These amazing fossorial tarantulas from the Cameroons are so very underrated maybe because they are quit common and cheap, but don't be fooled they are a fantastic addition to any collection , today we pair one of our females and are shown some very unusual behaviour so join us and witness this awesome pairing .

I don't know if you're going to read this, but I want to tell you that some years ago I had arachnophobia and watching your channel not only made that irrational fear disappear, but also made me want to own a tarantula. Well, I started having tarantulas almost at the same time I started watching your videos and I never dared to comment here before. Now I have ten and I've learned to love them as if they were family. It is always a joy to watch your videos because of the knowledge and love you have for spiders. I've learned a lot about them and about how to take care of them. So, as it is never late, I'd like to thank you for your hard work, dedication and love for your spiders. This channel is just amazing. Big hug for you and, of course, for Camera Lady! Thanks, Dave!

When you start watching different channels you will find that the majority of people who became experts on spiders or/and are now keeping them had arachnaphobia.(My wild backyard, tarantulacollective-to name a few.).So welcome to the club ❤...Maybe Dave had arachnaphobia too when he was younger?.But thats for him to tell if that is so.😂

I've seen so many of your videos Dave and Camera Lady, and I don't think I remember seeing a female tarantula take charge like that. Is a fascinating behavior to say the least, coming from beings that are wired to work a certain way. I wonder if this behavior is more common with the these particular baboon species. Cheers Dave, brilliant video!

This is priceless ! Just gone to fill in the back entrance of my Hystocrates crassipes burrow (why she needed 2 entrances I’ll never know) & she shot out the front like a bullet. So I’m chasing a large female H. crassipes round the living room whilst you’re chasing baby E. murinus round your spider room on the telly & the lad in the flat upstairs got so confused he’s run into his bedroom to hide 😂😂😂😂😂😀 It’s only Tuesday as well !

I’m glad you put this video up. I’ve had an adult H.Gigas for about a year, I know what the spider looks like now. I’ve briefly seen it twice in a year, once when I rehoused and another time when it popped out at night and retreated the minute it clapped eyes with me. It’s dug a foot long tunnel and does not come out at all, ever. Couple how reclusive they are with how defensive they are and that is probably why they are not so popular.

hello. man oh man its been a while since ive watched one of your videos, and im glad to be back. i do come with a reason though, yesterday i found a Tarantula in my garden and i immediately housed him and he is now my new pet. but to be honest, im really nervous and i really really have no idea what im actually doing, but remembering your videos on rehousing them i managed to get a nice setup for him, i do have tonnes to learn. first of all, i dont know what to feed him or when, i just know i dont have to feed him daily so im doing some research on all that. im glad you are still uploading and i hope to get many more tips going forward. if i have identified him correctly i believe it is a - Harpactirella lightfooti-Lightfoot’s Lesser Baboon Spider. one thing i would like to know from anyone who does know is where can i get proper info on Tarantula's on how the housing should be, how to regulate heat and moister, how often to feed him etc etc.... id appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction for this info. and as always, great vid, keep it up.
another thing i just want to straighten out is, i have put normal soil/sand/gravel but im not sure if that is correct, do they need like damp compost and some grass in their enclosure or am i(is he) ok with dry rocky sand for now? i do plan on rehousing again once he has calmed down and is more chilled, im sure he is stressed at the moment as he is just sitting in the open. i have noticed when you rehouse them they quite quickly move behind the bark or dig a burrow.. so, im not quite sure. needless to say, he seems ok this morning, and is still chilling, but has made no effort to create a home for himself... is what im doing even ok for the spider or should i maybe reconsider keeping him as a pet? thank you to anyone who could help..

As for their popularity, I guess it doesn't help that they're old world tarantulas. Not to mention that in the eyes of some they must just be another species of brown spiders, without any particular markings or details that make them stand out from the crowd.
But this is all just speculation. 🙂

Hello Dave and Camera Lady. What an interesting pairing! I don’t think I have ever seen one like this. Usually the male is smaller but I was wondering if he might munch on her! He did seem to have other things on his mind. I was glad you explained about her small abdomen. It will be good to see her all fat and sassy. I will be interested to see how she handles having an egg sac if you are so lucky. I know that some of your young females haven’t done so well. 🤞🏻my fingers and wishing on a star that this will not be so. She is a lovely shade of green. Will she stay that color? Enjoy your show. Wish I could be there to say hello. Take care of each other and see you soon.❤❤🥰💤🛌

Hi Dave, trust you guys are all well. A quick question, when making the decision to advance into breeding T's, what advice would you give towards choosing which T's to start with?
I ask this as I started my journey with old worlds, and have seen a lot of information that new worlds should be the better option when starting. I do believe that "where you feel confortable" is a good place, however.....
