Thank you for your videos. I'm so tired of fan boy/girl who have no culinary skills critique fine dining. It's nice to see a Chef do this and get a nonbiased opinion. Also, not to have to watch them eat, like a bunch of hillbillies at a BBQ.
Did you enjoy the lobster with both the Dundee Hills PN and Saint Julien or they ask you to choose one? They are way too different approaches to pair the same dish.
This guy is rich enough to eat in the "best" restaurant in the world, obviously he can also afford a team of professional creators to do the hard work for him don't you think?
I appreciate you saying it as it is. No filter, if stuff does something sloppy or the dish doesnt fit the course, its only fair to give the constructive criticism and give them the chance to fix the issues they might not be aware of. PROPS!
„Issues they might not be aware of“. Not to drag Alexander down, but he‘s not Rasmus Kofoed. While he might be right to criticise the dish choice, I would be very surprised if Rasmus wasn‘t aware of the „issues“ in his restaurant.
Can’t wait to see this channel grow! Definitely found a new niche in the culinary review industry. High quality, professionally reviewed, honest, narrated rather than in person. This adds a new level to the food review category on RUclips . With most reviews being in person and during the meal it’s amazing to let the experience happen and have the review after to truly showcase the experience. Felt like I was there! I will continue to be a fan if the videos stay this amazing.
I am working myself in a 2 star restaurant in Zurich and I obviously know this restaurant, a few people went there and were not so happy for the amount you pay, but other than that, it’s excellent. Btw: you should never have an empty glass, it’s not acceptable at this level
The meal is over - the experience is over - go home. You should know then that places like this will have a 4 hour service but the chefs have already been there for 9 or 10 hours at this point. If they aren’t filling your waters it is deliberate. The movies over, leave the theater.
The culinary world needs more of this style of critique. The overview spans the environment, service, personality and food and is distilled through a lens that compares the experience to the expectation that the organisation has advertised. The critique has more weight coming from someone that has walked that mile with their establishment and is aware of the challenges. The bullet points are not personal and are focused on the product and service on the table. If I were Geranium, I would find this fair and reasonable, with enough construction on where they could focus to make the final delivery that tad more cohesive.
I don't understand this kind of perfect video with such quality is not attracting more audience. I am more than happy and proud to be one of the earlier finders and supporters of this channel. Simply amazing!
It's very early, that's all. The channel is only 2 weeks old, and this is the 3rd or 4th video. The channel will start to do very well very soon. They've got great thumbnails, so they will get quite a few clicks. And the videos are great too, so they'll get lots of people watching the whole thing. Plus, look at how man comments they're getting! I suspect this isn't the first youtube channel the makers have developed. I really liked this video. The tone is great. I look forward to more.
@@nickroyce7320 I'm nowhere near the 0.1% but it definitely appeals to me! Geranium is a bit expensive, but I spent £65 on a 3* lunch (Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester). My only gripe with fine dining is whether the brigade are adequately paid, as I've heard of certain establishments relying on unpaid 'apprentices' in the kitchens.
As someone who cannot afford such gastronomic extravagance, I thoroughly enjoy the chance to experience such restaurants, even if it is second hand. Thanks!
i would save my money and spend them in a steakhouse or a italian pizza place instead, everytime ive been to these restaurants i miss something in my stomach, of course it tastes ok but nothing waow happens for me. when i get the bill i say waow 8)
It would be a greater restaurant experience if they paid Ralph Fiennes to dress up as the chef and step out in the middle of the meal to introduce himself.
Respect to you, Alexander, for this honest and comprehensive review, especially because you did not spare to mention the shortcomings of the service! Few people would have the courage to do that. I wish you success in your restaurant too! Greetings from Bulgaria!
I never knew I would be so interested in learning about fine dining like this. And I certainly wasn't expecting this level of polish based on the size of this channel. Criminally underrated, as the other comments have said.
I'm glad RUclips recommended this video to me. It's so beautifully produced! Though the restaurant reminds me of that common thought of $1,000 one-bite meals.
I enjoyed watching this tremendously. There is something very classy about watching someone have high expectations - and still being in awe of what was served.
In the last couple of years, street food channels got pretty big but I always wanted to see the other side of it too which is expensive restaurants that average person can't go. Seems like that's what you guys are doing. The best part is since he's not sponsored by these restaurants(I mean, not that these restaurants need any sort of advertisement :D) he could give his honest review. Good luck! Btw, at some point, I'd like to see you show us your own restaurant too :)
Incredibly formatted, edited, and especially well commentated video for such a small blooming channel, I wish you best of luck in the near future. Truly can see a bright future for content produced like this, will be watching your other videos without a doubt.
Not sure about fine dining, but in Denmark sitting at the table with empty plates and glasses still at the table is somewhat common, since you don't feel rushed out.
In the Netherlands it`s the same. I personally don`t like it, i want a clean table filled only with glasses of wine or cups of coffee. But for a 3 star michelin restaurant it`s not acceptable
Wow, what a great find! Most high class food review channels seem like the people want to sell their own lives rather than the places they visit. What a different style you have! Keep going!
Ate here in 2016 with my wife. One of the most incredible nights of my life. I had the vegetarian menu and my wife had the regular one. I've eaten at a few other Michelin star restaurants including another 3-star place, and they've been good, but Geranium just absolutely blew them away. It was expensive - cost about as much as the rest of our 1-week holiday in Copenhagen, even without the wine pairing - but very worth it. We sat near to the kitchen and it was great, we could see the cooks at work. Highly highly recommend. We'll never forget our experience there.
Glad to have found your Channel... Your frankness and obsession with the slightest of details are inordinately appreciated... Thank you brother, from South Africa 🙏🏾🇿🇦
Just discovered this channel, wow! What fantastic delivery, editing and commentary, absolutely amazing content, thanks so much for sharing these with us.
These videos are real fun to watch and professionally put together. Fine dining is not for me though, I've tried tasting menus a few timrs and realized I don't have the sophisticated pallate necessary to apreciate the taste of most of these dishes. But I do value the effort and artistry so this channel is perfect (and free to watch!)
Your content is addictive even for someone like me who would have to save up for an experience like this not to mention the fine suit I would need to hire to fit in! So entertaining and informative. It's like getting a peak into the super high end luxury which I can't afford and it's nice to just to see what it's all about and realise that, whilst I would love to experience it, it's not going to break my heart if I don't.
I think you said it. The service lagged a bit because of the youthfulness of the staff. It is always good to have some with more experience. Older. The younger ones can watch and learn more from the older more experienced ones. Yes, the truffle part didn’t excite me.
You have the opportunity to enjoy the best meals in the world and have the opportunities most of us will never have the chance to delight. But you deserve, worked hard and now, opens a new horizon of possibilities and why not dreams, to all of your subscribers. Well done, superb channel.
I live in Copenhagen and have tried all the nice ones over the years, Geranium, Noma, Era Ora etc. We do not go to these places for food, but for food art, as you say. Excellent review, and your criticism was justified. As further criticism, I find it very strange that Geranium has not responded to this video. I would have expected that, as I expect they take it seriously and immediately take steps to solve the two issues. Young waiters is definately one of the underlying problems here, but in Denmark there is widespread ageist discrimination, and they probably also barely pay the waiters anything, expecting them, as well as the chefs, to work very hard and long hours at top level for next to nothing.
Love the detailed commentary on all sides of the experience - from the food, to the ambience and service. Really shows how much thought and preparation is given to these videos. Thanks for the great content!
Normally I'd consider all this high-end fine dining a lot of fluff, but I wanted to try every single one of those dishes when I saw them! That was the most beautiful food presentation I've ever seen.
the price is no longer 3200 DKK (430 euros), it is now 3800 DKK (510 euros). They also recently increased the price of their cheapest drink pairing (juice) by a very large amount, from 1300 DKK (175 euros) to 2000 DKK (270 euros). Although they do have wines from (!) 500 DKK (67 euros) despite their huge margins they have the nerve to charge an (unspecified) surcharge for paying by credit card.
@@Matzes if you buy something (e.g. wine) for $10 and sell for $50, you have no justification to charge a credit charge surcharge. That is a $40 margin. If they were buying for $10 and selling for $10.50, that would be quite different. Accepting cards, with their fees, is part of doing business in the 21st century, especially when the bills are phone directory length that no sane person would carry that amount of cash.
I would’ve watched every frame due to the high production value. The added advantage of a comprehensive and masterful critique playing throughout was a bonus. I now know more than I ever knew about the #1 Restaurant in the World. #Greatcontent
I went to 2 stars Michelin before, and for a moment I weept, because I know how it feels to be overwhelmed by visual, scent, flavor and taste. I don't really get what criticism might be, other than envy. I'm definitely not a rich guy, but why the hell shouldn't I spend 300/400€ for a birthday or anniversary present by going to a Michelin restaurant...? If you rather spend your money otherwise, please do it, but also please don't lecture other people. Peace ☮️
I strongly doubt you will find any of those people amongst the viewers of this channel ;) It's your hard-earned money. And if spending them on culinary experiences every once in a while gives you memories for life, I'd say its money well spent!
Instant subscribe. This channel is going to be massive one day, what a joy to find it early on. Tremendous review, honest, insightful, and outstanding production value. Great work!
I’ll plan a visit to Geranium - Thanks for your reviews , I really like this very much because you give options on a upper tier of restaurants out there … Have you done anything in Asia , like Hog Kong ? Tokyo ? Singapore or even Kuala Lumpur? Thanks.
This is really cool production is great really seems like a video from a much larger channel. I would love to hear some more description of how your favourite meals tasted, it would be interesting.
Funny story: Back in the days when he was practicing for Bocuse d'or, he was doing it at the place where I worked. Earlier my friend and chief of the kitchen had talked about getting a chef trainee, and so I saw a young man working in his kitchen, so I asked him: Hans: What the hell! You finally got you chef trainee? Réne: ARE YOU CRAZY?!!?! Hans: Nooo? Why?!!?! Réne: It's Rasmus Kofoed!!! Hans: Ok, but is he your chef trainee?!?! Réne: NO!!! He's one of the worlds best chefs...! Hans: Ohhh :) Meanwhile Rasmus was smiling, and doing his amazing cooking :)
My personal opinion is that Michelin stars are a license to steal and elevate the chef above the customer. In my last trip to Modena, Italy, my best meal was at the cheapest, most modest family run restaurant (Osteria Santa Chiara), which has no stars, and our worst meal was at Osteria Francescana, where we paid $1,200 for two people to pay homage to Massimo Bottura. Francescana was so disappointing and unfortunately, is consistent with other michelin star restaurants. The juice is not worth the squeeze.
I do drink alcohol, but find it fun to try the non-alcoholic pairing at these types of restaurants. It’s usually quite creative and an interesting accompaniment to the food.
I am a Proud Danish Girl from København and I was Lucky enough to Live across the street to Chef Rasmus Koefods 3 Michelin Starred Restaurant Geranium 💖 I Love the Chefs and His the whole Team Geraniums approach to the Culinary Arts 🙂 Yes being a Bocouse D'Or Gold Winner is proving this Chefs True Genius 🙂 💖 I am living in Kraków now and I wish to one day go and visit this Lovely Restaurant and Experience what Love Tastes like 💖
I feel like michelin star restaurants are for a certain type of people, and id wager that the majority of the people watching this aren't the type that would go to a really fancy restaurant just because it has michelin stars. Me...? Id rather just hit up some local mom and pop hole in the wall joint, because they always have the tastiest food. My city has some great asian and mexican places. And you also get the best kind of service: take it home to eat in private, with friends or just by yourself, and some netflix/youtube to go along with it, without strangers staring at you :p
Yeah, fine dining isn't about having a meal, it's about the art. It really is like going to a fancy art exhibit except you get taste and smell on top of the visuals.
I find this video about Geranium restaurant quite fascinating. The introduction of the head chef, Rasmus Kofoed, is quite impressive, especially since he is the only chef to have won bronze, silver, and gold in the Bocuse d’Or. It's also interesting to see that the restaurant is located inside a football stadium, and the panoramic view of the city and sea from the 8th floor is breathtaking. The interior of the restaurant is minimalist yet luxurious, with marble-topped wooden tables and floral accents on the walls. I appreciate the innovation of the pescetarian menu, and the dishes served are all natural and refined. The servers are young and international, with a friendly and easy-going attitude, which is rare in a 3 Michelin star restaurant. The finishing area of the kitchen is open, adding another level of excitement to the experience. The dishes are beautifully presented, and the flavors are sharp and delicious. Overall, I think the Geranium restaurant provides a unique and memorable fine dining experience.
Would you consider making a top 10 list for your favorite menus or restaurants? Or maybe make a list for your favorites you have seen over a six or 12 month period? I would love to hear your thoughts and critiques on this!
So basically a meal for 2 here is going to cost me over 1000 Euros.... and I can't even eat Meat. The wine flights are priced at ridiculous and unjustified levels. The food looks absolutely stunning but in this current World climate this is bordering on Culinary Theft. Needless to say I'll never be dining here.
You pay for the experience and the artisan's work which is a common scenario for tasting menus in every fine dining experience. For someone who has foodie on their name, you clearly don't understand this at all. Why are you even watching in the first place 🤣
You could have just said nothing...rather than firing some butthurt passive-agressive comments at someone else's passion and livelihood. It's not robbery....no-one is forced to eat at this restaurant. And if people choose not to he will go out of business. But equally, if people do choose to spend their money on his food then why is it causing you a problem? Who's your next target? Ferrari? Van Gogh?
After working in a restaurant like this, the amount of effort that goes into one of those bites is astronomical. You don’t really see how it could cost so much until your in the industry
You know what, I never thought I'd say this but... I don't think I'm really interested in eating at the "best restaurant in the world". There's plenty of 1 star restaurants I believe look much more exciting and appetizing than this. Even some of the wines seem a bit lazy, Nyetimber and Dom Perignon?! When they boast such an expansive cellar? Something about this feels off for a 3 star restaurant. I also don't think the space looks very special. However the food does look exceptionally pretty and obviously the craft is incredible. Obviously this is just my opinion but I'm just voicing it because I'm surprised this is the feeling I'm left with by the end of this video. Thanks for the fantastic, comprehensive content as usual, Alexander.
so understated, with no prices on the menu, is dangerous: I could see myself going to a football game, stopping by for dinner, and not realizing until the first course came, "oh shit, I fucked up"
1st dish: Sea Taco 2nd dish: Glu w/ orbeez 3rd dish: Karen's Garden + cream 4th dish: fish oil 5th dish: Cra+ bowl 6th dish: green watercolor has gotten into my soup 7th dish: grazing pasture (w/ mild artisanal foods) 8th dish: grazing pasture part 2 9th dish: IHOP deluxe 10th dish: c r a a b w/ juice 11th dish: oatmeal? 12th dish: frothed milk w/ melted popsicle (aroma) 13th dish: ground ice from refrigerator 14th dish: yummy balls + Jerusalem artichoke reduction 15th dish: Red soup w/ bowl included (eat the bowl if u want to live) 16th dish: ur children decided to crush berries in a bowl Wine: -earth (270) -fire (875) -wind (2700) -water (605) If u drink all wines at the same time (or combine them) u become the avatar Bravo, Geranium.

Peace ☮️
I strongly doubt you will find any of those people amongst the viewers of this channel ;)
It's your hard-earned money. And if spending them on culinary experiences every once in a while gives you memories for life, I'd say its money well spent!
How on earth youtube just recommend me this channel! Definitely subscribed!
Instant subscribe. This channel is going to be massive one day, what a joy to find it early on. Tremendous review, honest, insightful, and outstanding production value. Great work!
Well done. Beautiful video, calming and soothing and wonderful camera work.
Very honest review on the service and the food. Love this video.
I like you hated the truffles.
No seriously. Pure honesty.
I’ll plan a visit to Geranium - Thanks for your reviews , I really like this very much because you give options on a upper tier of restaurants out there … Have you done anything in Asia , like Hog Kong ? Tokyo ? Singapore or even Kuala Lumpur? Thanks.
I understand why this place has 3 stars and it tasted quite good. Nice experience, but for me the simple cuisine is still the best.
This is really cool production is great really seems like a video from a much larger channel. I would love to hear some more description of how your favourite meals tasted, it would be interesting.
Funny story: Back in the days when he was practicing for Bocuse d'or, he was doing it at the place where I worked. Earlier my friend and chief of the kitchen had talked about getting a chef trainee, and so I saw a young man working in his kitchen, so I asked him:
Hans: What the hell! You finally got you chef trainee?
Réne: ARE YOU CRAZY?!!?!
Hans: Nooo? Why?!!?!
Réne: It's Rasmus Kofoed!!!
Hans: Ok, but is he your chef trainee?!?!
Réne: NO!!! He's one of the worlds best chefs...!
Hans: Ohhh :)
Meanwhile Rasmus was smiling, and doing his amazing cooking :)
I agree with you!
you not enjoying something doesn't equal it being bad.
you are brutally honest and I like that about your videos no sugarcoating
Eating at Michelin restaurants has become such a bargain since I stopped drinking. The mark up on those wines is wild Oo
Yeah but you're missing half of the experience. So, you're not really saving on anything.
Financially I certainly am saving. I chose not to drink so I'm not missing out on anything.
I do drink alcohol, but find it fun to try the non-alcoholic pairing at these types of restaurants. It’s usually quite creative and an interesting accompaniment to the food.
@@ToPlantASeed1spoken like a true alcoholic there
Great content! Thanks!
Nice video. Food looked very good and I'm glad you were critical as well.
Great production value.. subscribed sir!!
im still going to hot dog cart other side of the road
I am a Proud Danish Girl from København and I was Lucky enough to Live across the street to Chef Rasmus Koefods 3 Michelin Starred Restaurant Geranium 💖
I Love the Chefs and His the whole Team Geraniums approach to the Culinary Arts 🙂
Yes being a Bocouse D'Or Gold Winner is proving this Chefs True Genius 🙂 💖
I am living in Kraków now and I wish to one day go and visit this Lovely Restaurant and Experience what Love Tastes like 💖
I feel like michelin star restaurants are for a certain type of people, and id wager that the majority of the people watching this aren't the type that would go to a really fancy restaurant just because it has michelin stars.
Very nice. Finally we have Anthony Bourdain for luxury fine dining. 🔥
Color me unimpressed on Geranium's restaurant ambiance....it looks like a courtyard all-day dining restaurant, minus the good food!
I adore the objectivity of this channel. A very deserved new subscription, thank you sir:)
Boohoo nigga, boohoo
You pay for the experience and the artisan's work which is a common scenario for tasting menus in every fine dining experience. For someone who has foodie on their name, you clearly don't understand this at all. Why are you even watching in the first place 🤣
You could have just said nothing...rather than firing some butthurt passive-agressive comments at someone else's passion and livelihood. It's not robbery....no-one is forced to eat at this restaurant. And if people choose not to he will go out of business. But equally, if people do choose to spend their money on his food then why is it causing you a problem?
Who's your next target? Ferrari? Van Gogh?
blah blah blah this restaurant is not for you
After working in a restaurant like this, the amount of effort that goes into one of those bites is astronomical. You don’t really see how it could cost so much until your in the industry
We have to get this man to 1 mil. subs 🔥
I hate pretentious food with a passion.
And most people would rather watch t.v. than go to an art museum. Fine dining is art, not food.
Excellent video and thank you for taking us with you
Look forward to your next destination ! 🍽️ 🍷
Waste of money
I suspect the finer things in life - aren’t part of your life.
I thought the first course was a flower bouquet LMAO
Pretentious nonsense for the rich.
100% true
Thank you! Superb honest review that i loved. Best wishes.
God this rich folk aesthetic feels oppressively pretentious
The 2022 best restaurant in the world according to William Reed’s list, The World's 50 Best Restaurants, one should add.
“I want a cheeseburger”
Amazing. Just realized that this channel has been missing from my life forever.
The presentation of the dishes resembles exceptional works of art rather than mere food.
While I may never be able to afford something like this I still appreciate seeing a great review. I think this is well prepared and presented.
Thanks for the fantastic, comprehensive content as usual, Alexander.
these videos are outstanding!
One of, if not the best food review ever and I have seen hundreds.
Bravo.
I am subscribing as I type.
great video and detail infomation . thanks a lot .
Fantastic pictures and comments. Great work, Alexander! Keep it coming.
Szép volt Alex, csak így tovább!!
Good to see a review from someone that isn't so enamored by everything that the few negatives slip past them unnoticed.
so understated, with no prices on the menu, is dangerous: I could see myself going to a football game, stopping by for dinner, and not realizing until the first course came, "oh shit, I fucked up"
You spoke so elegantly while describing the restaurant story.

Bravo, Geranium.
Has anyone seen "The Menu" movie? This is exactly what they take a piss of.
Sometimes the youtube algorithm brings me a something worth my time. Great review subscribed. going to check your other stuff now :)
I'm glad that this was recommended! I'm looking forward to more content, keep it up!
