I do like the “industrial clacking” in the background. It really does feel like the entire universe is on a cosmic and paracausal countdown even without looking at the in-game timer.

I agree, the whole sound and instruments really do give off like you're fighting a galactic boss in their empire, something out in space that is not a final battle, but a battle to be won in urgency. The cries of the violins and trumpets along the pacing just makes it epic, deserving of this battle against the Witness.

Am I right in interpreting that line as a threat from the Witness? Considering it’s about to enforce eternal stasis on the universe?
That transition from the 3rd DPS phase into the Final Stand is amazing
My favorite final stand ever, love how hectic it gets
It’s like it’s signifying a major moment for both parties. The large brass feels as if it’s speaking that the witness realises just how close it is to completing the final shape, but has to hold on for just a moment more. All while the lighter undertones are the fireteam realising the same thing but if they fight for just a moment more, all life will be saved. The transition really is a representation of the final stand between light and dark.
@@TheHistoryWaffle Somebody already said it before in comment section, but the way the final stand phase sounds is incredibly desperate. Both the Witness and the Guardians are on their last legs- so close to winning but only one of them gets to come out on top. This is it, it's do or die here and now.
Definitely my favourite final stand in terms of both gameplay and music

That brass is written to give the strings a breather, they count the strings in.
Since Final Stand means, time is no long your friend.
Strings evoke a lot of emotion and one of them is urgency, hence you don't hear it unless dps.
If you have never played strings, that entire final stand hurts the hand no matter how professional you are, they record in multiple takes its not fun.
I replicated it on piano, and my hand hurts.
Don't write something without factoring in music theory.

You can hear the despair of stopping the Witness in that Final Stand. It's only seconds away of completing his Final Shape and the Guardians are giving all they have to stop it. It's more of a desperate action than a heroic one. Both are close to victory and only one can have the last laugh. It's a do or die situation where all of them are tired, but they are still fighting to they're last breath.
Imagine it this way like a light novel: you're the only fireteam to make it this far, you're at the edge of fatigue, but you can still stand with your team fighting against a being that can destroy the universe as you know it at any second. You're at your final stand, you have low ammo, barely have the sufficient light to fight back, but he's bleeding. He's at his limit. Your team and you have to give it all to finish it. You feel in the air that all is changing while the Witness desperately fights back. He has no allies to defend him right now, but he can wipe your team with a simple attack. The Final Shape is at the corner and you have to stop it now. No second chances, no resurrections. This is it.
It’s a fantastic musical choice to represent this final stand music.
It’s giving me “father-son kamehameha vibes but instead of that it’s obviously the pleas the desperation of humanity all of our allies and even the hive screaming for us to be victorious because we alone were the only ones able to stand against the witness and with one final push we released its grip on the traveler giving us one final chance to put an end to this once and for all
i think its also the traveler actively resisting and trying to keep the fireteam empowered (the travelers chosen) we are the last hope and we must stop the final shape at all costs, the travelers will is nearly broken but it can resist as long as you keep fighting. when you can damage the witness you get a buff called surging light. its all it has left, you must use what light it can offer you to defeat the witness
Even DPS phase is the Traveler telling you "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, c'mooooon!!! Keep going! You've got it!"
To add on top of how they delivered the "desperate" feeling, listen to how high the strings are. Almost think of it as the Traveler just BEGGING you and humanity crying for you to give your every last drop so we can stop this cataclysmic deity's complete annihilation

3:11 A refreshing mix of Keep Of Voices (Forsaken) with Oneirophobia (Lightfall). I love how they do it with the violins, trumpet and synthesizers all mixed together, it’s incredible!
Ever considered the fact that it's the calling card of the two composers?
The "mix" you say is to clue in people on who knows their style that they worked on that.
@@itsharibonphNo, I highly doubt that these melodies are being used as producer tags. These are just leitmotifs that are being reused to remind us of all we've done in destiny.
It’s actually the guardian theme, you will find it remixed in a few raidboss themes, like Riven, nez etc.
@@WolfofES Uh, no. It is still Keep of Voices. Guardian doesn't play in this track; Be Brave is what takes its place as the recurring heroic melody in Unmade.
The theme that is prominently referenced in the high action variant of Keep is Inner Light.
@@DarthDookieMan While you're right about Keep of Voices, just wanted to point out that Guardian is present in this track, though it's quite sneaky about it. It's at 3:38 but before the motif can finish it gets overtaken by the Witness' motif.
I can't help but feel so immersed into this song, as the witness itself views the final shape as a symphony, the universe being in perfect harmony, and to hear such a powerful, honestly tear jerking piece, it makes me really miss Salvatori that much more..
Its crazy how symbolic the first few seconds of dps are. Bungie knew we were going to be using still hunt.

0:00 you could tell the witness is fed up with us as we’ve nestled our way deeper into its monolith, it hardly recognizes us as a threat right now since it’s soo close to the final shape and soo confident that it’s already won as we struggle to turn its own energies against it as it toys with us too. This was the first mistake rhulk made.
3:11 we were successful in turning the tide of the engagement and its then the witness realizes the force we are, our armor chipped helmets cracked, titans unleashing their fury with axes made of pure light that the traveler has given and not only that surging in desperation behind us to give us the push we need to actually wound this thing, warlocks unleashing pure light and will given form searing the witness as hunters have blocked out all distractions and are focused on one thing, the perfect shot. The witness gets chills as it witness our will and for a moment breaks it’s “godlike demeanor” to stoop to conquer by physically swatting us away as dps ends.
4:06 the witness is shaken after witnessing the pure rage of will and desperation of humanity and those who wish to live soo up close and continues to do its tasks but with urgency now as we continue the dance to harm this thing once more
5:55 we were successful yet again to get up close with the witness with the night of the traveler freed just a bit so it can aid us yet again to make this thing bleed
6:50 the witness is enraged that it’s had to stoop down to our level to try to hold us off as it’s getting as desperate as we are to fulfill their goals while we are battered, beaten tired bruised and bent. Our armor cracked, but ourselves not broken. It senses that ferocity and it is afraid as it hurries even more hoping its subjugators can be victorious over something so tired but alas it’s futile since now it’s getting sloppy. Our fury that toppled oryx, his son, who decimated its first disciple and slaughtered the living nightmare that was the final god of pain. It recognizes us as a true being not just forged in light but wields both dark and light harmoniously to save and protect others.
10:42 our will has given us one final chance to stand against the witness as its desperate and enraged that we’ve fouled it this far as it hopelessly tried to stop us again but it fails.
11:36 finally at the end of this dance, both sides acknowledges each others conviction, it’s unbound fury to enact their will and hopes and goals. Guardians drained and exhausted of light, titans only driving force unyielding rage and righteous fury. Warlocks transcending harnessing every ounce of the power of the cosmos to destroy this paracasual being and hunters never flinching, never wavering with their hands still steady to take one all or nothing shot with everyone’s will to survive behind it. All the witness can do is realize how far back it was pushed by us, The Guardians, it knows the power we possess the fury, the will that it calls “entropy” for the sake that in the end it’s our lives and struggles that truly make us transcendent to rise even further than what we are and the witness, has lost against it.

The fist action part FELLS like hes not paying attation to you.
Strangely it's not out of arrogance but it's the fact it's way too focused on enacting the Final Shape. The Witness is so single minded and desperate at this point, but so are we, as both the Guardians and the Witness are fighting tooth and nail to win. DPS phases sound so much like "C'mon, C'mon we need to do this here and NOW, the universe is on a clock and this is it." During DPS as well, the Witness is fighting back against you its demeanor flat-out saying "Get OUT OF MY WAY" unlike Nezarec or Rhulk, it's trying so hard to achieve the Final Shape and you're distracting it.
@@10THPROPHETI can definitely hear that "GET OUT OF OUR WAY!" in the Witness's themes that play during the DPS.

It started with purpose then became demented subjugation as it tried to impose its own greater purpose on everything else, cutting away life until a final, perfect shape remained.
Ill never forget my first clear where we soft locked the ending because the final stand ended at the exact moment we struck the final blow

I didn't know this until re listening to it, but Nezzy’s theme has the knocking from this track in the background. its not nearly as prominant and was defiantly subtle foreshadowing
“Stop the final shape”.
Everything about Final Shape was perfect. The missions you do with Micha all starting with “x days before the final shape” and such were such a nice touch. Doing everything in the leadup to the raid race actually felt like we were preparing for something important. The wipe mechanic of the raid outright being the Final Shape occurring just adds to the pile of things that makes this such a good raid

I was really disappointed by the DPS phase music for The Witness until I had an incredible realization. I was saddened that the prevailing motif during the DPS phase was from Keep of Voices instead of Guardian, which has been more or less the "main theme" of the Destiny saga. The more nostalgic motifs, particularly from Untold Legends, All Ends are Beginnings, and Guardian seem to appear in Excision during the high points, which makes sense because that is the true finale to The Final Shape.
So I kept thinking why they chose to use Keep of Voices during the Salvation's Edge Witness fight. Then I realized that the most notable time that Keep of Voices has been used in the past was during Riven's damage phase in Last Wish (granted, you have to do the encounter legit to get the true damage phase where it plays). My line of thought is that this DPS phase pays homage to Riven as she is the reason that we were even able to enter the Traveler's Pale Heart in the first place. You could also say it pays homage to the Awoken as a whole since the Sovs played a large role in allowing us to pass through the portal to get to the Pale Heart.
I think it was more likely because the scorn are part of this encounter like how Verity uses hive motifs and 3rd encounter uses cabal motifs.

@@victorhsu6710i looked unfortunately that’s not it, it’s the boss music in the iconoclasm mission where you fight the ogre and you have to go into the maze with the knights, it’s the dread theme but the witnessy motif on top of it makes it so good in my opinion

You’re constantly on the clock. Every second wasted brings the universe closer to calamity.
You’re not trying to kill The Witness, not yet at least. You’re merely cutting its connection to the Traveler.
There’s no triumph here. Only urgency with the ever-present threat of universal stagnation.
Nah this is a terrible take. Especially when The Witness has three fight themes. This, Stronger, Together, and Make Your Own Fate.

The name of the encounter the script is for takes priority for these types of videos. The tracks that get used are named/credited in the description.

Funnily enough for the winnower's "first knife" the only genocidal thing the witness has under it's belt is whispering and killing 3 guardians by slicing them, otherwise it's only really a false prophet, "we know pain" it only really knew pain after we injured it in iconoclasm, it's the winnower 's first knife, but by some dessenter's pov they weren't in sol to kill, but that brings into question why the osmium dynasty wasn't molded to be peaceful, why Rhulk was even allowed to exist, or why it has a disciple with the title 'The final god of pain'.
The Witness is a contradictory liar too far up it's own ass, so much so that even it's god rejected it.
All of the Disciples and client species were means to an end. The Inspiral lore book even states that every being under the Witness's thrall have different ideas about what the Final Shape is
That and the complete genocide of the Noesis as a species
Bruh the Witness did the Collapse. And nuked Riis. And created the Hive to spread suffering to trillions upon trillions. The horrors this fucking thing is responsible for is far more than killing 3 Guardians in a cutscene.

@@Slimetendo_Hub No, the Witness was there during the Collapse and is the one responsible for most of the devastation inflicted upon the Solar System.
And yeah Rhulk was the one that did the pact with the Worm Gods, but it was the Witness who sent him and lied to Sathona about the God Wave.
