Would have loved to see a 280mm AIO in here for comparison too.

in my experience they perfom very similar to 360mm.

I'm glad you started doing non-itx specific content ;) I would love to see custom loop for 7700X in mid tower case like H5 flow or 4000D airflow.

I‘d really like to see this comparison for the 7950X3D

I wonder, what are the results with the 7700X being limited to 105W TDP.

Can the 7600X or the 13600K be air cooled??
I do not know a lot about water cooling. To be precise, water is very conductive and I honestly do not want to make any mistakes. Down the line I am sure I would encounter leaking (no matter how small) and I cannot take the risk of fixing it myself.

My impression is that the 13600K can definitely be air cooled. Some of the big air coolers like the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE have comparable performance to the best AIOs. Lots of people have the same hesitancy about water cooling, myself included. However, if you are building in a small form factor case, your options for air coolers will be more limited. I had been looking at the Alpenfohn Black Ridge for my mITX build, but it won't fit with my motherboard - and probably wouldn't give me terrific thermals. My plan is to wait until the 240mm Phanteks AIO gen 2 becomes available for purchase.

Thank you very much for your reply! I am not thinking of building an ITX because I live in a warm climate.

@@ionamygdalon2263 No problem! I've been doing a lot of research on cooling, it is the last part of my build that I am still deciding. Is it possible fo you to do a fit check for the pump block and the various B650 itx motherboards? I'm interested in the B650i Aorus Ultra

I learned from my friends that these CPUs easily hit 95C even with 360 mm AIOs. Luckily the new 7800X3D is much cooler but still really powerful for gaming.

They do hit such temps cause their ihs suck i bought the 7900x3d and delided it planing the setup now already have everything i need just modding my nv7 case to fit a 480mm radiator alongside with the top and bottom 360 radiators i will liquid metal watercool it and later add a rtx 4080 or something

I'm literally about to build Ryzen 7700X box in a mid atx case and was wondering do I need 360mm rad. I'm planning to use NZXT H5 flow case which only supports 280mm at the front and 240mm at the top. I know something like Corsair 4000D airflow would be better because you can fit 360mm rad at the front and 280mm at the top. I'm just sucker for NZXT case looks :D I want to start with AIO but eventually will do custom loop so Corsair 4000D makes more sense space wise although I've seen custom loops in NZXT H5.

Generally 280 aios perform similarly to 360s so just go with whatever you like better

I have a 7700x with a 240mm aio and has no issue keeping it cool in the 4000d. It’s not like you are benchmarking all the time, in gaming 240 is plenty

    Thanks for the info. 🙏
The NZXT H1 V2 has just been recently reduced to about £230 here in the UK (low ambient temperatures). I was tempted to buy it and throw in a 7700x into it for my new build. It comes with a 140mm radiator AIO.
Will I get away with it? Am I pushing it? What would you do? 🤔

    • @jeffdmsl

140mm AIO on a 7700X will be fine, just PBO2 undervolt it and you’ll have no performance loss with solid temps.
