I have to admit my first fitting session was a struggle, during which I inadvertently turned them on. Got them in and thought, "These things suck, I can hear everything," before realizing that I was supposed to hear everything at that point. So glad nobody was video recording that. So far, so good, and it's awfully nice to get a decent cheek weld without forcing a muff away from the ear (and finding out the hard way). I really wouldn't use them for music, they're for shooting.

To put them in deeply enough, you should first squeeze and compress the foam before putting them in, and then pull up on your ear with the second hand to straighten the ear channel when inserting them. Then you don’t need to press very hard ;) Also, when looping the wire around your ear, hold and press the plug with your second hand. They work great overall!

    • @mattburkett9419
      @mattburkett9419 Год назад +1

Compressing them does nothing. They expand so fast there is is no chance to get them in your ear before they expand.
There are 3 major flaws, first is the rapid expansion, second is that the foam is too short, and third is that the tube inside the tip that gives it structure is too soft and doesn’t allow you to force the tip into your ear canal. A smaller flaw is that the tips are greasy and slick.
These are not like comply foam tips, not are they like 3M or any other brand of ear plugs. I just received mine, so I’m going to give them a few days, but it’s very likely I’ll be returning them. I use earpro every day, and have tried dozens of different kinds, these are by far the most finicky and most likely to fail mid use.

I watched their video on them. They suggest that you rotate them 90 degrees to the front before putting them in. I find that works very well. I rotate them to the front, shove them in, and rotate them back to the position they should be in to loop over the ear and it kind of screws them into the ear.

Yes - the bluetooth is one function (audio) and the active noise cancelling is a function that's measured by battery life. A NOTE on "noise cancelling" - if the dB's aren't reduced passively it's not hearing protection. Just because noise is being actively cancelled does *NOT* equal hearing protection. dB attenuation is the key figure.

@@Michael.likes.horsepower So quick update. I finally got a decent fit into my ears and I didn't want to give up on them and took them to an outdoor range for a steel match yesterday. Nothing louder than a 9mm, and I gotta be honest, they worked pretty well. I didn't get a lot of static or white noise, conversations were clear, and they didn't slip or pop out like a lot of other in the earplugs. I will say that after about an hour and a half they did start to hurt my ears, not inside the canal, but where the rest of the device sat in my ears. Now, I don't know if that's because of all the wrestling I had to do to get them to fit or because of the device itself.
So to sum up my experience, they are very difficult to get into your ears properly but if you're able to do that, they work well outside.
If anyone at Axil reads these, my recommendation would be to come up with inserts that are more easily fitted into the ear, something other than squishable foam. Other than that I think I'll keep them.

Do the Aixl GS electronic hearing protectors come with size small foam plug part? I understood you to say not to use the silicone ones. I’ve used Walker Game electronic ear muffs, and Pro Ears, both electronic ear muffs and on the range when sighting in my rifle I use ear plugs plus muffs. My Dad is a retired ENT physician and was in the Army in his younger days too, so I identify with you.
LOL. So..in the day, I was the kid who went to school dances with ear plugs in.
I don’t loose my cheek weld or knock the muffs loose when shooting my rifle and enjoy hearing the birds and deer crunching leaves when hunting with the over the ear muffs on…BUT the ear muffs that I wear over a ball cap begin to hurt my temple areas on my skull after an hr or two in the stand. The Aixl look like that will eliminate that problem plus the chord might keep me from loosing one out of the treestand. Thanks, MW

I can't use earmuffs when shooting a long rifle or shotgun. I've had a pair of rechargeable in the ear electronic plugs for 7-8 years (paid $450), and one is not charging now. COULD these potentially work for BOTH the gun range AND as ear pro while riding a motorcycle? I'm wondering if these could replace both my other ear pros for both applications. Because I have been looking for a REALLY good set of ear pro for while I'm riding my motorcycle as well. Because if I could use these at the shooting range and then just be left in and be worn under my helmet, block out the extreme wind noise over 85 decibels, allow me to still hear everything AND allow me to listen to music and answer the phone while on my motorcycle that would be AMAZING. I'm just unsure as to how much they stick out of your ear or if they would get caught when putting my motorcycle helmet on and off or if they would stay in place. How tightly do they stay in your ear canal? If ANYONE has ANY experiences that could help me make a decision that would be great.

Hmmm.... This is a good question. I JUST got my pair, lemme figure em out and go on a ride and I'll get back to you! (I will say I bought these for ear pro for working in an automotive shop, and not exactly for shooting, so it'll probably be a bit before I'm able to give a review for that considering I live in the desert, we go shooting in the mesa, and it's been 105° regularly for about 2 weeks. A bike ride I can do though!)

@@lf3skillz921 I work in automotive and use them in the shop, I use the "medium" .... Insulated? buds and they work pretty great!
I loved them on the bike, there is a bit of a balance you have to figure out between your music and what you want to hear on the road.
My only complaint is they kinda hurt to wear for long periods of time (as a tiny woman my ears are also tiny) and pulling my helmet off kinda hurts my ears as well. The controls are easy to reach (even with the helmet on) and feel even with gloves on so it's easy to skip a song or turn the Bluetooth down and the surround up (make sure you already have it turned on, cause that switch is a little hard to feel). I will also say my bike is also not very loud (I really need to put new exhausts on it 🤦🏻‍♀️).
The battery life is pretty damn good with both the surround and the Bluetooth going, but as I haven't ridden since about October? I've predominantly been using them in the shop. I haven't used them to go shooting yet, and probably won't until spring since my family and I go in the mesa (outside in the boonies) lol

The foam won't compress and you have to memorize the setting prior to putting them on. Too many buttons/switches. If you are wearing a coat or are putting your AR over you shoulder with a sling they will catch the wire and pull them out of your ears. The wire that is connected to the plugs needs to be shaped each time you put them on. These were the biggest pains I have ever experienced while hunting. By the time you grab the wire and fit it around your ear, what little compression the foam had is not there. If you want to be frustrated get these.

Is the ambient audio in stereo with these things? I've got some cheap Walker's muffs and the ambient audio playback is in mono and it is very frustrating. Can't tell where any sounds are coming from.

Can someone answer me this. I have tried to find a review that states weather the hearing enhancement allows the user to determine the direction noises are coming from. My primary use will the stalking with a bow. Shooting with them will be a sometimes. Anyone have experience with this specific function of the headset. Thanks!!!

I must admit I have these, but I wonder if anyone who likes these actually have ears. I have tried every eartip they have and I have not been able to get them to fit my ears well at all. I don't know how they would do at the range because I am fearful of taking them to the range because of the poor fit.
