probably dose. If you only play a couple of hours each week, it stays pretty fresh.

Lets stop pretending HD2 is a small indie game. Granted it's not quite as huge as some other AAA behemoths today, but it's getting up there - it had similar team size and development cost as freaking _Skyrim._ It's also deeply disappointing to me that this is considered nothing short of a "savior" of modern gaming when it suffers from all the usual modern day gaming plagues, just dialed down a notch. It's still a "games as a service" product, came with preorder and upsell packages, had paid day 1 DLC, has monetized gameplay relevant items (weapons, armor, grenades, boosts), monthly paid DLC, obfuscates costs behind an arbitrary premium currency conversion with preset purchase amounts and "wholesale discounts", rotating store, released and still remains a buggy mess and sticks to some very questionable balancing and design choices despite vocal player feedback. Arrowhead is not "the good guys" here, but they are very good at posturing like they were. Arrowhead is a for profit company, and live service products are _very_ profitable. It's just sad we keep reinforcing this by supporting these products.

HD2 is a enjoyable game for sure, I have a few hundred hours into it and have 100% the game thus far, but it's still a modern day AAA game in all the good and mostly the bad and I refuse to give it any money past the initial purchase regardless of how good the core game is under the freemium mobile game business model.
Let me know the last "AAA" title that cost $40.

The “DLC” you can still get the in game super credits by just playing, you get 300/1000 per dlc and just playing the game you can get the rest or play 4-6 hours of level 1 difficulty snd find them in drop pods
@@firehot427 "Just playing" is a bit disingenuine isn't it. If you run helldives efficiently, you're likely getting next to none per mission, and not every mission type contains any in the first place. You have to go out of your way to dig through trash to find dimes worth of premium currency, that doesn't sound like it's adding anything positive to the gameplay experience. Unless you're purposely going after PoI, the amount you run into by accident is merely a trickle. The 750SC you get _once_ from the only free warbond buffers you for the first month, but after that good luck earning your purchases via _natural_ gameplay, even if you're someone like me with hundreds of hours in the game.
And no, I'm not going to go farm trivial when I could rather be playing the parts of the game that are actually enjoyable, I didn't pay for this game to do chores for hours. I made my 20k SC when you could still exploit it much faster, but once that runs dry, I'm done with the game, and I pity those that didn't stock up. This general tolerance, or even _praise_ for greedy monetization as long as "you can run chores for hours for it instead", on a premium game no less, is very disappointing. Truly we are lost, industry greed won.
@@SaltyMaud sounds like a skill issue if you couldn’t find them in helldives and had to run a mission and exploit it to somehow get 20k SC which is impossible since the max you can hold is 2k lmao

Um no. You lost me at "co-op" and having to confer with your teammates. I am a twitchy Gen X loner and I don't play well with others. Unless there's a really good first person solo campaign, this is not the game for me.

Great game! I own it in both ps5 and steam.. it's a sony exclusive so they make the rules.. it's just a bunch of pc sjw karens giving it bad reviews because they can't stand it's a sony owned platform game.
When the linking finishes and dust settles the dev team can focus on the game properly..
It's a great game and recommend it to everyone! Pc players ignore the drama.. steam and everyone else gets breached and harvests your data.. the only difference is Playstation reports on theirs.
