You solve your VR problems (almost 95% of the time) by reinstalling No Man's Sky and SteamVR if possible, it always give me problems too but I can run it in VR with a not super 2060 and an Intel i5 12k I know is not optimized but we are asking too much to an indie game that gives you the VR version for free and that the base game is always like 50% off so it's ok ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’s just that these issues have plagued the VR version for years and are just getting worse overtime. I understand it will get worse as content/visuals increase, but to the point where 4090s with Ryzen 9 CPUs are still struggling with the game is unacceptable. I’m only saying this tho because I love the game and have an absurd amount of respect for Hello Games and I know they can do better. I bought their game 4 times because I really do believe in them.

@lanzer22 oh yeah I get what you mean. What I love about No Man’s Sky VR is that there aren’t many things that feel like menus as you are always physically doing actions. (Ex: you use your wrist to access inventory, pull on things to access them, etc.). It makes the game feel that much more immersive compared to some other VR titles and even the flatscreen version.

Dude, I think this is the only vr game that really benefits the 3060. I have a slightly better PC (i5 13400f, RTX 3060ti, 32GB ram) and it's just unplayable. Like literally 5 fps after the loading screen. I'm using a quest with the link cable. The only reason I could think of is that the 3060ti have 8GB of VRAM and the regular 3060 have 12GB.Bbecause when I checked on task manager the vram usage maxed out before it started glitching and stuttering in the loading screen.
I say that this is the only vr game because while I got a warning about low vram in Half Life Alyx, I could still play it on high smoothly. In No Man's Sky I can't event move my head in game while using the lowest standard settings with dlss set to performance. Literally No Man's PC Can Run It.
I absolutely agree, I am consistently hitting 10GB VRAM and I feel like that’s one of the only reasons I’m able to run it besides my CPU blowing up. They need to optimize this game overall as if we are able to play half life alyx and other games, then we should be able to play NMS. I thought my performance was going to be absolutely awful and that viewers would be upset because of the performance, but it was actually the opposite. People are SURPRISED that it’s running 💀💀 that’s absolutely an issue to have with a game.

Honestly I don't know who to blame anymore, the game developers for making an unoptimized game (I can't really blame hello games tho, they have done wonders to No Man's Sky), or Nvidia for making high end cards with such low VRAM. Based on your comments section, and other post on Reddit that have the same issue as me, they are using either 2070s, 2080s, 3060ti, 3070s, 3070, and the 4060s (all of them are 8GB which are disappointing especially for the 3070ti), also I have seen people complaining with 3080s, which is surprising for a high end card not being able to play a game from 2016 in vr, but is expected at the same time since there is a 3080 variant with only 10GB of VRAM. Even for me, I know that my GPU could do more, since the utilization never went above 70%, but it's being held back because of VRAM.
@EL4Mdesu another big issue with this games optimization besides VRAM is CPU utilization. The CPU is often only sitting at 30-50% CPU usage and only goes higher during a load screen. The fact it doesn’t use 50% of your CPU is absolutely another reason for stuttering and frameloss, and there is nothing we can do about. I’d blame the developers on this, not really Nvidia considering the flatscreen version runs at high or max settings on 8GB VRAM cards.
HAHA YES!! For some reason, when you teleport to an underwater base, the game won’t land your ship on nearby land or on the water’s surface. Instead it’ll just submerge your ship 😂
Ive had the game since its launch day, but somewhere between the Beyond and Exo Mech updates I can't play it in vr anymore. My 2080 Super cant handle it 😭I really hope they try and fix it cause it is super awesome in vr! I've been trying to find the floating islands as well lol. Learned from someone that if you want to build a base, do it on one with a waterfall or else your base de-spawns 😂

My issue isn’t my GPU tho, my 3060 is able to run it perfectly fine, it’s actually my CPU that is the problem as they haven’t optimized the game AT ALL. So maybe that’s the case for you as well. What settings are you using? Cuz im trying to run NMS in vr with a rtx 4070 super and ryzen 5 7600 (32gb of ram) and its runs really bad and if i put the settings above anything but standerd it immediately starts to jitter and loose frames.
I’m playing at Ultra textures, and a mix of standard and enhanced. I also have a lot of lost frames too, as you can see from the wiggling in the second half of the video (which is due to async warp), and the choppiness of the first half. The game in VR is just a pain in the ass to run no matter what system you are on, which really sucks tbh.
Im surprised you can run it on ultra textures, i tried that and the games fps just tanked. The only way the game is somewhat possible to Play in VR is on everything low settings for me.

Some people have said they had issues with Nvidia cards so I imagine we are in the same boat, it’s just an unoptimized mess. The only other issue is CPU, which this game does not properly use in VR.
Well… Epsteins island was in fact real sadly, but it was not in the update and Mr.Beast and Kris Tyson so do not have any connection to it as we know. So that stuff was a just joke I put too much effort into 💀

I have a 12GB card so that gives me enough VRAM for ultra. Anything less than 12GB should be at enhanced.
What is your graphics card? Neither my (Nvidia) 1080 or 3060 can run it at more than .5 FPS, but for some reason, my not-that-great AMD card can.
