I just bought a Kwik-Lift yesterday. Found it on FB Marketplace. I didn't know which length to set them, so figured to try the shortest first. That was a mistake, because the jack-bar is too far under the car. I'll have to make them longer & try again... Thanks for the video. It helps to see you set up tricks.
This is a nice idea to make the work not only easier, but also more safety. I’ve found this video when I was looking for some ideas for car lift which is simple and affordable. For me this lift seems to be ideal for my garage because my garage is small and low height. However, I am living in Japan and this lift is not available for me unfortunately. Therefore, I am considering to make similar lift by myself. If you could give some information about the thickness of the lift panels, it would be very nice. Finally, thank you for uploading the video. I’ve subscribed your channel. I would like you to make a video to introduce your garage and tools in future.
I don't really know too many specs on the Kwik-Lift but if you check out the web site that may give you more info than I could. [my guess would be 14 gauge]. I bought this used, I got a killer deal on it. Found it on f/b marketplace. I called him up and offered $150 less than what he was asking [figured the worse he could do is say no]. But he said, "If you come tonight, you can have it". I was also considering [at the time] Quick Jack, another option for low ceiling garages.
@@itseasiertotakeitsomewhere738 Thanks a lot for your reply and suggestions. I visited the web site once, but will check again. Quick Jack is available in Japan. To buy the used one would be nice if I could find it.
For safety reasons, do not try and lift the back of the car once it is on the ramps. I don't take it apart I just take the stantions off when I don't need the car in the air.
There is a cross bar at the back that tie the two ramps together, you jack the ramps up and when high enough fold down the legs then let the jack down. Agreed, not much good if you can't drive up the ramps. Luckily, I haven't been in that situation. I've thought about rigging up a winch to the front of the ramps, but I'll deal with that when the time comes.
I wouldn't because if the stanchions slip off the blocks while you drive up or when you stop, "bad things could happen". As it sits the bottom of the wheels are 20" off the ground.
Good afternoon. Can I please ask you to measure the dimensions of your lift with a tape measure, what is the height and width? how thick is the metal? I want to make one myself. Thank you
I see long ass ramps that take up too much room and when your car is on them, you still have to crawl under the car just like you would with jack stands or smaller traditional ramps. Where is the benefit here?
Yes, you still have to get under the car just like on a creeper, but the ramps are extremely safe unlike jack stands. Drive up the ramps then jack up the back via the cross bar at the rear of the ramps, fold the legs down and you are good to go. The whole car is up in the air 22" from the bottom of the wheels.
This is the safest option to mid-rise lift/jack a car, and could be the fastest option too. This is what I went with actually as I never really needed to walk under a car.. yet
It does come with a cross bridge that you can put a bottle jack on a raise the vehicle then support it with jack stands or whatever you want to support your vehicle with.

Work smarter not harder. Was wanting to get one of these. Good hack.
I do since 2003 and love it.
I love the DIYer ingenuity! Work smarter not harder.
Now all I need to start is a nice sized garage lol, great hack brother
Thank you very good and simple for small garage. Good idea! I want to do the same in mine
I like it bud! I’ve been looking at heaps of different ideas but I’m coming back to this one! My old dodge can park up on it .
Good gob for a small garage i sure they came in very useful doing machanic stuff good luck 👍
Ingenious! why not use scissor jack to lift other end also?

Very nice lift. Thanks for sharing 👍
That is a good idea, thank you!
I never lower mine, just park on it.
Thanks for making the video. I am thinking to buy the lift. Can I ask how wide is each ramp?
The top is 16" wide and the bottom part is 19". Each ramp is adjustable.
Now you’re thinking, working smarter not harder lol
Отличная идея
I have one Great!
Every boy should have one. 😜
Will the jack not lift the back it will lift a car? I have to ask why do you take it apart each time is it in the way?

I don't take it apart I just take the stantions off when I don't need the car in the air.
You can lift the rear of the ramp, it has a cross member and legs for that purpose.
So how do you raise the other end when the vehicle is on it? Not much good if your vehicle can't drive up the slope.

Air Jack ???
If it can get it up high enough, anything will work.
Can I put bocks under that ramp tower to increase the height of lift?
I wouldn't because if the stanchions slip off the blocks while you drive up or when you stop, "bad things could happen".

If i cant take the wheels off, its over engineered car ramps
