Hi and good morning Corporal Kelly thank you allway's look forward to you're video's don't allway's get to watch them right away the three on how to read a compass and navigate we're great 👏👏👏👍👍👍ha I was the one that asked you to do a compass video now you know who to blame 😆 keep up the good work and keep the video's coming well have a good day 😆 I salute you Corporal C😎😎L Kelly 😆 C😎😎L
I've came across a trap called the Siberian deadfall trigger by sabal trappers. I reckon this one is the best I've made to date, very sensitive and easy to make.
As I am a father and husband who lives in South Africa I have had to take extreme measures to ensure my small little families survival if and when our country falls apart, we have many many problems here. Thank you so much for posting both versions as it would be very hard to obtain the first trap setup due to posting etc, will make sure to master that second version. Keep well and blessings from my little family.
Every time I watch one of your snare/trap videos I'm reminded of the trouble I got into during SERE for using a swinging log dead fall to take out a deer. They weren't impressed with my logic that it feed my partner and I for a week. No sense of humor.
My dad was special forces here in the UK, and he taught me a lot when i was younger, but how much of it i can remember is actually gonna cause problems if i do find myself in a survival situation...so, I've been relearning. these definitely make it easier tho for a newbie. I've also been learning lock picking (for urban erm... foraging :) as well as knot tying, tarp setups, water purifying, knot tying, compass reading, fire building, shelf stable food prep, etc etc trying to cover the all important C's as well as some other life skills i guess. But i'd really like to see you do a video on climbing and rappelling. i do actually know a technique for rappelling using only a rope but it is different from what my father originally taught me so i'd definitely be invested in seeing some different techniques as i'm sure there are more than one. and how to ascend after abseiling? i heard a guy talking about using a prusik knot but did not show a demonstration. love all your vids! happy trails :)
I like the simple trigger on the wooden deadfall. Went out in the back yard and made one in just a couple of minutes. I do believe there is a limitation with regard to bait. If you smear peanut butter on the string, great. But, if you are out in the woods without something to smear on the string, how do you bait the trap? I might be able to unwind bank line, insert a seed and then tighten up the strand. The ease of set up makes it worth experimenting with and trying different types of bait. Thanks for the vid.
Excellent video as always Corporal, informative detailed and visual. Takes me back to when uncle showed me and cousin large scale tree deadfall. Thanks for the nostalgia and keep passing on the skills.
love the simplicity of both traps. I've been making steel Figure 4's for a few years now. We're not allowed to use them except in an emergency but handy to keep in the car, etc.
Good video cpl. Kelly, Thanks, the string trap is the first time I have seen it. I’ll try that one on some field mice in barn this weekend ☠️ Outstanding !!
My thoughts exactly Shawn and good articulating the problem with deadfall traps but I do like the simplicity of the PDF-4 jig and will give them a try.
Very good, you can take either one - $44 vs. free - or have both, 5 PDF-4's and make 5 of your own triggers and traps and place them in places you have seen tracks and you are set. Like you said, the more traps you have, the greater your chances of getting food. 5 is good, 10 is better. Again, a very good and informative video. Thank you. Here, skill out does gear.
Once again I compliment you on taking the time to demonstrate everything clearly and slowing so we can actually see and understand what is going on. A little disappointed there ws no bacon.
Another Gem in a field of knowledge. Its a sight that some will never get the knowledge of getting their own food. The one thing that I haven't seen is you carrying a weapon. I know its not PC to carry to some people, but if they only knew how much of a comfort, and necessity it is to have a weapon handy. Even a .22 wheelgun would work in most cases. May be someday you can cover the necessity of having a firearm ready in the event it may be needed. Keep them coming Cpl. Love your vids.
I do enjoy carving out dead falls but I camp/train in desert canyon environments. On long treks in the mountains there's not always resources to carve traps so i'll be getting some of those pathfinder figure 4's to add to my kit
keep these traps and trap triggers coming ....its such a useful skill that never gets old , atleast for me anyway . trapping as a survival skill should be at the very top of skills to be practiced till you are able to do it with your eyes closed , Thanks Corporal !!!!
Hi, i have never used a figure 4 deadfall...after this video i dont think i ever will..the promontory peg with cordage seems the way to go for me:: excellent instruction👍
Man, I'm not carving a damn thing. I've seen so many video's where the trap failed and I've experienced that myself. I'm getting the metal figure four.
Great video, thank you! I love the bait string trigger setup, simple and effective. Nice Arapuca bird trap on the wall. Oh, and, you just sold a set of the pdf4 deadfall setups!
Great video as always! Quick Question: how do you determine the proper log to use as the deadfall weight? How heavy? Does it have to be a specific shape?
The only concern I’d have with the pre-assembled metal figure 4 deadfalls would be with rust developing on the pivot pins making the joints not move. Probably not really an issue though. I’m sure they’re made with a high enough grade of stainless steel to keep rust from forming being as their intended use is in an outdoor setting.
I have been a fan of the PDF-4 since SRO brought them out. Why would you carve one when you could use the PDF-4 in seconds? I like that second one though. That's slick. When you mentioned Ron Popeil I laughed. I have the rotisserie and its great. Nice video...
Trapping has always been my weakest skill, which is why I should work on it more. I eyeballed those PDF-4s after the Bushcraft Weekend at SRO awhile back. Might have to give one a try, but I like your simplified Promontory peg approach too. Good stuff again, Kelly. S/F
This is completetly random but also relevant, was watching a robinet video on here and no joke your easy traps video came up as a 9 minute ad. or i should say this video here was on there as an ad, just thought i'd let you know that your content is amazing and even being broadcast throughout youtube.

Ruck On! Just visiting/re-visiting your old videos. Running 12 tabs at the same time. Hope it helps you out.
I've came across a trap called the Siberian deadfall trigger by sabal trappers. I reckon this one is the best I've made to date, very sensitive and easy to make.
Is there anyway to buy this in the Netherlands?
The discovery channel needs to quit playing around and give this guy his own tv show already.
AGREED!!
The Survival knowledge the Marine has could save lives I agree Completely Corp Kelly
Needs a Discovery Or Other Internet Television Series !
One of the best instructors on youtube ,easy to understand and explained very well. Iv learned alot from this guy.

Great one Corporal, thanks.
Videos like these always make me "stick around"
Thanks please share them with others
Thank you so much for taking the time to try and help people weather a coming storm. I really appreciate you.

Good skills liking that logic..
Wish I could've seen that beauty
Never go full ewok 😂
I would love to see that video/trap.
So you were that guy, lol
Oh my. I remember making these traps a long time ago on the farm. You brought back many fond memories with my father and siblings. Thank you.
My dad was special forces here in the UK, and he taught me a lot when i was younger, but how much of it i can remember is actually gonna cause problems if i do find myself in a survival situation...so, I've been relearning. these definitely make it easier tho for a newbie. So simple and yet genius at the same time. Thank you!
As always…terrific short informed presentation. Thank you.

Excellent Video!! Thank you for showing how these time saving traps are set! Your instructions are easy to follow!!
I adapted the dead fall trap as a trigger for fishing rather than a spring pole, much quicker to set up lots of them.
Do you sell them?
what do you mean your not allowed to use them?
I love the 2nd trap you carved. Super simple.
Great channel and keep up the fantastic work!!
That was truely outstanding - Simple, effective and superbly demonstrated! Thank you - stay safe. ATB Nigel
Well done Corporal. That is the easiest to fabricate and set trap I have ever seen. Many thanks,
Thank you and thanks for watching. Please share this video with others.
Hi Shane, I love the KISS approach, the string trigger deadfall has got to be a winner, you don't even need to have bait!! I love it! thank you
Simple and effective, I like it thank you
This system works well with a milk crate as a cage trap.
That's a good idea. Thanks for sharing!
Good video cpl. Kelly,
Thanks, the string trap is the first time I have seen it. I’ll try that one on some field mice in barn this weekend ☠️
Outstanding !!
I did try a different system before. This is easier to set. thanks again

please, where can i buy a PDF-4

Once again I compliment you on taking the time to demonstrate everything clearly and slowing so we can actually see and understand what is going on. A little disappointed there ws no bacon.

Hi, i have never used a figure 4 deadfall...after this video i dont think i ever will..the promontory peg with cordage seems the way to go for me:: excellent instruction👍
Work smarter, not harder. Thank you for the lessons.
Good video CC I like the D-4 I bought some when they first came out I’ve never had one to break or bend
Awesome video and instruction! Semper Fi
Man, I'm not carving a damn thing. I've seen so many video's where the trap failed and I've experienced that myself. I'm getting the metal figure four.
Smart move. Thanks for watching
Check my amazon link or the description box link
Use a Paiute deadfall, it’s more sensitive than the steel one
it works on ants tho
Nice design on simplifying a dead fall trap
simple and deadly, great video thank you
Thank have never seen the 2nd trap will definitely use it
Great video! Thanks!
Great video. Learn something new everytime. What do you think of the rat traps...also available on same web site? Thanks

Had to hit the like on this one. Thank you for sharing.
I'm going to dig in your channel for that primitive xbow.
I wish youd bring back more of these type videos.
Good stuff 👍👍
Outstanding trap video
Havent seen you for ages on the feed, but man the salute at the end is classic hook.
Great vid also !!! 🙂
Wow this is eye opening tome. Do you often find big log chunks or do you end up using big rocks more?
Great video as always! Quick Question: how do you determine the proper log to use as the deadfall weight? How heavy? Does it have to be a specific shape?
Different from all the other content I watch of yours but useful regardless and may benefit me 1 day.
Very good, Thank you very much
This is great thank you
