I love how some people criticize an act of kindness while being comfortable in their homes watching youtube videos without moving a finger towards helping other human beings in need and extreme poverty, and not having a clue of what is like to not have a roof on top to protect and shelter yourself. If you watch this and don’t like it, start doing something yourself with your own money and resources.
I live in this particular city. Rent is $2,000 for a one bedroom apartment. As they build these homes it’s some Yuppie crying about those houses being too close to them. They are making something big enough to sleep in. They get tons of money but don’t really use it. I worked in the building dept at the City for years and saw it first hand.
It is too small. Make him and those other people live in that for 30 days. If they don't stop with it or keep saying they just don't understand, 90 days, etc.
Seeing the faces of happiness of the homeless makes me feel humble. They have a roof over their heads and they feel safer. Thanks to wonderful people like Greg.
it is worse than that. by laws do not permit these tiny houses, on account of fire hazards, not built to height, so if they get their hands on them, they straight up destroy them.
@@aristhelynranalan1702 oh i totally agree. these tiny shelters are much better than nothing. But I also agree with the city by laws as well. Imagine sleeping in one of these shelters during the daytime for instance, and they will become just like insides of a car, hot boxes of death. So the by laws are for a reason too eh. I do know, that the tiny houses made in communities are for sure changing the lives of chronically homeless. By building to current codes, and by providing safe spaces for chronically homeless to live forever in. Not temporary housing. But for as long as that person chooses to live in that community itself. That is the solution. Check out the Austin Community First Program they have put together.
for as long as it is built with purpose and has wheels.... this tiny home is the answer for homelessness, I appreciate the people behind this project...
Living in the Bay sickens me. The wealth disparity between the super rich and the poor (homeless) is appalling. The city (cities - SF, Oakland, Berkeley, Richmond) don't do anything to improve the lives of the homeless. People - wealthy, middle/upper-middle class people just walk past them as if they're invisible. Sometimes I find homeless sleeping in the bushes next to my apartment. It's horrible. In Berkeley, some residents are trying to pass a law that would kick out the homeless because 'they make the city look bad'. It disgusting.
I visited the area last August. It was horrible. The sadness and despair filled the air. My intention was to visit lived ones and soak up hippie culture. Instead I saw homeless PEOPLE living in the shadows of huge, cold buildings.
Beautiful. Kindness and ingenuity. It’s even eco friendly to use items that would go in a landfill otherwise. Compassion is a powerful thing. The person who said “someone looks out their home and sees this temporary home is going to be annoyed” what a small mind and a bad heart.
“‘..With liberty and justice for all..” ..but I guess not for those they deem a nuisance, or not paying them anything. Where’s the justice for those who have their gifted homes taken away?
@@RA-fg6kd Yes they did take them. Instead of giving them an Empty lot to form a community and try helping, they took their homes and forced the people back to having Nothing! They didn't just kick them while they were down, they kicked them down when they tried to rise!
Susan Rogers omg...I can’t understand how people can be so mean, heartless! And comming from people that are supposed to watch for the safety and quality of life of their population...what a shame
WOW!! THAT'S AWESOME!! I THINK THAT ALL OUR HOMELESS AMERICAN'S AND ALL OF OUR HOMELESS VET'S DESERVE TO HAVE A TINY HOME THEY CAN CALL THEIR OWN!! IF IT WASN'T FOR OUR VET'S, WE WOULDN'T HAVE FREEDOM NOR A COUNTRY TO LIVE FREE!! THIS COUNTRY SHOULD TAKE CARE OF ALL OUR VET'S CAUSE THEY DESERVE EVERYTHING THIS COUNTRY HAD!!
With what is going on with COVID-19, I hope people will start doing this all over the country to help the homeless. I am in Austin, TX and would love to see this here too. There is a great group called Community 1st! I was thinking it would be neat to find homeowners who will let a homeless person live in one of these tiny homes in their backyard. Let's start a movement!
What they're really afraid of is free housing. If housing was a right guaranteed to people -as it should be - or something people could just build themselves or get for free, the landlords and banks wouldn't be able to profit from it.
if the government doesn't want people to have benefits like section 8 housing and the tax payers don't want homeless people wandering their streets, why don't they designate an area of land on the outskirts of the cities for the homeless to set up camp...old rail road storage containers could be donated to transform into liveable homes...wooden storage sheds can be used as tiny inexpensive homes if the homeless can buy them for themselves or make monthly installments to the government if they will purchase them to distribute to the homeless...
I am a trash picker too but no place to build things anymore since I am homeless from a thief business partner. But this idea is the most innovative and wonderful. I wish I could combine this idea with some money and kick off a big plan for homeless
There are some wonderful people in this world. It is also time authorities treated homelessness as a social problem rather than the victims like criminals. I own my own home but recently took in a lady who had been homeless for years through no fault of her own. I in turn receive extra income from a room that has sat dormant for months.
Hi Greg. What are the dimensions of the home and do you have a cut list? I realize the door and window size would change depending on the material used, but I'm looking to replicate this idea here in Tucson.
yea but the only trouble is ima only interested in alt housing or tiny house state wide!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but thank u all for what u all do so hugsssssssss !!!!! n thanks .................
Me and my kid was once homeless no where to go to turn to god is guiding this man and god bless him for listening to the lords word shows he has a spot in heaven for sure
There is already tiny house village in oregon with this same idea. I think it's a really cool way to help the homeless in more rural areas at the very least, but I'm sure it could be adjusted and implemented in more populated areas as well. Here's a video on their community in oregon called Opportunity Village ruclips.net/video/PgDiS7Q-FUw/видео.html

Greg is amazing!!! The light and heart for many people. He is an inspiration!!! Thank you!!!
City administrators showing up to ruin their efforts, yet they haven’t looked or found solutions themselves. Unbelievable!!!!

they should have provide materials..they just ride and have the credits.

🚩They should teach the homeless how to build their own home and by doing that they are learning a skill.🚩 ✌😁👍

The rich there should be homeless!
That is why the rich peoples homes are burning and being destroyed in mud slides. Their behavior does not go unnoticed.

Good job, Greg. I would like to know how local authorities are reacting to that, at present...

This is doing something PRACTICAL to help in a situation where, it seems, not many want to help. Blessings upon this gent and his team of helpers.

If it was that easy to build a home and live in it people wouldn't be homeless with all the rise in rent and mortgages
Now the city needs to put up land so they can leave their home on, definitely set rules but I believe it would work
