You kept saying that if you do separate scratch and brown the top coat dries quickly because of scratch coat suction... not true, here in UK we user water-proofer in the scratch coat. This slows down suction and two coats separately even on large areas is easy. And our finish is flatter and smoother than yours! ;) keep spreadin kirk.
Howdy Adrain Dude, me fellow plasterer, this wall was a bit hollow so I improvised, plus there were no screeds or wood stops were placed on the top so I floated them in, if I would have added three more full hawks I could have used the darby just 4 to 6 times, but no'ooo I kicked the board off as I was too beat up knowing I'd have to fix upon our next visit. plus at the end of the day it was cold and I didn't want to over darby and separate the packs. When we came back I added the extra cement plaster to make it true and plumb, you must be a true plasterer to catch this, cheers, Live long and plaster Teaching how to repair your home
Evening Adr1an110, feeling real well, odd to believe the change so quickly, this is from december of last year, today after two week on a detox therapy feeling too good. Thanks for asking brother, have a great evening. kirk giordano Plastering tips.
Hi Kirk, I want to stucco columns that has black paper and chicken wire, can I use Riverside Portland cement without having scratch coat? In other words, add the cement without coming back and adding another coat before putting the LaHabra stucco.
Howdy Humor Dude, of course you can, however the coat will crack like an egg, but if you allow it to set two weeks it is possible that your color coat will cover these cracks. Live long and plaster Kirk’s how to plastering video’s
Evening chaddy due, Those BMI SIlos hold 28 tons, you get roughly 27 yards of base coat (scratch and brown) per ton, if my math is right about 750 yards. This house was 450 yards, so there was a lot of unused material in the silo,I received a 2,000 dollars credit for this fibered powered cement plaster. If your interested call my Pal Jerry Pozo he's the tech rep at 408 595-2031 or Rui Bronze at 408 5906135 (Vice president for taking orders) Best wishes and have a groovy evening! Good work as always Kirk but what is the price difference between a silo and buying it loose its going to a more expensive but does the Labour cost make up for it ?. Also do you have to get permission to put it on the pavement from home owners and local governments Cheers. Andy
Morning Andrew Pedley, excellent questions. I had to do the math myself on this one too. I figured about 450 yards on this home as it had an atrium also. Three different professional plastering material yards quoted me roughly 175 dollars a ton with fibers. I figured about 16 to 17 tons. Plus there is a delivery fee of about $500 bucks, what ever material you dont use is credited back. I had an idea that I would need about 500 bags and would have to mix each bag with a D20 or D30 so the costs for the delivered Silo was cheaper than the bags being delivered and Looou, mixing them, plus with the silo we had a perfect mix every time. This material really should not be mixed in a conventional mortar mixer. As far as permission from the city it was not necessary for this or my last Silo. Cheers, and have a Fantastic New Year! Kirk Giordano’s DIY plastering tips
are you trying to say Looou doesn't give you the perfect mix every time ? lol , I couldnt see a silo sitting on the pavement here in the U.K outside someone's home, sand and cement is just too cheap to buy .and plus you need a ticket for a normal skip never mind a silo lol . keep it up Kirk .
Andrew Pedley it was the same on this job, we had to have day passes as we were next to a Cal Berkeley the university. The meter folks were on us like white on rice. I would not have cared if they ticketed the silo, it wasn't in my name. Hope your enjoying that beautiful warm weather out there in sunny UK land. :) Kirk and Jason giordano's plastering info

Good Morning Dave Dude my Spring Chicken fellow plasterer, I was dicking around with this mess, as it was a bit hollow and I didn't have the energy at the end of this day to get another hawk full, that would have involved getting down from the scaffold , then climbing back up, I know you been there where that energy level just ain't there anymore after another fun day at the office, Besides us experts can move mud were we want it, Cheers Live long and plaster Mastering Plastering by Kirk and Jason Giordano

Hi Andy from Australia, it took us three days to render the 17 tons of premixed BMI. Keep in mind we did not have to mix the plaster, just push a button and a perfect plaster mix fell into the wheel barrels. most time I will spread and darby, but sometimes I have my sons spread as fast as they can while I tell them make it fat and ugly, I'll move the excess fat to where I need it with my Darby. I do enjoy this trade, as it keeps me fit and it's other physical action that gives me great pleasure. Best wishes in Australia and thanks for the bone. Kirk Giordano Plastering

Why not use the big pump machine with the long hose that loops around the whole house
