These amazing fossorial tarantulas from the Cameroons are so very underrated maybe because they are quit common and cheap, but don't be fooled they are a fantastic addition to any collection , today we pair one of our females and are shown some very unusual behaviour so join us and witness this awesome pairing .

I don't know if you're going to read this, but I want to tell you that some years ago I had arachnophobia and watching your channel not only made that irrational fear disappear, but also made me want to own a tarantula. Well, I started having tarantulas almost at the same time I started watching your videos and I never dared to comment here before. Now I have ten and I've learned to love them as if they were family. It is always a joy to watch your videos because of the knowledge and love you have for spiders. I've learned a lot about them and about how to take care of them. So, as it is never late, I'd like to thank you for your hard work, dedication and love for your spiders. This channel is just amazing. Big hug for you and, of course, for Camera Lady! Thanks, Dave!
How wondrous. Such a sweet couple.
And the to-be- mom goes onto the burrow:" And now, goodnight..."🥰
When you start watching different channels you will find that the majority of people who became experts on spiders or/and are now keeping them had arachnaphobia.(My wild backyard, tarantulacollective-to name a few.).So welcome to the club ❤...Maybe Dave had arachnaphobia too when he was younger?.But thats for him to tell if that is so.😂
Thats awesome so glad your enjoying the content and now enjoying your own spiders ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I started the same way but I only have 1 avic and it took me almost 2 years to get one!
I only have ONE T, but I am getting one more in May. Most probably a Grammostola pulchripes. The one, I have is a Brachypelma emilia, and she is 1 year and 4 months old, almost grown-up. 🥰
Yes!! But I wish you would post them a little earlier so I could go to sleep before 2 am 😂
Move to the West Coast - his posts are uploaded at 10:00pm here! 😊❤
It's 6:00 am here in the UK. 👍😄🕷️
I get them at 1am
You can tell they are both young. Wham Bam thank you ma’am!
I love these cameroon baboons. I have a sling of them. They beautiful
That was the clearest mating I’ve ever seen. What a great angle! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it
i have never seen such a small abdomen female pairing before. She was giving the perfect performance for everyone to see clearly. I hope we see an egg sac
She was definitely in charge there! Great pairing, nice and gentle.
Fantastic footage and really interesting behaviour. I love to see how these ‘aggressive’ defensive species are always so chilled with you 😊 They were lovely with each other too.
Dave, you're quite the commentator... My husband just asked me if I was watching spider porn again... lol. Always entertaining and educational. Have a fab time at the show!
❤❤❤
That pairing was amazing. Can’t believe the male was actually bigger than the female this time.
I've seen so many of your videos Dave and Camera Lady, and I don't think I remember seeing a female tarantula take charge like that. Is a fascinating behavior to say the least, coming from beings that are wired to work a certain way. I wonder if this behavior is more common with the these particular baboon species. Cheers Dave, brilliant video!
Its not often i see a male thats bigger than the female he really is huge compared to her another great pairing/video thankyou dave and camera lady for more aweosme footage and narrative! Much love ❤💜x
Very interesting. Thanks for the video Dave and Camera Lady
I paired my H gigas several months ago, and the male I used was so much smaller than my af female - he was probably a third of the size of your male, and he was fearless!
I really like these spiders. They're also known to actually swim lol. Really cool to see. Tyfs God bless you
Many spiders can swim- even unintentionally
This was a female that wanted it. Very great video.
I am calm. You were gentle. And I love your channel! 😊❤
Awesome! Thank you!❤️❤️❤️
This is priceless ! Just gone to fill in the back entrance of my Hystocrates crassipes burrow (why she needed 2 entrances I’ll never know) & she shot out the front like a bullet. So I’m chasing a large female H. crassipes round the living room whilst you’re chasing baby E. murinus round your spider room on the telly & the lad in the flat upstairs got so confused he’s run into his bedroom to hide 😂😂😂😂😂😀 It’s only Tuesday as well !
😂😂😂😂
It looks strange to see the female so much smaller than the male. Great video. Hope you guys sell lots at your venue. Good luck!!
A bit different species. He's got to have some long range to reach her. That definitely was quite smooth of a pairing.
Nice video, I can't get to the show, lol because I'm in Sydney Australia
That was very good pairing . Pray you have a great time at the show💙
I think thats the quickest pairing I've ever seen 😮 I think this one is going to be successful
☺️👍🏻
Thank you for the video Dave, enjoyed watching. Wow that went Quick and easy for you, glad to see that. Hope you do Well at the show !
They love their homes, apparently, but when they got into doing their thing, it was a speedy act! Intresting video, dear Dave and Sweet Camera Lady! I wish you both and all viewers a happy new week. Take care! 👋🕷♥️👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️you too
Excellent pairing Dave! I can't believe how much we could see in the pairing truly brilliant! Fingers crossed Dave ❤❤❤❤😊
Great footage it was nice to see the female take charge and she didn’t hurt the mail either. I may try to eat the mail. Enjoy every bit of that from Traci California. Have a great time at the show.
Thank you 🙏
Never seen one where the male was bigger. Nice cam work.
Very interesting! Strange how raising the abdomen assisted than hindered in this circumstance, w the male being significantly bigger than the female! Interested to see how this one goes✌️
I’ve never seen anything like that ! 😳
Fantastic footage thankyou.
Glad you enjoyed it❤️
It's always good when I see a new video is available and they're very enjoyable to watch. best regards two you both.!
❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was awesome and very quick.😊
I am home and getting better.
Thats great to hear ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Fascinating, aren’t they wonderful, another great video and have a great time at the show 😊
❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is the coolest thing I've ever seen!
That was really cool!!! Awesome close up of how they pair!!! So fascinating!!!!
Thank you very much!
Thanks! I love H gigas and excited to see this.
I didn't expect the size difference in reverse here, took me by surprise. Good luck with eggsac. I hear they're quite large?
Fantastic footage of such under rated spiders, so nice to see them showcased in their true form. I love mine x
Wow, wow, wow, that’s the fastest pairing I ever seen ! And first time a smaller male to boot. As always a great video. Good luck at the show Dave.
Thank you 🙏
Wow! That was amazing! Never seen a female taking charge of the action. They're always good for something unexpected, wich just shows how flexible they are in their behavioral patterns.
Every creature small and big has a different character..even antics
Hi Dave , very nice video.. good luck at the Invert Show. I hope you and camera lady have a fun time.
Thanks 👍
Not much of a courtship there 😂. I’d love to see her when she’s full grown. He’s huge ❤❤
Wow, your pairings are starting to create speed records, Dave!
Great footage of this pairing, Dave and Camera Lady! So happy it all went well there. Thank you for another fabulous video. ❤
Glad you enjoyed it
Very interesting pairing :)
That was a great video! That female was really cool. No playing around with her.
That was the first case of “wham, bam, thank you, Ma’am!”
Tarantula style❤
Brilliant as always Dave and Camera Lady 💙❤️🕷️
Loved this video and fantastic pairing.
Doing it for the girls that female wasn’t behind the door 😂
Great to see 💕💙🕷️🥰xxxx

Great video guys thank you so much beautiful spiders thank you xxxx
Good luck at the Central Show.
thank you mate 👍
That was bloody brilliant! Fabulous footage. I always enjoy every video, but this was really something special. First class Dave 👍
Thank you 🙏
very interesting PROFF with the size difference in this pairing. hopefully another project that gets a good result at the end . some great footage and information on these spiders. great footage CAMERA LADY . many thanks guys and take care.
I’m glad you put this video up. I’ve had an adult H.Gigas for about a year, I know what the spider looks like now. I’ve briefly seen it twice in a year, once when I rehoused and another time when it popped out at night and retreated the minute it clapped eyes with me. It’s dug a foot long tunnel and does not come out at all, ever. Couple how reclusive they are with how defensive they are and that is probably why they are not so popular.
What a great vid and she certainly knew what she wanted , fingers crossed for a successful pairing ..
hello. man oh man its been a while since ive watched one of your videos, and im glad to be back. i do come with a reason though, yesterday i found a Tarantula in my garden and i immediately housed him and he is now my new pet. but to be honest, im really nervous and i really really have no idea what im actually doing, but remembering your videos on rehousing them i managed to get a nice setup for him, i do have tonnes to learn. first of all, i dont know what to feed him or when, i just know i dont have to feed him daily so im doing some research on all that. im glad you are still uploading and i hope to get many more tips going forward. if i have identified him correctly i believe it is a - Harpactirella lightfooti-Lightfoot’s Lesser Baboon Spider. one thing i would like to know from anyone who does know is where can i get proper info on Tarantula's on how the housing should be, how to regulate heat and moister, how often to feed him etc etc.... id appreciate it if anyone could point me in the right direction for this info. and as always, great vid, keep it up.
another thing i just want to straighten out is, i have put normal soil/sand/gravel but im not sure if that is correct, do they need like damp compost and some grass in their enclosure or am i(is he) ok with dry rocky sand for now? i do plan on rehousing again once he has calmed down and is more chilled, im sure he is stressed at the moment as he is just sitting in the open. i have noticed when you rehouse them they quite quickly move behind the bark or dig a burrow.. so, im not quite sure. needless to say, he seems ok this morning, and is still chilling, but has made no effort to create a home for himself... is what im doing even ok for the spider or should i maybe reconsider keeping him as a pet? thank you to anyone who could help..
There’s lots on google for research check out as many as possible 🙏
Hello! I am the 4th one here WOW! It's 1:10am Mon morning
I must be in the same time zone as you.
@@judycook4314 That would be EST
Morning!
Dave, thank you for the Levi shirt. Looking good. ❤ (Camera Lady still got you beat.)
❤️❤️❤️❤️
fascinating and outstanding footage.
thanks for this video. very intructive. i like them
That was fantastic!!❤
Hello great video information and pairing Dave
awesome VIDEO Dave just love the H.Gigas well love the Baboons full stop lol
Spectacular footage! Thank you for sharing this amazing pairing video, appreciation!
Thank you very much!
The male is just as large as the female, you do not see that very often.
I have one its my favorite jar of dirt T lol. Never see it on the surface but anything falls into her tunnel is a goner. This pairing was like a roll reversal dude shocked girl takes charge such a fascinating pairing this was. Love your videos keep up the hard work.
Absolutely brilliant Dave, that was a very quick pairing and very successful one at that, they are, as you said Dave a beautiful species of spider 🕷, anyway Dave that's another super job by yourself and camera 📷 lady Dave.
Many thanks❤️👍
Recently, I got a choko golden knee. I have been a long-time viewer, and the family loves to watch together! Appreciate the inspiration of the tarantula communities like yourself!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for this cool video, Dave & camera Lady ! Awesome footage ! 👏🏾
As for their popularity, I guess it doesn't help that they're old world tarantulas. Not to mention that in the eyes of some they must just be another species of brown spiders, without any particular markings or details that make them stand out from the crowd.
But this is all just speculation. 🙂
Well they didn’t hang around for pleasantries, that was such a great pairing to watch he knew what needed to be done and he got straight down to business! I know the answer will vary, how long do mature males live? And how old are they when they mature? I now watch both videos on Thursday it is so nice sitting down and watching you over a longer period! ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤ ❤❤❤
Its all food and temperature related
I really like this genus, i have H. gigas and H. hercules both chunkey females and i almost see them everyday hanging in the mouth of their deep burrows.. they are everything but a boring pethole. Nice to finally see this species in one of your video's!
I love my H gigas! I was given it as a freebie by Adz Darcy. I was pretty wary about their reputation, but mine has never given any issues at all, even during a rehouse. ❤
Are you ever going to ship over seas? I want a Beastie spider.
She has quite a small abdomen, compared to some other species...fascinating to see pairing up close like that! Great video Dave 😊
Glad you enjoyed it
That male was huge in comparison! Do males ever eat females or is it always the other way around?
I think it's the other way around, females are usually much bigger than males. And yeah, they often eat the males after mating 😔
Edit: I didn't watch the whole video lol. In this case the male is the bigger one, but it's because the female isn't fully grown yet
@@samuelkiral5867 Male spider is a pedo
Sometimes it does happen
Hey Dave! I'm not sure if you've ever heard of communal attempts with this species, would you ever try that yourself?
My guess is he’d leave it to the spiders.
It always ends with one big spider in the end they are NOT communal
Thanks for this. I have one myself but I never see him/her.
My wife said if I was a spider I could be a "Cameroon Red Baboon" spider
Her abdomen looks tiny!
They have a very elongated abdomen
From a Texas fella… ❤ the Levi’s T!!
❤️❤️❤️👍
Manic Monday😊
Great video, Dave! 👍 Are there many species like this one with males that are larger than the females? I don’t believe that I’ve seen this before. Cheers! 🥃😎
The males vary hugely even in the same species sometimes
Some very interesting variations in behavior here, and things I haven't seen before. Incredibly clear footage of the insemination. Great job you guys!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very cool footage and I hope you get an you get an egg sac
❤🕷🕸
It amazes me how the males can find the epigastric furrows without seeing them.
Do you know if the female spider keeps "allowing" the male to pair with her until she "feels" there was a successful insemination? Is the way she held up her abdomen vertically common amount Baboons spiders during pairing?
Really great filming by the Beastie House crew!
The baboons do appear to follow this but not as exaggerated as this one
she's so little and skinny! Wild.
Any male would just sit there and digest what just happened because one moment he was in his box, the next he's in action with a female 😂😂
Why so skinny
It's the species.
They have a very elongated abdomen
Wow, truly impressive footage Dave...👍😃👍
Really cool pairing! One question, Dave. Is it common for this particular species that the females have these small and tiny abdomen like your female in the video, or is your specimen underfed?
They have a very elongated abdomen
Hey Dave! Präsentiere bitte mal deine neuen Terrarienkarten in einem deiner Videos. Würde sie gerne aus der Nähe sehen. Grüße aus Deutschland. Tolles Video.
We have shown them on Facebook facebook.com/Daveslittlebeastiesofficial/
I currently have 2 mature males and a female in a 55 gallon enclosure. Back in December they paired with the female multiple times. She's dug extensively, and I can't see where, ugh!!!
hysterocrates is a great messed up genus!
I know some species of spider the female can eat the male, but why does the male never try to eat the female
Because he has a limited amount of time to have offspring eating especially eating a female is a waste of time.
He just wants to reproduce with as many as possible
Great video thanks for sharing. Do the male's ever eat the females, cause normally it's the females eating the male's.
Occasionally yes they do
Hello Dave and Camera Lady. What an interesting pairing! I don’t think I have ever seen one like this. Usually the male is smaller but I was wondering if he might munch on her! He did seem to have other things on his mind. I was glad you explained about her small abdomen. It will be good to see her all fat and sassy. I will be interested to see how she handles having an egg sac if you are so lucky. I know that some of your young females haven’t done so well. 🤞🏻my fingers and wishing on a star that this will not be so. She is a lovely shade of green. Will she stay that color? Enjoy your show. Wish I could be there to say hello. Take care of each other and see you soon.❤❤🥰💤🛌
Fingers crossed for a sac 🤞
Hi Dave, trust you guys are all well. A quick question, when making the decision to advance into breeding T's, what advice would you give towards choosing which T's to start with?
I ask this as I started my journey with old worlds, and have seen a lot of information that new worlds should be the better option when starting. I do believe that "where you feel confortable" is a good place, however.....
Theres many to choose from M.balfouri , OBT, C. marchalli, all good old worlds along with P.irminia , P.cambridgei, avic avic for arborials ?
