I feel so lucky to have found this marvelous recording. It is very moving. I thank Les Cris de Paris for their dedication to their art, and the gift to us all of this beautiful performance.
it's almost a shame that this wonderful french ensemble outperforms every german Choir and Baroque-group recording music of one of their most important national composer haha. Best Schütz concert I ever saw! I especially have to compliment the choice of tempo. There are way too many (professional) recordings of Schütz that are in my opinion way to slow and sluggish. This recording however handles it perfectly, showing the true action, drama and majesty of Schütz's music.
I agree, with one exception: Vulnerasti. There the Romantic effect obscured the Renaissance affect. By the way: this concert was broadcast on ARTE on the night of the 350th anniversay of Schütz's death. (6th of november 1672, four o'clock in the afternoon)

Are you a troll or joking? Those big wobbly operatic voices? Guess you like you're Schütz to sound like Puccini.
