The reviewer reminds me of the guy pushing up his glasses while shouting, "Go Gandalf! Go!!!". And then has to use his inhaler.
This guy's voice is irritating.
Batman Arkham City >>>>>Batman Arkham Knight
+Naruto Tutoriais Nope
i agree 100$
Nope, Knight > City.
THE JG SHOW yes he is right the story in city a lot better than knight and scarecrow is nowhere near great as villian compared to the joker the only thing knight has on city is the gameplay meanwhile the rest city is a lot better
Can we just get on with it........these games are awesome.....they complement each other and made by same studio....and most importantly in all these games you get to play as THE BATMAN
2 minutes in, feels like I've been listening for an hour.
Absolutely spectacular game. I really loved the way some of the villains were handled. Penguin was awesome, and the Mr Freeze boss battle is probably the best sequence I experienced in the story.
Well done Carolyn. Enjoyed this review!
I give this 10 masterpiece! Cant wait for arkham knight omg omg ! I love saying that!!!! 😊😄
What do you think of Arkham Knight ?
As much as I loved Skyrim I must 100% agree! Batman Arkham City is an amazing experience and there is a ton of replay value with the Riddler challenges, DLCs, more characters, side missions and more. Seriously, even to this day I play Arkham City like crazy and I have mastered the combat and stealth in the game and Arkham Asylum. The Arkham games make you feel like Batman and that is a feeling no other game can give you. You feel like the character you are controlling.
I'm sorry, the review might me good, but I can't listen to this voice any longer. I know it's unfair but damn it's so cocky, nerdy!
I just got into everything Batman recently. I am not a fan of superheroes but damn has Batman impressed me. The movies and games are superb! I am playing through Asylum just now but I picked up the collectors edition of Arkham City for ten pounds!
She kind of sound like my old 6th grade Science teacher, im so glad im out her class :)
This is not a review. This is what you can do in the game. You guys are missing the other half! You're supposed to talk about if that's good or bad and how well it works. This is an advertisement for the game
This things voice totally takes away from the basis for a good review.
I bought this game a few weeks ago, I've been hooked to it ever since!
How does Batman Arkham Knight get a lower score? the game had more to offer than this and is a lot better
Level up gamer HD - In all fariness arkham city was better, dont get me wrong I love arkham knight but arkham city was better
I understand its just that i give batman arkham knight more than a 7
I feel the same way. Knight is better than city. But I think the reason most people still prefer City over Knight is because of the pacing of City. They thought knight had some "annoying" sections and a few areas with a poor level design. I personally agree with you 100%. Knight was better for everything it offers, and makes u feel even more like Batman.
***** could u briefly explain why? I was just curious
Pedro Granja I find city better because I feel like the mastered the atmosphere of the city better, in arkham knight I felt like they just made it big. I also found the storyline to city better, the reason for that is because city was based around the arkham knight and upon reveal no one was suprised
One of the BEST reviews by gamespot in a long time. Keep up the good work :)
Im sorry but this reviewer should not be reviewing games with his or her voice... its so annoying and distracting.
And this game looks just like insane asylum, so not sure why i would get it
I hope to god the reviewer isnt a her with this voice...
+Malcolm Boyd nope it's a guy
+Partap Grewal wasn't always a guy though
not sure why you would get it ? its a huge improvement in many areas over "Arkham" Asylum. Larger and more detailed, better pacing. But to each their own, City got more critical praise then Asylum did, I felt Asylum was limited compared to City, most people feel that way.
I love the disrupter. Really helped at the end on the way to the movie theatre.
Is this a girl!?!?!
Good question.
I use the Angry Joe scale when reviewing things (5=totally average, 6=slightly above average, 4=slightly below average, etc.)
I'd give Arkham City a 10/10, it's as close to perfection as I feel it can get.
gamespot always bad at reviewing games!!!
Don't be rude bro, he didn't choose the way his voice sounds he only has to live with it and listen to it, every day. Forever...
holy crap that scared the crap out of me when I heard the guys voice
I know! The ending this didn't just re-write the series of games; it re-wrote Batman
9.0?!?!?!? IT DESERVES A 10!
I’ve been playing this on my modded PS3 recently and I gotta say, even compared to modern games, this game takes the cake for me as being one of the most fun I’ve had with video games in a long time... the gameplay, the story, and even the graphics (to this day) are amazing. This is a MUST PLAY... even if you play on an older system. I like playing on an older system just to be marveled at how impressive it would’ve been back in the day... similarly to playing GTA V on PS3 or Xbox 360. Playing it in a newer console would be cool too though, to see what kind of improvements have been made. I’m glad this is on WiiU too... that console needed some love and this game would suffice.
10/10 score, if I do say so myself! 💯
Are there going to be any new Batman sequels to this game? I sure hope so... but maybe not because I can see how it would be extremely hard for the creators to compete with themselves and their prior masterpiece. Such an amazing game. 💯
Thanks for putting a big-ass annotation up for the entirety of this review.
@AgentCell You cant, you have too finish the game (on any difficulty), then you get another campaign mode where everything's much harder, you start off with all your gadgets, and the blue counter meter will be removed
that is like asking who you love the most, your mother or father?
I love how Gamespot gave this game a 9, and nobody's bitching at them, yet IGN got bitched at for giving it a 9.5
Looks to be an improvement over Arkham Asylum in every way. I'm so excited to play it.
@vaizards
It's fine that people don't find her voice aurally pleasing; everyone has their own tastes. In life, we come across many things we do not like. Does everything warrant comment? No. Do the "loud" people commenting necessarily represent the majority? No. If you don't like something and you can change it, then don't complain about it, just take the action to change it. What do people think commenting with something like "I do not enjoy this voice" will achieve, anyway?
People who are saying "9 is a good score! dont bitch about it!" clearly have not played the game. Ive played it and it clearly deserves a 9.5 if not 10.
I agree. In fact just today (Like 3 hours ago) I decided to play the original game even though I already have Arkham City. The story is cooler in the Asylum and you feel more like batman because you have to think more, rather than using only your gadgets to solve puzzles.
I actually think AA was better. The story was darker and more mysterious and the Scarecrow parts were amazing. The gameplay was smoother and the set-up was cooler. AC was awesome, but I think AA was better.
I think he means the Clayface fight (he did just kinda come out of nowhere) not the final cutscene.
Yeah I misread that comment a few times. He's saying that the reviewer spoils the fact that the joker is dying not that he dies. Kind of a minor spoiler in the scheme of things though.
The thing that sucked about it, is that there is a large amount of people who don't play specifically RPG's, and this game, anyone can play.
This is why i come to gamepot. really good review!!
No offense, but what does this guy know about the "rhythm of combat"? The highest combo I saw in this video was x18.
Guy who wants to be a girl*
Going by how much praise this guy gave, I honestly thought the game would've gotten at least a 9.5.
not only is this game of the year material, we're talking it's on the list of one of the greatest games of all time.
I find it funny that people have no problem with gamespot giving this game a 9, but they're bitching at IGN for giving it a 9.5
the thing is no matter what batman is in movie or game he never dissapoints, mbatman is the bestest character made out of somones imagination
I honestly liked Arkham Asylum more. While Arkham City had a higher production value, Arkham Asylum just really captured the essence of Batman, and his seemingly eternal struggle with The Joker. I did really enjoy Arkham City as well, despite its sad ending. :(
I wish they would make a totally open world batman game similar to "Spider Man 2" That, in my opinion is the best superhero game to date.
@yukax20 Not really a spoiler. if you've played the first game and finished it, then you'd know already that Joker is dying. He's suffering from the effects of the Titan formula. It was even in the first couple of trailers that revealed Joker is dying. Hell, it was even the first thing Rocksteady said about the story of Arkham City.
@spidermangreatestfan no, it's a minor plot piece. the story is still just as suprising as it would have been as the joker being screwed up is mentioned early.
@jjhprobert Yep, no couter indicators, enemies see you more easily, you take more damage etc. and you keep all your upgrades
So, let's see: complaining about spoilers, despite the clear spoiler warning at the start of the video, then reposting the spoilers in the top comments so newcomers don't even get the benefit of a heads-up; bitching about the decimal in an arbitrary numerical rating; and trans-bashing. Did I cover all the bases there?
trust me you have tens of hours to crack at riddler's trophies, plus there are several side missions unlockable after the main story is done. I'd say main story is not even 50% of the game. it is a must buy if you haven't played it yet.
Hello everyone,
I would like to point out that you came here for a review. Please judge said review on its contents and not the physical qualities of its reviewer. If you had read the review instead, the sex, sexual orientation or any other trait of the reviewer would be irrelevant. It should also be irrelevant in this video; you came here for a review.
I like Carolyn because she writes solid reviews and because she hasn't fled at this appalling intolerance seen in comments sections.
@mariosmashfann Pick this. I think you'll find it funner. There's a lot of dlc going to be released for both games and they already have a ton of content and work put into them, but you can buy this right now, and it will probably be a bit better.
Carolyn Petit is the best reviewer on Gamespot. Great video.
Before the review i was crossing my fingers hoping that Carolyn Petit reviewed this =)
well in asylum, joker DID say that slapping her around was his hobby...
(Long time Batman fan, grew up with the animated series). Many of the upgrades in Arkham Asylum (2009) were useless to me and thus weren't employed tactically in combat from the "Multiple Frequency Detonator" to the "Auto Proximity Detonator" to the "Sonic Batarang" and the "Sonic Shock Batarang" even the "Remote Control Batarang" and the three "Special Combo" moves. None of it was worthy of use. I hope they changed that in this edition.
@redialator No, Chuck Norris IS Batman. Both more awesome than the word used to describe it.
I agree with khelli87. I consider myself a picky gamer (and a casualish gamer at that), and I found this game to be fantastic. I only purchase games that get great reviews and I must say that this is one of the top 10 games I have EVER played. Replay ability is definitely there. You can easily put in 70-100 hours of playing to get everything in the game.
Tuesday cannot come soon enough. Collector's Edition already paid off.
Great review Carolyn! Keep 'em coming :)
Yeah, I know, sucks to be corrected like that. Try not to let it happen again.
Just lovin playing this game. It deserves a GOTY award for real! I only wished that they would incorperate Batgirl (Cassandra Cain) in this series of Batman games.
THIS REVIEWER RUINS EVERYTHING!!!!! >:O
@thewilliamgregg The first one has some references in this game, but you only need to see the final boss fight and the cutscenes before it to understand it's significance in this game.
Great review as always from Carolyn! the best review of the game i've seen!
This is why I bought the game, because of the reviews, the comments that it was so much better than the first. It's evolved the game so much. To me, it was just a load of waffle when I finally played it. The first you have to stop the Joker from taking over Arkham Asylum, and captures Batman perfectly, because you have an objective. So you do all the Batman things you have ever wanted. This? You go here, you do that, and then you do something else. Didn't capture Batman to me at all!
I also think that the original was better. Don't get me wrong, City was an amazing game, but it's narrative wasn't as tight and adding the open world, whilst giving you much more to do felt like the designers trying to up the stakes by making the areas affected bigger. This is still one of my favorite games, but Arkham Asylum did something for me that this game didn't
I just a little bit dumbed down version of Arkham City, since AC fixed their mistakes. Also the main difference is that Asylum has no open world.
@yukax20 It's in the first trailer, and if you played the first game you can tell he got screwed up because of the thing with Bane. Don't worry mate it's a very minor plot piece mentioned very early in the game =) and same here
Seriously guys, why care what his voice sounds like? Maybe he has problems in life - maybe he's like that for a reason. Whatever the problem he doesn't need you guys giving him shit for it. It's the quality of the review, and I'm sure he can review games a lot better than a good amount of you guys who are trolling him.
every review ive read/watched all said this game is incredible, havent seen this kind of praise since GOW 3 came out, im guessing this game is going to win every award this year
Rates City 9
Rates Arkham Asylum 9
I didn't mean insane as in hard lol. It was pretty easy, but it was so entertaining and deep and well thought out that I think it deserved game of the year.
That's not even a spoiler. That's the plot
Great XMAS
1) Batman: Arkham City
2) Uncharted 2
3) Assassin's Creed: Revelations
God, it was weird seeing the Riddler in the game for the first time...
Imagine... next game Batman Arkham Island, you can control the batmobile and jets and everything also not only catwoman's story missions but also nightwing's, robin's, and batgirl's >_< omg!
Love Carolyn's reviews. All Gamespot reviewers are good and give me a good sense of the game.
I said it was better than IGN, when did I say that it can accumulate more views than IGN? Besides I bet most people watch their reviews just to see how negative they can be, I've seen a few reviews, I agree, they CAN get more views, but you have to agree that they can be harsh, one thing wrong and they decrease the score heavily.
@29lynk No game deserves a 10. 10 is without flaws. There isn't a game in existence that has no flaws, however minor.
Why is Roger from American Dad doing a review of this game?
LOL sorry.
I have to say, this is an amazing game. Truly fantastic. And the best part is, you KNOW it's made by people who LOVE Batman. You can tell, the detail and knowledge of Batman lore and characters....thanks Rocksteady and WB Games. Seriously.
Thanks for bringing me endless enjoyment as I play as the greatest superhero ever !!!!
Maybe changing her name to Bruce or something would be advisable. A Carolyn who sounds like that is just...disturbing
Would come back after the credits if there was a fix to losing your save file at 80% completion
This needs more advertisement, I didnt even know that this is coming this month.
@cheesealtar Actually he has right. He is sick because the titan in the end of arkham asylum.
but seeing as how many people have the same opinion.. wouldn't that show that the game was generally well received. I know its hard to get into a game just based on people's opinions but this won game of the year and is considered in high regard by many critics and fans alike. That alone warrants a try I think
wow calm down mr high and mighty, i didnt say anything about it being wrong.
I plan to, just not all at once. I want to decide which to get first. I cant afford all of them at once.
Plays video, hears menacing voice, turns off video.
@nextgenerationdemon
I know right. This game looks like a solid game of the year performance. I will have to pick this up.
I love the Disruptor!!!
@OldSchoolgamerNZ It's not called greedy its called business, you do what it takes to make profit. And i don't know the memory for the game but maybe it wouldnt fit onto one disc, you have to therefore download it.
Wow, Spoiler much? Well there goes the fun and excitement of getting a new gadget without knowing what it does. This is a GAME review, not a GADGET review.
i hope in the next batman they let you use the bat mobile at all his other vehicles also to be in Gotham would be nice
Gamespot is SO much better at reviewing games then IGN.
Both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City get a 100 out of 100! Both are amazing games!
@mahaddad13 I meant that the IGN review wasn't as thorough or actually critical of the game, I don't really care about the actual game score I already know it's an amazing game. :)
Its free for PS+ members from December 5th.
I finally have all 440 riddles. I took my time getting these riddles...nearly a year.
