- Eileen gets the opportunity, for the first time in her life, to visit one of China's biggest cities. Once there, events happened that changed her life forever. Listen to Eileen tell her personal story and at the same time, practice your Chinese listening and learn some great new vocabulary!
The story is slowly narrated and accompanied by Hanzi, Pinyin, English translations AND literal translations. The literal translations allows you to learn Chinese vocabulary without having to constantly stop the video and refer to a dictionary!

Any chance you will do the 'walk around' videos again? You might think it is dull or uninteresting. But for foreigners like me it is great to see the daily life of people while walking the streets. On the one side it is relatable but also 很不一样。
完全同意,对我们外国学生谁还没去过中国,那些视频很有意思哦!
*TOO FAST?* Control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time on desktop computers and laptops OR 25% at a time on smartphone!
Access the playback speed controls as follows:
*Desktop Computers and Laptops:* open the video, then go to the lower right of the video's screen and click on the settings icon (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link "custom". Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time.
*Smartphones:* open the video and go to the upper right of the video's screen. You will see 3 dots. Click on them and you will see the link to open the "playback speed" controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you greater control over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones).
This is the greatest way for learning Chinese I have seen so far
I like this video very much !!! hen you yiside shipin !!! We are waiting for your new video, laoshi !!!
This was a riveting story. Your determination is inspiring.
I don't study Chinese. I just love listening to you, particularly when you share your personal stories (plus, you're a great storyteller). After each one: "Wow. Well done! You're amazing!" and "What happened next? I want to know ^o^"
much improved version than the last one, clear and confident presentation
谢谢!
This is not only a great learning too but also an amazing and inspiring story! Thank you so much ❤ Congratulations on your achievements, and I hope you keep reaching out and fulfilling your dreams ✨️
很有意思! 我希望可以继续这个故事。 我在2014年也在深圳住过,在一个学校学汉语。😊

Well done Teacher... Thânk you for all your hard work and effort... 😊
I started watching your videos I think more than 5 years ago. Now I can you speak Chinese pretty well. And I'm in Shenzhen. If there's an opportunity I would love to meet you.
Thank you
Hello Eileen. Love your content. Thank you for producing high quality content consistently. One remark, personally I find your new text format hard to follow. Im approx hsk4.5, but as most western students I think i struggle to read from top to bottom instead of left to right. Even at 0.5x speed I am struggling to follow. I am guessing you are experimenting with formats. For me, I would prefer the old left to right format that includes hanzi and pinyin. Translation optional. I think you used to have recordings that paused for a bit to read each statement. I would like those. Thank you. Keep up your excellent work
It's so interesting how we're all different. For me, this is by far my favorite format. I wish all Chinese videos had this style of translation!
Agree the vertical format is tricky, but she has been using this for a long time. Im about hsk 4, and i only need translations for individual hard words, mostly those outside the hsk lists.
Thank you for another video 🙏🙏🙏 so helpful as always
Thanks
