Do you get a static white noise while using the amplification setting? Which ones are best and which ones are worst in that regard? I have a different pair of Walker earbuds and it's fairly loud when I turn it all the way up. I use them for hunting and trap shooting mostly
@@mitchelschultzy6 so for me, the best are the Axil XCOR… the other two have their own strengths. There is a little white noise but I think that’s just part of the programming 🤷♂️
@@mitchelschultzy6 in my opinion… I was not a fan of THESE Walkers, I haven’t tried their other styles. And I use Walker outters so they’re a good company
When asking about how they work at the range, there’s a big difference between an open and a covered range. The one I go to is covered. My current earbuds are AXIL, but they are 5-7 years old. I contacted AXIL on their new ones as mine, when undercover, would give me a headache (from sound reflection off the overhead cover) after about 45 minutes. They told me that their new ones are NOT as good as what I have.
Are you still using the Axil? I have had to return 2 pairs now. They are great, until they start not working correctly. Both pairs that I got would not charge in the case properly and they would both not disconnect from my phone all the time when I put them in the charging case. I would have to go into my bluetooth and manually disconnect them. It's a shame too, I really liked them.
@@andys5562 I am still using them yes, I really like them. I’ve experienced what you’re referring to, next time that happens, try taking an alcohol wipe and wiping the earpiece and especially the leads off, same on the case. You may have to use a q-tip to get the leads on the earpieces. That worked for me. It’s a thought. Hope it works!!
Yes! I’m planning on doing another video now that I’ve used them a couple weeks. I tried a few different foam tips, and found I like the ones from Axil “Max Protect” (the site says they’re only for the Extreme 2.0 though).
One odd thing I found was after you reduce the hearing amplification if you receive a call on Bluetooth it reverts to max amplification again. So you have to reduce it again. IMHO the sound amplification could be toned down a bit
I recently picked up the Walker's Disruptors. Maybe I got a bad pair, but they were almost useless at the range. Having them set to Max Protection killed my ability to hear normal sounds while only BARELY protecting from gunshots. For reference, I have an older set of 3M TEP-100's that work great at that same range. I'll be reaching out to Walker's to see if mine are defective, but as they are now... I'd call them actually Dangerous in loud environments.
My top pick by far is Axil Xcore and I bought the Max Protection foams from Axil (their website says it’s only for the Extreme 2.0, but they fit the Xcore 🤷♂️),
Do these simply cut audio when the sound gets above a certain level or do they continue to give you situational awareness by lowering the volume of the loud sounds it lets through? I’m trying to find a good set of electronic ear buds for construction where nail guns and hammers require ear protection that triggers fast enough for gun shots, but also does well with sustained noise form hammer drills etc while also allowing me to communicate with those around me. For such a critical piece of PPE there is a surprising lack of detailed info on higher end products so reviews like this are very helpful.
These (and pretty much all hearing protection I am aware of) protect your hearing by, as you put it, “cutting audio”. When the noises get above a certain Db, they’ll basically turn off the “pass through” or “transparency”. IMO, the Axil XCOR are the best of these three options in hearing protect for things like nail guns and other instantly loud noises. I wear them at the gun range as my primary hearing protection daily as my primary… They return to “transparency” VERY quickly, but during the loud noise, basically can’t hear anything…
Hope that helps! And yes I agree, there are very little studies/reviews on things like this. Eventually, when I can afford them, there are some other higher-end ear-pros I want to at least try. (Also, for the XCOR, I am using the foam tips that Axil had on their website advertised for the Extreme 2.0. Called the something Max, I think. Very good!)
@@brandonyoungaustin all of them had great quality for being hearing protection. I still have the Xcor and use them as my everyday earbuds. My personal second choice would be the IsoTunes, because of the size (as a slight negative) compared to the Xcor, and the in-ear fit (positive) compared to the Walkers. My personal preference.
I don’t know much about meat saws. If I was going to try one for what I believe that kind of noise is, I would check out the ISOTUNES, either tbh, I did like them, just not for what I needed.

I am not aware of what the ratings are for what you have and use. That said, the Xcore with the Max Protect foams seem to do a fantastic job IMO.
Are one of the pairs the pros? Or both are the regular versions?

@@Gregd16 Right on, thanks for the reply.
Did the Axil XCOR do well at the range? Would that be the one you recommend for gun ranges?

Just picked up the iso calibers. Love the way I can hear everything going on around me but am still protected when I need it

There were too many setting options in the phone app for me.
I'm not sure what it is... But I keep reading bad reviews on the Walkers

What had the best audio quality for listening to music without sacrificing protection?

Hi, I work next to a meat saw all day super loud. I'm looking for something, but I don't know too much about all this ear buds. Thanks

What type of connector do each need for recharging the case? (USB-c, USB-micro..?)
Each of them use the USB-C for the charge case.
And sorry for the late reply
Good to know, I couldnt find any info on the axil. I didnt want to get it if it had an odd type of cable. just didnt want another cable lug around.
The Axil in my opinion is a great choice!
@@eric92114just curious, did you get the Axil? If so what’s your opinion so far?
The Axil work well for indoor ranges?
For indoor range, they work well, but for me (since I am at different ranges 4 days a week) I’d still wear outer ears on top of them
I read on another site that the foam ear inserts are not the highest rating for DB loss, and that you should use the other inserts included.
Which of these are best for just hearing people talk to you in a noisy place?
I’m not sure about that, I don’t know of any that specifically do that.
So which one would you choose out of the 3 for range?
By far, the XCOR, still using them
