  • The tiny home movement is growing in popularity across the country and two Dover women think tiny homes can make a dent in Delaware's homeless problem.
Along a busy street in Dover, a 10 by 20 foot tiny home sits in front of a church. With just 200 square feet to work with, there's not a ton of wiggle room, but there is a living space, kitchen, pull-out bed, bathroom and utilities.
This tiny house and others like it could help make a dent in Delaware's homeless population.

Housing is a way for the homeless and battered women who need a place to stay. It's great that this is happening. Let the homeless help build these homes in order to be stay in them and no drugs or alcohol.

I love these models with the pull out beds..
They are very efficient. I want these here. I found a farm to make into a working community. Farm/campground a place to do better. Garden of Hope project.

Dear people, you each will stand before GOD very soon. Act with wisdom and compassion.

homelessness is not a character defect, it is a temporary situation that a person finds themselves in.

My other dream for homeless veterans: Such as there are 'retirement communities', there also should be 'veterans communities' built for areas where there are a large amount of veterans homeless. Oh how the wealthy could be of more help and solutions to homeless and help the poor, but they don't. They end up serving themselves and their level of persons in the end. "Oh how it is easier for a Camel to pass through an eye of a needle, than a rich man enter the Kingdom of God". God sees just how abusive and neglectful the rich are toward the lower income bracket as taught many years ago, and to this day, the rich still fulfill the warnings and teachings from Christ about the different types of people that rule the world.

I live in the Cincinnati area and would like to do the same here for the homeless. All I can do for now is give out "care packages" in the shape of backpacks.

Buy some land & talk to your city council about starting one.

@@christinarobleto1786, would love to, if it wasn't for the fact that I am on limited fund's at the moment. But it is a great idea. I should talk to city council though about it. Maybe help build some of the homes as well. Oh, I want to thank you for commenting. Haven't seen the video for a year. This video may help with city council.

What happened with this church effort? I am going to build a tiny home thru Incredible Tiny Homes, in New Port, TN. Randy Jones is opening three communities on his property.

This would be a good alternative then tent cities, they should use vacant lots too & keep the resources in the same area. I've seen some homeless villages smaller than that with a commonplace for shower & kitchen, if done right they will help people to transition to a more permanent home later & help them find work & off drugs. I've seen some communities that look really nice & the tenants take ownership to clean up the area

Tiny homes are the solution to homelessness.

Though this may be helpful for single occupants this will leave mothers with children and families out in the cold ..perhaps this will leave vacancies in shelters where mothers and children can stay ?

They could also make some exceptions and build slightly larger tiny homes that could accommodate a single mother with children.

Check out the "conestoga huts" for the homeless. Much cheaper and can be built in ONE day for under $1000 each.

Hopefully it's not the pacific pipe with plastic sheeting that looks like the top of a prairie wagon, they don't look very stable, but the tiny homes would be a more permanent means of providing temporary housing.
