Absolutely deserved Oscar win. As a German, i am surprised about how insane this movie is. Our country usually produces trash movies, but this is an absolute masterpiece
I was gonna say the same thing. I'm Italian, and we too have no middle ground: either masterpieces or trash. This movie is one of the most beautiful German films I've ever seen.
Although even though Bardo by Alejandro Gonzales Iñarritu has by far the one with the best cinematography in his filmography along with The Revenant and my favorite in collaboration with Darius Khondji, I have to admit that AQOTWF has great cinematography, with good shots, incredible war sequences, and that it is all cold and at the same time heartbreaking in terms of deaths, there is no doubt that it deserves the Oscar.
@@diegoperleche5177 Bardo definitely had the 2nd best cinematography in the category. I don’t like the film very much but the cinematography was stunning.
For real. I know it was a huge deal with Top Gun: Maverick not being up for Best Cinematography at the Oscars that year, but this movie would probably still have won. Even when I saw the trailer, this was one of the best looking movies I had seen all year.
@@stewyyishim Hey, I know Batman has the best photography, but compared to BARD made by Darius Khondji (my favorite), NOPE made by Hoyte Van Hoytema, BABYLON made by Linus Sandgren, EMPIRE OF LIGHT made by Roger Deakins, TOP GUN MAVERICK made by Claudio Miranda and the same AQOTWF made by James Friend narrowly surpass him. And don't worry, Greig Fraser can win another Oscar in Dune 2
An amazing, impactful movie, with incredibly cinematic shots, beautifully horrifying. Thank you for this Upload, Amazing shots! Definetly did the movie justice.
If the 1930 version and the made-for-TV version are very good, the German and Netflix-made version is not only a great adaptation by Erich Maria Remarque, but a great war movie, surprising and terrifying at the same time. Deaths, shots, explosions, cold, fire, mud, and a lot, and a lot of brutal violence and well deserved for best international feature film, photography, and production design, but as for the best soundtrack, they have many debates on that, but hey. If these Germans have some quality together with Netflix...
Absolutely my favorite best movie of 2022. The scene of the french soldier death brought me to tears. Oh, man is a beautiful movie about the nonsense and brutality of war.
Wtf. I haven't seen it yet. Waiting for the right moment. But woooooow. I know a lot of german movies (I am german myself) and all I can say is none of them comes even close to how good this Looks. Holy shit... I didn't even know this is possible for modern german cinema
What would happen if Emmanuel Lubezki did the photography in a war movie? I mean, because if Roger Deakins dazzled us with Jarhead and 1917, he could also do it with his incredible photography.

Can you make a video of amazing shot of all movies for each year ?
Absolutely deserved Oscar win.

Wasn't the series Dark highly praised as well. It is also cinematically beautiful i think.

Wait what about that amazing series "Dark"? That is a mind-bending masterpiece for me❤
the movie was beautiful but the story was so ass. They completely butchered the original story and went with ridiculously over-the-top cliches
This movie won the Oscar for Best Cinematography and I think it was very deserved.

Facts
I was lucky enough to see this in theatres and holy shit it's criminal this didn't get a wide theatrical release
Winning academy awards for best cinematography of this year 👏
Of course after won the BAFTA and British Society of Cinematographers
Best well shot film of 2022. And of the best war movies ever made. It’s up there with Saving Private Ryan, 1917, and Dunkrik.
the batman was better shot

Honestly, if you think Saving Private Ryan, 1917 or Dunkirk are good war movies - I recommend you watch Schindler's List and especially Pianist.
the cinematography was excellent but the story was so ass. They completely butchered the original story
One of the best movies i ever watched!

All quiet on the western front is one of the best war films cinematography & beautiful storytelling the acting amazing

This is like 1917 with the raw atmosphere of Chernobyl.
Yes 1917 and this have some similarities in composition and blocking in some shots

This movie and Everything Everywhere All at Once were very popular at the Oscars this year.
This one is special to me
It really felt like Emmanuel Lubezki
