The lighting in the village is insane
Everyone gangsta till you realise he’s going over the top
The Night Window scene is easily one of the gorgeous thing I've ever seen in theater.. Another great video Marc 😉
Thank you 😊
How do you know his name
@@donosvann I know him ^^
Me too man! That scene is very impressive
literally roger and thomas wanted to out- do each other
1917 was the most beautiful cinematography of 2019
With portrait of a lady on fire
I'm glad I saw this in IMAX theater
Me too bro.
lucky for you. we didn't even get normal size theater
At first I went to see it in a normal theater and it was an amazing experience. It stayed in my mind for like a month. The music, the cinematography, how it was filmed, how I was part of their journey. Had to see it again while I still could. Went to see it IMAX, it was amazing once again.
Btw funny to see this kind of comment here. I very often see people regretting or thanking all the gods they didn't see or saw Interstellar in IMAX. When it was released, there wasn't that option in Finland. And I only went to see it once though I was fuckin mindblown there after seeing it. Now it would be possible, but no Interstellar... So one of my dreams is to see Interstellar once again in a theater, in IMAX preferably.
It's not IMAX but i saw it in 70mm at my b'day
This was a awesome movie
That shot by the window, with the black silhouette of the face in the foreground, and the other soldier outside in the window frame of the background, when I saw that in the theatre, I knew this show was something really, really special visually. Roger Deakin is truly one of the grandmasters of cinematography. He's on another level.
Why was it that one scene that made you realize it was gonna be a good movie? Elaborate.
@@clitoralrosary9474 Hmm. It was in the earlier parts (early-middle-ish) of the movie, before the equally gorgeous flare scene. I mean even before the silhouette scene the whole movie already was a visual treat, but that silhouette scene really took my breath away. I remember kinda gasping involuntarily when I saw it, it looked like it was from a painting. It was a great movie even before that scene, but that was the special "realisation" moment for me when I was watching it.
War has no winners, only victims.
Roger Deakins movie...might as well just upload the whole thing lol
The beauty is in the lack of (visible) cuts :')
It was easy, the whole movie looks so beautiful.
Roger Deakin is a genius, and Sam as well.
@Louise X I know and i really appreciate his work, his filmography is any film director's dream.
But here I'm admiring Roger's work.
Eastwood Music you do realize Mendes thought out the whole thing right ?
Louise X yeah exactly
@@lewiscarter1229 i do but "it's just my opinion" and i wrote what i felt after watching it.
I know it's really hard to write a screenplay like this (where everything is happening in real time or at least looks like it is)
@@lewiscarter1229 yeah he had the ideas, but he gave those ideas for a writer, and she made the script. Sam is very good, but it's Deakins who made this movie incredible.
Best movie of 2019 without any doubt! The directing, the cinematography, the score....everything is just perfect!
Parasite
The screenplay though...
The best part of the entire movie is when he sits down by the tree at the end. It’s such a symbolic endcap to the entire thing. While the story of 1917 is pretty simple, the nuance is in the cinematography and the details Deakins and the production team throw in. I feel kinda weird when people say that Sam Mendes is the director, because it feels like Deakins is doing almost all of the work (obviously that’s not true, but still). Also, kinda bummed George McKay didn’t get any acting nominations because I think he’s phenomenal.
Love how the video begin with the ending of the movie.
This definitely deserved the cinematography oscar
this is great but i wish you used "I am a Poor Wayfaring Stranger" for the music.
0:41 What a shot!
One of the most beautiful movies ever made. Watching this in theatre was unforgettable.
I watched this for the first time tonight and was amazed by how beautiful some of the shots are. The ending is perfect
This film was a masterpiece.
Is*
such a beautiful movie. that flare scene had me in awe at the theatre. wonderful video yet again!
1917 is a cinemathography archivant.
Roger Deakings and Sam Mendes are a great duo.
This is legit my favorite film ever made, no recency bias needed.
Should have chosen "The Night Window" for the music, it's way more intimate and building.
I agree. That or "Milk".
This film was truly something else. I’m so glad I got to see it in the theatre.
When I first watched the teaser, I looked up who was the cinematographer and I LOST MY MIND when it was Roger Deakins, saw it twice in theaters, first time was in the Dolby theater, and when the Oscars came for the cinematography category, I was praying for Deakins to win, when they said his name, I NEARLY CRIED! The Legendary Roger Deakins deserves more.
This film is a breathtaking cinematic experience.
Amazing video.
'Down to Gehenna, or up to the Throne, He travels the fastest who travels alone.' - General Erinmore (1917)
Bro, they should hire you to create movie trailers, frankly. And if they do, please don't stop with this channel!
Maybe one day 😅
Watched this movie last night. Truly a masterpiece.
Film exceptionnel , la prouesse technique qui sert l'immersion et tout ça avec de l'émotion 😍
I Loved to see the yellow light in last scene from theatre , Roger Deakins
"There is only one way this war ends. Last man standing." Quel grand film 😍
Saw it twice in theaters, would love the chance to see it one more time on the big screen.
1917 is both beautiful yet haunting at the same time.
Beautiful film, awesome video!
I would give anything to watch this movie for the first time again!
Thanks for sharing, loved being an extra in this :-)
my best friend and i work together and we watched this movie after a particularly long and hard day at a retail job and in that exhausted state this movie hit real close to home
‘Road to Perdition’ is another beautiful movie by Sam Mendes! It’s one of my personal favorites and the soundtrack is absolutely stunning! Same cinematographer of ‘American Beauty.’ It’d make my life if you took a crack at it. But even if u don’t, still love your videos! Thanxx
It's a shame the beauty of the one shot technique can't be entirely shown in a short video.
Yes! I've been waiting for this, thank you!
Not one of Mendes’s best films story wise but visually, oh my god. I cant even put it into words.
Beauty of little miss sunshine? Excellent video my guy.
I do acknowledge that there are many many talent cinematographers out there but no one even comes close to brilliant and genius of Sir Roger Deakins. The man truly sees the beauty in this world.
Some dark and yellow/orange high contrast night scene ? Yup, definitly a Roger Deakins movie !
"And do you know Yutivich, it's gonna be a masterpeace!" It's from
Ingloruous Basterds, which I really waiting from you, and of course 1917 is a masterpeace to)
*You know something Utivitch? I think this just might be my masterpiece.
@@derfanddarf1 Sorry, I'm Russian

The last best movie I saw in theaters with my dad before Covid hit...
Awesome editing!
Cant wait for the blu ray release.
Such a beautiful work of art...
Would loveeee to see one of these for Jarhead. Super underrated flick, and shot absolutely gorgeously
Idk if you could do this realistically but this video would really be perfect with wayfaring soldier playing. That scene hit so hard in theaters.
Beautifully done movie
I waited a long time for this video❤️
Thank god I got lucky enough to see this on a IMAX screen

Roger Deakins 🤩🤩
This video isn't long enough to show the beauty of 1917, it should've been 1:58:00
Such an amazing movie
