The animated series is where they first started writing that the symbiote affects Peter's behavior. It wasn't like that at all in the original 616 comics. Without this show, we never get emo Peter in Spiderman 3.
@@niccerkadoabuckado8256 Amazing Spider-Man 299 was when Peter got rid of the suit after it escaped from Reed Richards lab. He only got rid of it after finding out it was alive, not because it made him a worse person.
Yep, in The Comics the Symbiote(Krobaa) was originally basically just an extraterrestrial adrenaline junkie that was regarded as insane by its species as it wanted to bond with an individual host rather than feeding off their adrenaline and drying them out like the rest of the symbiotes did. However,Krobaa and Brock`s shared hatred of Spider-Man permanently corrupted the symbiotes, causing them to mutate into the hate-filled,zombielike,maneating monsters they are now!In the Ultimate Comics, an extra layer of tragedy is added to the symbiotes where instead of being of extraterrestrial origin, they were created by Peter and Eddie`s fathers as a cure for cancer but Brock Sr. got greedy and jealous of Richard, sold the suit to Bolivar Trask of the Sentinel Program and defense contractors including Adrian Toomes(Who didn`t become the Vulture in Ultimate continuity, instead they skipped straight to his replacement Blackie Drago)and bonded with the suit on a plane, killing Richard and Mary Parker. The discrepancy between the Suit`s original benevolent programming and its new weaponized one drove it insane, making it more of a parasite than a symbiote at least until Eddie and Peter`s suits remerged as one! Also Carnage was a piece of the suit Peter and Dr. Curt Conners(Yes, that`s how it`s spelled in the Ultimate Universe)along with Ben Reilly(An African-American lab assistant, not a Spider-Clone in the Ultimate Universe)mixed with Peter,Richard`s and Conners` blood and eventually killed Ultimate Gwen Stacy and turned into a clone of her(And Richard and Mary Parker) more akin to her Classic 616 Counterpart in order to be loved by Peter whom the creature(Nicknamed "Little Ben" by Conners after lab assistant Ben Reilly)considered its "daddy". Cletus Kasady was also mentioned briefly in Ultimate MARVEL Team-Up as an Internet troll separate from Ultimate Carnage!

I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 90’s and was able to watch the animated spider man, Batman and X-men shows as a kid. I would say Kids these days are missing out but they could literally binge watch every episode of all those great shows whenever they want.
@@stephenbreen7570 That's true. While I also enjoy binge-watching as an adult, I'm not sure it provide me with quite the same experience if I had it as a kid. There was definitely something exciting and "profound" (for a kid) to have a whole week to process a given episode which ended on a cliffhanger and to ponder what was going to happen next...
@@martinledermann1862 Exactly, this is why I love what Disney is doing with their shows. Releasing an episode a week. Allows the mind to speculate the outcome of the cliffhanger.
I loved how the Neogenic Nightmare basically explained Spider-Man's powers as a 'Stage 1' of a larger mutation, not the end result. Stage 2 is crippling abdominal pain and the six arms, Stage 3 is the final form, Man-Spider, where Peter is lost inside a grotesque inhuman monster. It was body horror straight out of 'The Fly' and utterly harrowing for a kids TV show. It's still one of the best arcs too.
Man, the reveal that the MJ that knew that Peter was spider man and married him was a clone and was about to evaporate still is both extremely shocking and heartbreaking
Ranks up there in no particular order with Batman the Animated Series, X-Men the Animated Series and Power Rangers. I rewatched it on Disney XD about 10-15 years ago and rewatched some again of Spiderman TAS on my sister's Disney+ after 10-15 years and it was as if I rewatched it yesterday. It was and still is amazing no matter how often you rewatch it!
My childhood in the 90's! Saturday morning serialised story arcs made mandatory viewing every week for a teenage boy. My 1st introduction to the Avengers before the MCU even existed. Always remember "The Six Forgotten Warriors" story arc in season 5.
The macho man episode was gold, Croger is gone but his legacy will be adult swim and space ghost along with a generation of people who like a 60's cartoon style that was outdated even when it was cool. Long live birdman too for all it's inside jokes.
The storyline here are way cool. I wish they would do something interesting like this in the movies. Secret wars, the mutation, all of these would be great
I know the censorship of the show and sometimes weird animation held the show back but the storytelling and plots still make this my definitive Spiderman adaptations. It's such a great show and the stories still hold up
This is the definitive version of Spider-Man, Even after all these years, I still think this show has the most iconic versions of most of the Spider-Man characters, Spidey himself, Lizard, Venom, Scorpion, Shocker, Rhino, Venom in particular. They nailed Venom and Eddie Brock the best imo
Spider-man loosing MJ when she evaporates still makes me sad to this day...such a mature moment in an animated series, never to be toped. Only rivalled when Wolverine was mourning the loss of Morph and Beast.
Started every morning with a bowl of cereal and an episode of Spiderman when I was a kid. Life was good. X-Men animated series as well but Spiderman always had the best villain roster compared to other superheroes.
I still need to get a dvd set of this show. So far I have the original tmnt series, Batman TAS and Beast Wars. Definitely need the X-men series as well.
This video reminds me of those pleonastic a-tistic wikis that don't tell you anything substantial about a subject but go into lengthy descriptions of what they look like and events that take place down to irrelevant details
I'll never get over the last episode when Spidey asked Madame Web about MJ and she replied " Oh she's fine. But there's someone MORE important I want you to meet!" I was like, " WHAT THE HELL?! How is Stan Lee more important than your Wife?! That's Bullspit man! You have any idea what Peter went through?!"
The episode with mysterio where mj gets cast to play a actress who was presumed dead from an accident that mysterio did only to reveal a dark secret that mysterio kept hidden in his hideout and spiderman fights robot version of all his villains to rescue mj that episode was suspenseful
This series needs to be finished once and for all, it's been years and we deserve the original ending we were promised as kids. Probably the best animated series ever made IMO. seconded by BTAS.
I don't care what anyone says. I grew up with this cartoon on Fox Kids in the late 90s and that was the essential Spider-Man for me. It is a landmark (just like Batman TAS & X-Men TAS) and everything else Spider-Man related that came after had to be compared to this right here. So many great storylines & cameos - The Sinister Six, Venom & Carnage, Hobgoblin & Green Goblin, Morbius, The Mutation story, Daredevil, Punisher, Blade, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Cpt. America & Red Skull, Secret Wars, Hydroman & The Clones - it was what Marvel is doing now with the Cinematic Univers. Way ahead of it its time. Yeah, the animation is a bit clunky & reused a lof ot the times but it had heart and rarely if ever got boring. Seriously underrated. No Way Home is the first Spider-Man movie that legit lives up to the hype this series introduced.
The 90s cartoon was my first real introduction to Spider-Man. My dad knew a little and actually recognized Shocker before his name was said. But that show really made me a fan. I actually liked how Hobgoblin came first and was just a street thug given weapons and a gimmick to assassinate the Kingpin. The idea of Norman using a proxy rather then doing it himself was a cool twist. I keep hoping one of the movies eventually copies that idea.
12:20 Apparently during that scene, Christopher Daniel Barnes was told to do that because the Symbiote was making Peter believe that Shocker was Uncle Ben's killer
14:28 - Probably a very known fact, but Lizard in this storyline was supposed to be The Hulk and Banner but they didn't have the rights to him at that moment as another program was broadcasting it as a cartoon at the time
24:33 I like that he ended his sentences with the word "man" like Bart Simpson. XD Imagine Venom gets mad at him and says: "WHY YOU LITTLE-" then strangles him. XD
What pisses me off is WHY THE HELL ISN'T THIS ON DISNEY PLUS?! AND WHY HAVENT WE GOTTEN THE TEAM OF WRITERS BACK AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS TO FINISH THIS SHOW?! THIS WAS GREAT AS A KID! This and the MTV spider man left me hanging so hard!
I remember the first time we saw Spiderman in X-Men. It was just a cameo of his hand using his webbing, in the middle of an X-Men episode. I was in 5th grade at the time, had my friends over and we all freaked out, "they're making a Spiderman cartoon!" This was a big deal back then.
The original 'MCU' :D Definitely a trendsetter in a lot of ways despite the insane restrictions and increasingly awkward writing. This is probably the most sympathetic version of the Green Goblin ever, appearing as more of a shared mental illness for the Osborn family created by a lack of love and paranoia. The finale was particularly poignant, and they even devoted a series of comics to realizing Season 6/telling new stories in the same universe.
This cartoon made me love Spider-man. Watching it in my childhood on fox kids was such a great time. Now after more than 1.3k of spidey comics read over the years, I'm so grateful to have watched it back then. Besides the cartoon being absolutely amazing, I now have those memories and love spidey my entire life.
Man I’m so happy this video was made. I remember all of these episodes now that this video reminded me and showed me the clips which I was so young that I hardly remembered anything but now I recall so much about this show that I love so much
This show was a major milestone of my childhood. Every Saturday morning I tuned in, loved this even more than the X-men animated series. Spiderman was always my favorite superhero, a loner who never the less sacrificed so much for people he didn't even know. The most constant recurring theme within this serries has to be self sacrafice, from Captain America in the 6 forgotton warriors ark, to Venom and even the evil clone Peter Parker in the final episode. They all sacrafice themselves to save others, even if it means laying down their own life. Such an amazing show with so many memorable moments. Bravo
Big part of the childhood right here. Mades Spider-Man my favorite of all time. They didn’t mention when the Spider-Man’s from multiple realities came together. That was a truly amazing follow up to the Secret Wars arc.
This was the show that made me a Spiderman fan. Growing up in the 90s I had options too, xmen and batman animated series were both great. But this show was my go to.
22:33 What I feel worried at times. Is about some strangers. The not so friendly ones, try to spy and discover my personal identity. I will do my best not have my identity leaked by strangers. I need to be aware at times.
In regards to “Peter Finds Mary Jane,” I was sent a copy of the script from John Semper himself. I would just want Disney+ to turn it into an animated feature exclusive to give this series its proper closure.
@@kevinnevada5342 I also was fascinated by the story that was being told. It took place in Victorian London around the time of the infamous “Jack The Ripper” murders. However, filling in for Jack was Carnage/Cletus Kasady.
It also featured a couple of fictional characters from other franchises brought to life. Among them were: • H.G. Welles • Mrs. Hudson • Dr. Watson And, of course • Sherlock Holmes
It also would have featured the return of • J. Jonah Jameson • Flash Thompson • Mysterio/Quentin Beck • Green Goblin/Harry Osborn And, at long last • Mary Jane Watson (the real deal)

Before we had the MCU, there was this! Earth-92131. It was really cool seeing the Xmen, Ironman and Spiderman cross over into each others universes in these shows. I did an analysis/lore video on This Spiderman on my own channel not too long ago! Glad to see there are still lots of other 90s Spiderfans out there 🙂
I feel so lucky to have grown up in the 90’s and was able to watch the animated spider man, Batman and X-men shows as a kid. I would say Kids these days are missing out but they could literally binge watch every episode of all those great shows whenever they want.
There's something about a serialized show that only airs once a week.
THIS IS MY FAVORITE OF VERSION ANY SPIDERMAN.
Ong
Man, the reveal that the MJ that knew that Peter was spider man and married him was a clone and was about to evaporate still is both extremely shocking and heartbreaking
I love this show!!! It was one of my favorites growing up!
It was and still is amazing no matter how often you rewatch it!
same
My childhood in the 90's! Saturday morning serialised story arcs made mandatory viewing every week for a teenage boy.
My 1st introduction to the Avengers before the MCU even existed. Always remember "The Six Forgotten Warriors" story arc in season 5.
10 Surreal and Offbeat Episodes of Space Ghost Coast to Coast loved this show back in the day
The macho man episode was gold, Croger is gone but his legacy will be adult swim and space ghost along with a generation of people who like a 60's cartoon style that was outdated even when it was cool.
Long live birdman too for all it's inside jokes.
I remember having a Spider-Man game for SNES based on this amazing TV Show. Ah, the good old days of being a 10 year old boy back then.
The newests Spiderman series have better animation, but they are still no match to this titan whose quality shadows everyone else
agreed the animation might not always be flawless, but the colors, the action, the drama, the characters are all so compelling
@@AndreNitroX Yes, and the new series are not that compelling
@@rodimus7926 spectacular spiderman is good, but ultimate spiderman and all the new lame spiderman shows have all fallen flat.
@@AndreNitroX Ultimate was a very lame show
@@rodimus7926 yes
If I remember correctly, Madame Web was voiced by Stan Lee's actual wife.
You are right
The storyline here are way cool. I wish they would do something interesting like this in the movies. Secret wars, the mutation, all of these would be great
Man that show was so good, so many interesting storylines.
I know the censorship of the show and sometimes weird animation held the show back but the storytelling and plots still make this my definitive Spiderman adaptations. It's such a great show and the stories still hold up
Peter's scream after watching MJ evaporate still gives me chills
Spiderman: Exists
Madame Webb: I'm going to end this man's whole career.
This is true from a certain point of view ;)
The best series of Spiderman, but I never like the fact that in the ending Spiderman never meet again with the real Mary Jane
I still need to get a dvd set of this show. So far I have the original tmnt series, Batman TAS and Beast Wars. Definitely need the X-men series as well.
It's on Disney+
@@RichO1701e yeah but I feel better owning an actual hard copy.
You just made me queue Beast Wars and X Men. I still have Spiderman and watch it quite often.
I feel like MJ being trapped in an eternity of falling in a spiraling dimension is darker than her just dying lol
This show will always be the 🐐 of Spider-Man cartoons to me. Every single second of it SCREAMS comic books and I absolutely love it.
The darkest episode is definitely when the Vulture absorbed the Man Spider DNA and fused with it causing him to mutate that shit was terrifying lol
I'll never understand why people think spectacular is better than this series
Since they’re bringing back xmen from 92 to continue it, they definitely have to bring this back and continue it.
This video reminds me of those pleonastic a-tistic wikis that don't tell you anything substantial about a subject but go into lengthy descriptions of what they look like and events that take place down to irrelevant details
My most favorite Spider-Man cartoons and I’m so glad I can catchup via streaming
He created Spiderman and they did leave to find her
So basically Stan lee is Spiderman father
Stan lee can create a new mary jane for peter...from his..imagination. Excelsior true believers !
@Stephen O'Brien They did it together
The episode with mysterio where mj gets cast to play a actress who was presumed dead from an accident that mysterio did only to reveal a dark secret that mysterio kept hidden in his hideout and spiderman fights robot version of all his villains to rescue mj that episode was suspenseful
This series needs to be finished once and for all, it's been years and we deserve the original ending we were promised as kids. Probably the best animated series ever made IMO. seconded by BTAS.
This needs to come out on dvd & Blu-ray as a complete series box set already & not come out as trickles of just a few sticks of dvds
all 5 seasons on dvd in the uk
The animation of this show was awesome back in the day. Still to this day it holds up pretty good. For the most part that is .
Yeah, the 3D buildings don't look too good today, which is understandable. But the colors and shadows still look stunning.
That missing final episode was always a painful memory. So glad to read the final script!
Absolutely loved VENOM's story arch in this series.
this show, Batman TAS and Xmen on fox kids back in the day on channel 11 on Saturday mornings was MY JAM!
Batman, I thought he came on WB... I remember the 1st episode aired at night time
My childhood 😊
Same here, this series made me love spiderman
mine too
The 90s cartoon was my first real introduction to Spider-Man.
Best spiderman series in my opinion. Was essential part of my childhood, its great that Marvel's Spiderman for PS4 caught its atmosphere.
Favourite Spiderman X Men👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
I was born in 2001 and I remember watching reruns of this show when I was really little. Still the best Spider-Man show in my opinion
Getting flashbacks of 5yr. old me and I appreciate it.
14:28 - Probably a very known fact, but Lizard in this storyline was supposed to be The Hulk and Banner but they didn't have the rights to him at that moment as another program was broadcasting it as a cartoon at the time
I don’t remember the visual quality to be this good. Our analog signals were bad :)
This cartoon and BATMAN: T.A.S, two of the BEST cartoons of the 90's. ( and X-MEN also)
24:33
I like that he ended his sentences with the word "man" like Bart Simpson. XD
Imagine Venom gets mad at him and says: "WHY YOU LITTLE-"
then strangles him. XD
This is my favorite Spider-Man .
This is on Disney plus I wish they finish the last season tho
Don't let Disney touch this show, they would rip this masterpiece apart.
it is on Disney+
I remember the first time we saw Spiderman in X-Men. It was just a cameo of his hand using his webbing, in the middle of an X-Men episode. I was in 5th grade at the time, had my friends over and we all freaked out, "they're making a Spiderman cartoon!" This was a big deal back then.
Lizard talking up with Ben Grimm, iron man, Storm, and Black cat was amazing I'm sad they never did that again
Till this day that "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" will forever be haunting/iconic
The original 'MCU' :D
Definitely a trendsetter in a lot of ways despite the insane restrictions and increasingly awkward writing.
Ong I miss Spider-Man man
I’ve seen every one of these haha actually rewatching all of em again now, I’m on season 2, episode 5 I think. I got a long way to go.
Bravo
I wish they'd had a chance to do more crossover episodes. I would've loved to have seen Hulk and Ghost Rider team up with this version of Spidey.
It will forever be the greatest Spider-Man animated series.
Ong
It has one of the best versions of Black Cat!
Good choices of 10 dark and nail-biting episodes. This series is on the pinnacle list of my childhood. Top 5 Marvel animated cartoons ever made !
I'm surprised you omitted most Neogenic Nightmare, it was my favorite arc
Big part of the childhood right here. Mades Spider-Man my favorite of all time. They didn’t mention when the Spider-Man’s from multiple realities came together. That was a truly amazing follow up to the Secret Wars arc.
Such a good narration. Next do X-Men the animated Series please!
growing up through the 80s is where its at..BUT..being alive long enough to make it through the 90s is a great plus :)
👏👏👏👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Great show
This animated series was much darker then other Saturday morning cartoons.
Can you do the countdown about Spider-Man’s Herbert Landon deserves in the live action movie about him?
This was the show that made me a Spiderman fan. Growing up in the 90s I had options too, xmen and batman animated series were both great. But this show was my go to.
90s 🤟🏾
I was 7 when this came out. Watching this made me a Marvel fan.
And X-Men animated series.
Dormammu I've come to bargain.
Dormammu I've come to bargain
Dormammu I've come to bargain
22:33 What I feel worried at times. Is about some strangers. The not so friendly ones, try to spy and discover my personal identity. I will do my best not have my identity leaked by strangers. I need to be aware at times.
In regards to “Peter Finds Mary Jane,” I was sent a copy of the script from John Semper himself. I would just want Disney+ to turn it into an animated feature exclusive to give this series its proper closure.
Fascinating . to say the least
Among them were:
• H.G. Welles
• Mrs. Hudson
• Dr. Watson
And, of course
• Sherlock Holmes
It also would have featured the return of
• J. Jonah Jameson
• Flash Thompson
• Mysterio/Quentin Beck
• Green Goblin/Harry Osborn
And, at long last
• Mary Jane Watson (the real deal)
The plot ultimately leads to a final showdown at Big Ben. And when it strikes midnight, Carnage really ends up in a world of pain.
This cartoon got Spider-Man’s character right he was well developed. It’s how Spider-Man should be. He even took leadership positions when teaming with other heroes.
