Yeah not gonna lie, I definitely don't get it. Like I know it's an artist choice but like...why? What purpose does it serve? What were they going for? It's just confusing and weird.
@@shelbyb9965 I feel like it looks cool, especially with Jasmine and Pocahontas

I love how Jasmine has the most revealing outfit of all the princesses, but her historically accurate outfit is the completely opposite.
Not accurate,
She wore revealing clothes *inside* her Chambers and when she was a slave of jafar's, when she was out in the market she did wear starkingly similar clothes.
Chi SD that was because she didn’t want to be recognised
And I mean, look at her marriage outfit,
Would you consider THAT as revealing?
SEAGULLSER the new movie is completely inaccurate they dressed her in Indian clothes
@@yakin3146 Jasmine's mother was south Asian (from the Indian subcontinent)
Her parents were married as part of a royal symbol for peace and good relations, that's where her dress comes from
Edit: that's also the reason she has a Bengal Tiger as a pet
welcome back when buzzfeed had actual original content
I don’t know why people have such hate for buzzfeed
Kadence Charles because they find every little thing oppressive.
I miss 2015 :(
Original yet quite inaccurate ...
@@lampron-fournierzoelie3628 meh they were good, but not good enough, jasmine especially bothered me, it was supposed to take place during the islamic golden age
“Did they all live happily ever after?” No, Pocahontas’ life was nothing but tragic after the colonization
not to mention she was pretty much naked
And died from a virus the English gave her, in a country she didn't call home.
Or as my people believe since I'm a decent of Pocahontas she was poison on our way back to America from England

Loved it!!! Mulan, Megara, Ariel and Merida pleeeease! :)
Lully de Verdade Lullyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Lully de Verdade Ariel? How do you show the historically accurate version of a mythical creature?
Luther Barrett Well, obviously it had to take place at some point in time, and Eric must have lived *somewhere.* Ariel wears human clothes post-transformation.
*****
Denmark, 1837. I'm just saying that it would be hard to show what she would have actually looked like because mermaids aren't real.
Lully de Verdade Lully, você por aqui? hahaha
This is such an artistic and well done video. The visuals are wonderful, the women look so beautiful in these accurate portrayals and it's so culturally aware and lovely.
MADE BY KING EUGENE 😂
+Mae-Bee-Skei you. idiot. from. belle
Agreed.
I think it's great that Eugene put this together, and I acknowledge his artistic abilities, but he's only one part of this. I think we should also recognize the female models and all the rest who contributed to this video. Can't forget about them just because they're not as well known and popular.
yeah
I remember finding this when I was about 12 years old and being enamored with it; my love of history never goes away.
literally same
OMG SAME this and those American girl stories , I remember watching this vid over n over again

I'd so watch historically accurate Disney remakes. Nice video.
Me too. I think it would be cool 😃
the 2014 French version of beauty and the beast if pretty good- very different to the Disney version but if you don't mind subtitles its a good watch www.primewire.ag/watch-2754318-Beauty-and-the-Beast-online-free
The 2009 Chinese version of Mulan was good www.imdb.com/title/tt1308138/?ref_=nv_sr_5 It's historically accurate and more closely based on the legend than the Disney version.
The 2005 "The New World" presents the story of Pocahontas accurately, although Pocahontas.
XxLostxFishXx Ooooh! Thanks for that! Do you know if its on Hulu?
I never understood why Disney choose to dress Jasmine up like a belly dancer even though she was a princess. Even the Arab Christian women back then did not dress like this. And just to clarify not everyone is the middle east is Muslim. Also not every Muslim women wear hijab. Alot aren't even forced to wear it. I'm a Christian Arab and I know this.
Yeah, and even back then since they lived in the desert where it's really hot and the sun is harmful wouldnt they wear it to also protect them from the sun back then?
Arabian Peninsula year 300s was not Muslim. Islam didn't exist until the 500s. So why would she dress to a religion that doesn't exist yet.
Christian Arab let me guess are you from Lebanon?
Jalen Livingston she's not even saying that. she's saying arab royalty did not dress like belly dancers back then. that's it. but they did in fact cover themselves to protect from the sun and the fact that they were a modest society meant their clothing were loose that's all. it really had nothing to do with islam. she's just saying not all arabs are muslim and not all muslims cover their hair. that's it.
hayakatsu Disney dressed her up like that because he wants to buy a doll of a princess all covered up and stuff.
honestly one of my favourite buzzfeed videos

Deathbound Child It's from all that sleeping, she needs to stretch out.
AND PLEASE MAKE A NEXT ONE WITH ARIEL, CINDERELLA, SNOW WHITE, MULAN, MERIDA, ANNA AND ELSA
Snow white was the first one in this video...
Anna and Elsa would make absolutely no sense for a video like this.
Arendale isnt a real place, so there wouldnt be any "historically accurate" video with anna and elsa since they live in a fictional world that never existed. Also anna and elsa have modern american accents and live in a castle/kingdom (there arent any castles or palaces or any kingdom here in america as we live in democracy) so there isnt any real time or place OR HISTORY to them
also ariel was a mermaid who came from the ocean, mermaids are just legend and the cartoon depicts what a mermaid looked like so technically it already is "historically accurate". Plus mermaids didnt have and EXACT style then so that couldnt happen.
Ariel is a mermaid..
JadeTheBrave You are painfully stupid. The Beauty and the Beast takes place in France, but all of the actors have an American English accent. That doesn't mean that it takes place in the United States. Also, Arendale is supposed to be a city-state in Norway. Your logic is flawed. You are stupid.
Why is Tiana wearing a 1950s hat in the 1920s?
And I oop-

+christopher johnson I'm crying at this

The girls that dressed as belle and jasmine are soooo hot omg i'm too lesbian to function lmao
+S.A Impavido true
If you want historically accurate, Pocahontas was around 10 when she met John Smith.
True, but I don't think buzz feed could portray an accurate Powhatan princess, without being charged with child pornography, since she's 10 years old
My history teacher told me that Pocahontas never even met John Smith... I guess she was wrong.
Lymarie Guzmán Pérez Pocahontas didn't marry John Smith. She married a different English man, and that was she was around 16 at that time.
Mai Taniyama John Smith was an old man when he came to America
I never said anything about marriage...
The Sleeping Beauty story was originally seen in Italy, popularized by Charles Perrault (a Frenchman), and then transcribed by the brothers Grimm (Germans). I’m not seeing where you got England.
Easy while the sleeping beauty story was written in Italy the Disney version was set in England
There is no overt mention or even implied supposition that Sleeping Beauty is set in England. Disney himself stated that it was based on Charles Perrault’s telling of the story. Perhaps you could argue that Prince Philip is English but not likely as Philip was a more common name among French and Spanish royalty.
Aurora is confusing, because the aurora Kingdom is fantasy. Is english, french, germany or italian.
In the movie the scenery, clothes, architecture etc seem to be medieval England or France

That was so awesome
I wish they'd make another one with Mulan, Rapunzel, Cinderella, Ariel, Alice and Elsa
Elsa didn't even come from a real place, neither did Ariel. And Alice and Elsa aren't even princesses
I kinda wish they would've had Megara. She was always my favorite! I don't think she was technically a princess, but she was still awesome.
+Madelyn Isabella Anna & Elsa come from 1840's Norway. Ariel most likely comes from somewhere in the Caribbean maybe closer to Greece. And although Alice isn't officially a princess she is often included in the set-up, but I guess Merida could also take her spot.
But the only princesses who really have a place stated are Pocahontas and Mulan. The others life in fictional places (named or not named) that take place somewhere in a specific area.
+Colin-kun :3 So wherever Elsa and Anna came from, which is in the movie a place called arrendale (something like that), is a real place?! And I'm pretty sure mermaids don't exist.
+Madelyn Isabella None of the Disney princesses come from a real place. The only two who have been closely pinpointed are Pocahontas, Tiana and Mulan. Jasmine lives in Agrabah which also isn't a real place. Note, Arendelle is based on Arendel a place in Norway.
And ofc mermaids don't exist but her time period does. Because there are scenes where Ariel is human.Snow and Aurora's country is actually pretty unknown and they kinda just took assumptions in this video.
God the cinematography is so gorgeous but the outfits are so incorrect
Yeah, the video is very well made and aesthetically pleasing, but there are many inaccuracies
True
They are just showing people how they might've looked; just a general idea.
@@Dragontamer135 When you say historically accurate you have to mean it. And a general idea in historically accuracy is just eh- it honestly depends what you mean by general idea. Also, they have to pinpoint the time, place, and status the princesses have. And I think what the commenter means by the comment is that it is such an inaccuracy that I'm pretty sure they wouldn't wear it at that time. Hope this explains it :)
I'd like some proof
I can't believe I haven't found a single comment on this video about the model portraying Pocahontas and that amazing jump she did. I mean she had things attached to her breasts and she JUMPED. That's hardcore man.
It was most likely glued on

ouch....that looks so painful..😬
Who else found the music equally great?!
Riya Patil mhm I love this song. I believe it’s called Bloom
Yeah I remeber this video 4 years ago, it's what got me into ODESZA (the band) hahah
Yes that was 👏 awesome!
It's so good because it's ODESZA
Equally? The music was wonderful! But the outfits, we're VERY historically inaccurate
Did they all live happily ever after? Hell no. Pocahontas died of disease in her 20s, Belle probably got guillotined, Snow White had to contend with the Thirty Years War later in life, and Aurora probably died of the Black Death.
Also Tiana was probably hanged
HALEEMY- INTENSIFIES Why?

Jasmine was probably the best off.
I think Pocahontas was like the most badass person ever
I have to admit that every model in this video did an amazing job with smooth satisfying movements and that’s why I always come back to this video 👏👏👏

why do you think that the princesses where so happy?
😂😂😂😂
at first. didn't get get it then I researched the video and laughed so hard I was crying
Damn I was waiting for Cinderella
@Osman Yousif Mermaid doesn't exist?
Cinderella has many versions of the story around many countries..
So not clear of what Era the movie was!
Swag level Over hundred he said her wedding/ land dress
If you’re basing it off the Disney movie, then it takes place in 19th century France. So I would expect them to show the crinoline. And how strict Victorian etiquette was.
Was waiting for Mulan :(
This was so awesome! I kinda wished there was a Mulan one in here though, but I'm already very happy with this video so...
Mulan isn't actually a princess, and she didn't marry into royalty. that's most likly why she isn't in the video.
+silvergirlXO Still, I wish she was in here. I know she isn't a princess, but I still want to see her.
K_Pop_Drama good point. it WOULD have been cool to see her in here.
+silvergirlXO in old china isn't marriage to a general of the royal military a form of royalty?

I agree, this was done so well
the song is amazing
Wheres Mulan?

@@mypantsarefilledwithbeans6508 well Mulan is actually based on a real person named 花木兰 which translates to flower wood blue or flower Mulan in a sense. And the events weren't that accurate.

Does it piss anyone else off that they said sleeping beauty was set in England when in fact it was set in France?
MsUnicornbitch Idk..... because with names like Stephen and Phillip, the story seem English/ or scottish.
The only name mentioned in the original version was Aurora's, other characters names were added into later versions, however did you know that Stephen and Phillip are both Greek names originally
yeah I believe that's what they based this accuracy on : the later versions.
Yeah but the country it's set in didn't change? That's like saying Beauty and the Beast is English or that Pocahontas is Japanese or that Rapunzel is set in Switzerland, all the later versions are still set in France they just add in names and change around a few of the characters
Alonna Gilmore What about main bad Gaston? English gentleman too? Besides, Philip nad Stephen are universal names, not English ones only.
a while ago I was OBSESSED with this video, I would watch it over and over and now that I know Eugene was a part of it i love it like 200000x more

Wow Pocahontas seriously looks like a warrior goddess!!! 👌👌👌
I do like her outfit the best out of the bunch. They should have given her a hickory-wood or locust-wood Cherokee-style or Delaware-style longbow and a quiver woven from dried honeysuckle for her bamboo arrows, tipped with bone and fletched with turkey feathers. Her hair was the only thing that they needed to redo. Women of the tribes that lived in her area wore trimmed bangs in the front and their hair in a bun in the back which was held in place with a little fan made of bamboo or a comb made of a clam-shell. You can look up old paintings and drawings of the Powhatan tribe as well as the Creek and Seminole people from that period. It's really neat. :)

The Powhatan were never a tribe but a confederacy made up of 30 plus tribes. I am Pamunkey which is what her father or chief Powhatan was. Most of the tribes assimilated with other Virginia and North Carolina tribes. There are only 8 tribes remaining that were part of the Powhatan Confederacy and they are the Pamunkey, Mattaponi, Upper Mattaponi, Chickahominy, Eastern Chickahominy, Rappahannock, Nansemond, and Patawomack.

Anyone sort of annoyed that they erased Tiana's entire ethnicity, taking away her dark skin and frizzy hair?
Pochahantas too
Same with Pocahontas smh
I'm Lydia A lot of Native women just look that way, it'd be pretty hard to find a full-blood in short notice for a video.
I noticed that too. Not cool
Kelsey Reilly Tiana historically is Creole.
Still one of BuzzFeed's best videos. Wish they produced more high quality history-related videos like this.
Kind of wish Disney did do it Historically accurate. Except maybe Pocahontas, considering she was like 11.
*****
I wouldn't have, I would have liked it 10x better. I wasn't really into the glitzy pretty disney characters as much as I was into real history. I mean, I liked them, just would've liked them more if they were true to history.
LeDubKitty I wonder if children were a different case? I mean I figure they didn't care either way what they were showing child or adult because things weren't like they are these days. But I just think of like, just with the weather and things like that. It could get chilly maybe, and you wouldn't want your child to get cold... lol, I just think of things like that.
LeDubKitty i think the eleven year old looked older than the ones now because life expectancy was short. So she probably looked between 14-16.
I think tianas was accurate bc she wears something like that in the scene where she sings almost there

I get not including Mulan in the video because she wasn't royalty but what about Ariel!!?
Or Cinderella!?
ariel? mermaids arent real... and if they are, they probably look nothin like a human fish hybird..
PjSparkle08 Well, after she turned human.
Ariel's dresses are vaguely 1830's-1840's-ish and Cinderella's guessing by what the other characters are wearing, is 1860's-1870's-ish. Hard to tell without actual dates, because nothing is really concrete in the movies.
Could be wrong, but I'm thinking mermaid tails haven't changed a lot since the time of The Little Mermaid...
The music and the cinematography was just fab!

To be honest the cinematography was amazing in this video also the models were beautiful !!!!!!!
blue jay I was thinking the same thing ! No one in the comments appreciates this but you damn.
AURORA IS FRENCH.
TIANA HAS A DARKER SKIN TONE.
SNOW WHITE'S HEAD GARMENT WASNT IN THE 1500'S.
POCAHONTAS WAS A CHILD IN THAT TIME.
Actually, the very first version of Sleeping Beauty was written by an Italian author in 1634 in a book called Tale of Tales by Giambattista Basile and Tiana was still represented by a black woman in this video so that is good enough for me
Aurora, aka Briar Rose, is from England. How can you know? Because of the other name she goes by, Brair Rose. At the time the briar rose flower was widespread in England and throughout Scotland. You can also tell by the movie the scenery, clothes, architecture etc which really do seem to be medieval England.
Also, can't you just enjoy the video.
Destro Bryant tiana looks white or very lightskin nothing against lightskins but tiana was darker and people would clearly appreciate if they used a darker woman since that’s the only movie that we get recognition in as a Disney princess
@Anne Boelyn Yeah, they can't show a topless child, but they could also have chosen from at least other 8 different disney princess to represent! But no! They picked one they couldn't do correctly (rightfully so? That's an other discussion, but you simply cannot tell me they could not have chosen others.)
Jasmine is inaccurate too. Pre-Islamic Arabia was not at all modest. Islam brought modesty around the 500s.
Why couldn't they have made them historically accurate? They're stunning!
For real
Madison stevens A topless Pocahontas? People are freaking out because the waist sizes of the princesses are "inappropriate"!
leeann2728 ok, I see your point there, but other than that.
Madison stevens In a way Tiana was historically accurate for the time period she was in. Yes the green leaf dress and the costume that Charlotte gave her are a bit more late 20th century in looks for the time period but everything else she wore is reflective of the period. Not every last person dressed in flapper dress back then, especially women who had to work or could not afford the flapper look. Women in Tiana's situation before she married Naveen were lucky to own more than just a cotton house dress and low heeled shoes. Her clothes for the two jobs she worked were pretty accurate if you ask me especially what she wears to work at Buford's Diner. But she does wear a more Swinger styled dress when Facilier tries to tempt her. Out of all of the princess movies so far I'd say Princess and the Frog was the most historically accurate one of the lot.
Chibihalo2 I thought she was pretty accurate too.
wow
for the girl doing pocahontas I like the fact that her skin has pours
it actually goes with where she lives and the time and how it's like the Indians didn't have much like cenderela and how they couldn't get rid of the pours
Pores*
Jamie Swint well I can't spell
Actually, because Native Americans ate good food and not sugar in form of candy, fast food and soft drinks most of them didn't really have pores. Some hadof course but a lot less than people today. If you go back a few hundred years there were very few people who had pores or acne compared to today
Really
Also I am kinda indian
And I can't even spell Indian right
I have to have autocorrect on
those are acne scars
To be honest, these outfits are prettier than the ones the princesses wore :)
Yes they definitely are
I am the only one who wants new movies with accurate clothes? ❤
The problem is that the video wasnt acurreted? Sorry for my english. The clothed wasnt correct.
Not at all! I love accurate clothes in movies, but Disney (like a lot of other moviemakers) thinks people want only modern fantasy versions.
Yeah but the problem is with Pocahontas it would be rated pg 13 for brief nudity or rated r
The jasmine one isnt accurate.
funny how the disney princess who wore the least clothes (jasmine) actually wore the most in real life😅 nice disney 😂
yeeeeaaah they done fucked up there XD
+EyeOfTheLauren XD
Well, Belle's dress is big af tho.
I personnaly think that Jasmine even look better that way
I always thought that Jasmine's real look would resemble that of the Princess from Azur and Asmar. If you haven't seen that film, I recommend you go watch it.
to be honest this is my favorite buzzfeed video idk why though 😂
+Janine Guiam mine too.

I watched this video a million times. I can never get tired of it. Can we please have a part 2 AND a historically accurate video about Disney princes?
The cinematography is beautiful in this video, however considering that title is "Historically Accurate Disney Princesses" I would like to point out a few things:
1: While overall Snow White's costume isn't glaringly inaccurate, you can tell that she's not wearing any sort of skirt support, which she definitely should be for 1500s dress, more specifically a farthingale, even something simple underneath the skirt would've given it a better silhouette, which is one of the easiest ways to match a dress to it's time-period.
2: I'll admit I don't know much about fashion in the arabian peninsula, so I'll leave the historical accuracy of that up to someone who knows more than me.
3: The headpiece on Tiana's looks a bit more 1950s than 20s, and the dress' fabric looks see-through, you can tell she's not wearing a dress slip, which women would usually wear in the 20s.
4: For one thing, Sleeping Beauty takes place in Germany, not England, however at least the time period is fairly accurate, with most sources stating sleeping beauty takes place more broadly in the Medieval Era. The dress is a little bit over-layered, as dresses in this time period were usually quite simple, with one or two visible layers. That hot pink colour would most likely not exist in the 1300s, as that is 500 years before the invention of Analine dyes in the 1850s, so it would more likely be either a very dark plum colour, or a baby pink-ish colour.
5: The hair is personally the biggest error with Belle, as women didn't wear wigs to make their hair so large, instead using a sort of cushion, and then arranging the hair around it. The reason their hair is so pale in pictures is because they powdered their hair with white powder. Another note is that the dress should be a bit wider at the hips, and less so in the front and back, this was historically achieved with a Panniers.
I'm not trying to be rude, or overly critical, but considering the title is "Historically Accurate Disney Princesses", I think they should've taken a bit more care and consideration when designing the costumes, and in certain cases, the hair and makeup. I did gloss over Pocahontas, for the same reason I didn't make any statements on Jasmine's, and that is because I simply don't know enough about what Indigenous American's wore during the 1600's.
Jasmine's era is... debatable. If we're gonna go by the architecture and population in the movies, there is no way Aladdin is set in pre-Islamic era. I think that Aladdin is more reminiscent of the Ottoman empire, and although the logic of the clothing still stands, she would have definitely worn something more extravagant yet concealing.
Pp
@@princessjuliana7309 yeah. I remember seeing a video of a fashion historian talking about Jasmine’s historical accuracy and I think I remember hearing that it was basically just a mix of things from different time periods put together. It was super fictionalised I guess you could say with some accuracies but not on the right timelines.
The native american looks seems accurate, most native peoples in USA and northern Mexico used to dress very similar, the colors and patterns of their "tattoos" would be different in every tribe, as well as their ornaments, in Pocahontas case, the hair could have been lose or braided, the garments could have been like the ones in the video or bone collars, conch collars, even some feather hanging from the hair or as earrings, the tattos could have been white, bright blue or red and black like in the video but in different patterns and designs (i ignore what colors were used by Powhatan people tho), but the general idea seems very accurate.
@Laurimar Baez Soldevila There is pretty much no chance it could’ve taken place in England, and while their primary inspiration was Charles Perrault the original version was German, regardless however of the location it is still historically inaccurate
I think Aurora was from France.
And also I require a second part of this
Nope, 100% English. Go to Wiki page on her, scroll to nationality.
Bumble Bees Aurora is from France. Since when is Wikipedia reliable?
Well...according to Wikipedia she's from France, indeed. I don't know what to believe D:
I'm TheGeloMonster Don't worry, she's actually from France.
hmmm, i'm pretty sure she's english
That second girl was doing the Lebron chalk toss
Damn dude
damn lmao XDD
Lmfao
I miss this buzzfeed, not the I tried manspreading for a week buzzfeed
That's because Eugene and all the other good content makers are gone.
Buzzfeed has all the money, but no more people...
Same
@@cassie1560 and Safiya... But yes, basically the only one putting any effort is Ryan
AthkielK what about shane
@@malory1444 he just goes along Ryan, he only reacts to what Ryan brings into the video
Props to the photography/film crew who produced this. It’s amazing!
Part 2
•Mulan
•Elsa
•Cinderella
•Ariel
•Esmeralda
& Merida
Adrian Ochoa Hate to be that guy but Elsa isn't a princess
Katie Latie Elsa is a queen xD
Elsa is a queen and there are no real sources contributing to her is the best way i could say it. The people in the video, most of them, already have story's. Im pretty sure Elsa was jsut completely made up.
Kylee Anderson Disney was inspired by the Ice Queen book and that's where Elsa originated from so she wasn't completely made up
i am kind of mad they did not do Mulan. Clad in iron armor dripping in the blood of her slain foes.
Mulan's appearance isn't far from what it should be historically.
she was not an actual princess . just a nobleman's daughter.
Moy O She wasn't a princess, but she would have been a good one.
TO EVERYONE WHO COMPLAINS ABOUT POCAHONTAS LOOKING OLDER THAN SHE WAS HISTORICALLY AND TO TIANA NOT BEING DARK ENOUGH:
For Pocahontas they were giving a reference at the difference between her and the DISNEY version in terms of dress! Its not like they could actually show a topless prepubescent girl in this anyways because that is considered Child Exploitation.
As for Tiana-they had to find a model with a body type that was ideal for the 1920s (Which was tall, skinny and no butt or chest) and many black women are very curvy in their bust and butt, so the directors must have had a difficult time finding a model who fit those standards, so they had to go with the next dark skin color. PLEASE do not flip your lid!! You know how white people come from PALE to fair to LIGHTLY tanned? Yeah, same thing actually happens with black skin tones...for instance I knew a family of them where the dad was lighter skinned than his wife and some of their kids looked like him. SO PLEASE think rationally!!
Lizard Yin That is no excuse. Black women are not a monolith. We come in all shapes and sizes and colors. That whole, "Black women are curvaceous" is a STEREOTYPE. We are just as diverse as white people.
I for one, am very skinny and flat chested and dark skinned, so are many or my female cousins, friends, and aunts. That excuse for "not being able to find a model" is just pure laziness on Buzzfeed's part. They literally grabbed the first "black" model they found.
JayJay B WELL EXCUSE ME
Where I live the black women are EXTREMELY curvy -_-""" So excuse me for being around a lot of black women all who happen to be extremely curvy!! And don;t you know how hard it is to get a modelling gig?? And not all black people have to be extremely dark! I know a black girl at school who's tone is like the model in the video
Lizard Yin Stop. Just stop. Just because the ones YOU know are curvy, does not mean all of us are. Again, that is a stereotype. And did I not say we come in all shapes, sizes, and colors?
Again, black people are a very diverse race. We come in all colors and sizes, so again, the excuse that buzz feed could not find a model that was thin and also dark skinned is just mot a good excuse. it's lazy.
JayJay B Oh but did you not say that you al came in all colors? That woman is black! And there are a LOT of black girls in my area ajnd they're curvy...its not so much a stereotype really, beause that is all I ever see!
***** Yeah but everyone focuses on Tiana EVEN THOUGH THE ACTRESS IS BLACK. All that matters s that they got Tiana's model to be a black woman, she is not too light! AND YES I NOTICED THAT ABOUT POCOHONTAS. She does not look like any of the tribes found in Virginia at the time...
I always come back to this video once in a while every few years because it’s just *that* good
So, Belle was royalty right before the French revolution?!
gg Belle...
Jasmine Yu It’s off with Belle’s head while she lets them eat cakes!
Wouldn’t that mean she got beheaded later on 😢
I hope the next part they have Mulan :)
Right? Same here. Everyone always leaves out Mulan >:( it's really annoying.
Mulan is one of the best disney princess she's SOO under appreciated
Haydencoule
I KNOW. She's my favorite... Everyone always pushes her aside :/ Super sad.
BE A MAN!!!!!
although she's not a princess, she's a warrior :) but i still think she definitely should be included in the next one, she is my favourite anyway
This was awesome! Great choice of music and was beautifully executed!
I'm also in love with Pocahontas & Jasmine.
velociraptor4you Spectre2300
Very intersting! I kinda like Jasmine and Snow White myself
Tiana, Aurora, and Pocahontas have my vote! Very nice, Dany. :)
the model for snow white has such beautiful eyes *_*
Tiana looked stunning!!
Ikr!:D They probably DIDNT live "happily ever after" though :|
yah...
Anoushka IYER Nope. They'd all be long dead by now.
Agreed :)
I agree. She looked amazing, love her dress too.
I seriously dig the Jasmine outfit
Tiko Loshe Ur upside down
I know she is so beautiful its breath taking
Toni McDaniel Totally agree, and she definately lived happy ever after!
Tiko Loshe saame
Sleeping Beauty is french !!! Charles Perraut wrote it . Mayby they are trying to show that england wrote some fairytales , but you can't lie :/
I think Tiana was based on a german fairytale
+Sui Des really? on which?
AgentSteffi "der Froschkönig" the frog king/prince :D
Sui Des
yeah you are right. i forgot about that, because i dont think they did that well :D
True, but these looks are based on the movie-the movie for sleeping beauty was based in England, despite the French origin
dont say things are accurate WHEN THEY ARENT
xMusic Maddiex they look nothing like the historical period clothes they are meant to be representing.
xMusic Maddiex the clothes aren’t colored rich. With sleeping beauty the pinks weren’t that bright. And with belles outfit the hoop and bum roll was totally wrong.
Then again this is from 2015 or 2016 when now it's 2020 so really the research they have done may have not been as great as it would be now
@xMusic Maddiex plus Belle's wig isn't accurate at all. She probably would have pomaded and powered her hair and then put it up over a hair cushion, adding some curls at the back
@@shroomiewoomie7565 I'm sorry but that's not how it works
The evidence we have of what the fashion of that eras looked like is not at all recent. Not from this year neither from five years ago
Saying this video is old isn't an excuse for the lack of research
Just contract an historian or a fashion historian to do the research for you or to help you
BuzzFeed got the money for making that video and that editing and for contracting models and that stuff but they haven't got the money for researching
Pocahontas looks so badass!
Ikr
She is real but she died at 20 or 21 I forgot
+SophieTheNerdMSP She was kidnapped, forced into Christianity, paraded around as "the tamed savage," and renamed Rebecca.
+Grace Smith what?!
PrincessRere Capapas Yep.
This is so cool, although historically I don't think any of them had happy endings. Pocahontas certainly didn't.
They could probably all give happy endings though ;)
lol omg
Well, technically she lived happily ever after, in a sense. Until you know, the whole getting sick and dying thing.
They all died either in childbirth or in their thirties or forties from some stupid disease.
lemlia eh.. wasn't she captured by the english to be used as a hostage and while in captivity she was raped?
Buzzfeed, can you make a part 2 to this? Maybe with Mulan, Elsa, Merida, etc.?
YAS
Agreed
yes pls😁
Ikr!
_I don't think on the Elsa one.....XD. They can't have powers. Is Mulan a princess?_
Miss when Buzzfeed had original content. This also started my love for ODESZA
The girl who is Tiana is so insanely beautiful
Gray why is she so white tho I’m pretty sure tiana is dark skinned
Juliaaan Nyirashuri she's black tho. Back then there was a lot of mixing because of the French influence as I read someone else say in the comments which is why if this was accurate she would have had lighter skin. I think she looks just as good as she is now. I bet you people are hurting her feelings, trying to get her replaced.
@@kristitaylor123 it doesn't really matter, because there were still brown skin / darker girls back then too, and shes black in the disney movie.
I'm in love with the Snow white girl
@@mariannemba7322 I think she was just offering an explanation 🤷♀️ Also I agree, it must heart the feeling of the girl in the video. But I understand where you're coming from I just think she was trying to explain why she could also have been lighter. But true.
did you know Pocahontas was a real person and was actually 11 at the time the movie took place
John Smith was 41 when he met Pocahontas! But Pocahontas died at 21/22 due to infection when she went to England .
Just like the Virgin Mary was 13 when she had Jesus (sorry my religious vibes came out)
And she married John Rolfe, not Smith
Yes
Sandra Awesome yea small pox
Pocahontas rocked she did the best especially that jump was JUST INCREDIBLE plus she is my favorite disney princess and the others as well i like to :)
Natalie ONeill I know i wish I could do that
I agree it was incredible. Its just... if that hurt... what I wanna know is- how many takes of that jump did she do? Like if she biffs the landing or doesnt managed the full turn, she has to do it again.
Rochelle AlanSmithee oh yeah that is true
Rochelle AlanSmithee oh yeah that is true
cutey456 marshmellow she's technically not a princess
"Did they all live happily ever after?" Pocahontas certainly didn't... Her real story is so tragic the fact that they made a happy fictional story about her is disturbing.
The editing is actually one of the best i've seen in buzzfeed
Literally my favourite video on RUclips. Don't ask why.
Charlotte Sims why??
I already know why and I agree 😂😂💕
Pocahontas would also be a young child right?
Like around 12
+Sam Larsen Yup
+Sam Larsen Yep
+Sam Larsen I may be wrong, but Snow White too?
Creeper_Girl_15 Yeah, Snow White is 14 years old.
Wow! The aesthetic of this video is mesmerizing! My favorite is Aurora's intro. This entire video reminds me of Trueblack Tarot deck
I wish hey would've done Mulan
yeah but she wasn't a princess. I think the real Mulan was forced to marry the general or something like that
+Louise Lopez lmao she wasn't forced
+Ivy tran ok
Mulan is pretty much a legend...And it's pretty debatable that she's even real at all.
+Andi “CRIMSON” Rain well, she is mentioned in historical writing. ..so she _could_ be real. Pocahontas was real, so the sarcasm isn't too obvious.
Sleeping beauty would probably have died of the plague.
Yep
How?
She lived in the time period where it wiped out half of Europe's population.
+Caroline Bessette she is French, not English.
France is in Europe.....
Whoever played Snow White was gorgeous
ew really?
+Natalie Thomas Yea, I thought she was really pretty
haha rude
She kinda looks like someone I know :P
I thought Jasmine was gorgeous😫😫😫😍😍
In spite of the historical inaccuracies the production and cinematography is stunning
Hey look! A BuzzFeed video in which I actually learned something!
Hey look a hater that comes every buzz feed video!
***** I'm not actually a hater. I'm the logical type-- if I don't like a video, I won't watch it.
Jack Copley Well because my first comment implies that I watched the video...
who are you talking gtoo
Haven't had one of those for while.
what about ariel, repunzel, elsa, anna, megara, mulan
If it's trash then it's on my dash the human form thank u
Ariel is Danish (1800's)
Meg is Greek (some time in B.C.)
Anna and Elsa are Norwegian(not sure about time period)
Oh and Rapuzaul is German (mid 1500's)
+Alyssa Rivera in frozen it is confirm that repunzel is in it
robert campo what does that have to do with it I'm talking about the original novels not the movie
I don't see any comments saying how adorable the sleeping beauty actress strained her back. Like holy cow I want that skills 😂
Juliabstand
Ive seen dancers who can do that. (Im not one of them)
Am I the only one who thinks they made a mistake with Sleeping Beauty? It would've taken place in France, Germany, or Italy, (depending on which authors version you are reading.) not England. France (if the original author was Perrault),Germany (if the original authors were the Grimms), Italy (if the original author was Basile). According to a few sources anyways.
That background music was awesome!!!! And this video, like the editing and everything !! Awesome!
