When you show your cut stick as a demonstration please turn it so the camera picks up the angles from the side. Straight on they all look the same.
I had my feet caught in a snare trap once when walking in the forest. Lucky, its was just small enough for me to escape. Any bigger, I would have been helpless with tied feet.
