It does shoot RAW. Be aware that there will be a wait for RAW processing software such as Aperture, Lightroom, and Camera Raw to include the updates necessary to process the RX100's RAW files. The "release candidates" (which may be a bit "buggy", but are available now for download) for Adobe's new Camera Raw v. 7.2 and for Adobe Lightroom's new v. 4.2 were announced yesterday, but waiting for a final release update version, and you might be stuck using Sony's included software for a while.
@Harnish Patel The RX100 saves pictures as compact JPEG files and/or ultra-high quality RAW files. RAW files save images prior to de-mosaicing, white balance, sharpness and color enhancement. This retains maximum latitude for enhancing the image on your PC
Hi, I just picked up this camera today, as I was looking for a decent point and shoot camera. That I can take with me to a concert. That being said, what settings would you suggest for an indoor concert? Thank You
Stage lighting is tricky, especially from a distance. Try AUTO first. Then try the "High Sensitivity" mode which allows you to shoot images without a flash under low light conditions, reducing blur. >Mark
B&H Photo Video Thank You so much for your input. I’m pretty close to the stage, so that should be a plus! Only need a few decent shots☺️ Thanks again!!!
@TheCuriousSkeptic Alot of Sony's current video cameras are able to shoot in 60p. I am not able to explain how they are achieving it but they are pushing it out on most new models that have been shipping.
If you don't mind compromising the size, I suggest get a DSLR. I pack a lot when I travel and carrying another bag for a DSLR is not an option so I'll stick with this all rounder gear.
can i do facebook or youtube live using this camera? and y is its optical zoom level so low ( 3.6x only) while even basic point and shoot cameras today come with an optical zoom of minimum 5x?
Unfortunately, the RX100 has been discontinued. A more current version, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VII Digital Camera, BH # SODSCRX1007, is able to be used with Facebook Live or RUclips Live by way of an HDMI cable and the Elgato Cam Link 4K , BH # ELCL4KGCD connected to your computer. bhpho.to/3savTsc
@@Benoynelson Being that the RX100 does not have a clean HDMI output, it would be unable to transmit a live video without the current functions displayed on the screen when using a live stream device connected to it. I'm very sorry.
*If* front pocket jeans carrying, & poster-sized prints aren't deal-breakers for you, the rumored to be soon announced successor to Olympus's XZ-1 should also be worth a look, as should Panasonic's new LX7 announced last month. ND filter, hot shoe, VF/accessory port, a time lapse function, 70MB of int. storage, & separate battery charging, all missing from the Sony RX100.
For landscape photography... bridge camera vs a dslr midrang {sony hx400 vs canon 700d}.....is there any difference.....??? because, both have pro features P S A M.......i want to know the quality of pictures...
I'm trying to find a good camera to do more RUclips videos/vlogs with that won't break my bank. Looking at something like this or maybe a bit cheaper if possible...
I would consider the PowerShot G3 X Digital Camera from Canon. The Canon lens offers a fast maximum aperture range of f/2.8-5.6 for operation in a range of conditions while the zoom range extends from a wide angle 24mm equivalent to a super telephoto 600mm equivalent. Also, full HD video recording at up to 60p and the ability to output the video live over an HDMI cable. bhpho.to/2jvTcrY >Mark
Absolutely, it is a very capable point and shoot with excellent image quality. The Mark III version will add a built in viewfinder, as well as a redesigned lens for even better low light performance, but with slightly reduced optical zoom. Overall Image quality however would be comparable. *Andrea
Can´t be requesting hot shoe - viewfinder and some super grip and low light performance of a Pro DSLR etc in a camera that small - there is nothing so powerful in that size - of course there are few minor things that Sony could improve - but as for as IQ and quick access to menu items etc the RX100 is best in class - had mine for about a year - one thing I would like to see is 1.8 - 2.8 for full zoom range - as a next version but otherwise an awesome camera for its size
eh....at the price range 600$ i prefer getting a DSLR camera rather than this....if it is around range 200~300 i prefer micro 4/3 which gives much better quality compared to those point and shoot
Tech1Tv : What you think about RX100 2? The new backlit CMOS sensor promises better performance in low light situations. The hot shoe and the ability to use external flashes or a viewfinder is great news. C h u c k askbh{at}bandh{dot}com

@GanEdenVideo The camera is switchable NTSC/PAL so it will shoot in 50p

I just purchased a Canon S100...if you just need a good walk around camera is does just fine. Spend these kinds of dollars on a good used DLSR
@TheCuriousSkeptic At 1080/60p the RX100 needs about 28mb/s. --Jim

Your videos are shot in very soft and pleasing light. How do you achieve this?
