This is a great song, and Triumph had some similarly brilliant tunes: "Fight the Good Fight," "Hold On," "Just a Game," "Somebody's Out There," and more!
You just jumped down the Triumph Rabbit hole. They are an amazing band. There songs are always uplifting with incredible Lyrics. Here are a couple of songs to check out. Fight the good fight, Follow your Heart, Hold on, Never Surrender, Somebody's out there and Lay it on the Line.
I'd add a few of Gil's songs just to round it out - Follow Your Heart, Allied Forces, and Rock n Roll Machine. OH!! And for some truly epic musicianship, Moonchild\Blind Light Show and Ordinary Man
It's not just compared to typical song lyrics today. Triumph' lyrics were generally more positive and uplifting than other bands of their era (primarily 80s). That's not to say there were other bands in that ear with positive and uplifting lyrics, but just that Triumph was more so than most. "Fight the Good Fight" is one of their biggest hits and another example of a positive Triumph song.
I think we really listened closely to music back then because we didnt have other distractions like smart phones and the internet. We invested a lot more time in listening to entire albums, and when we went to a show they had our full attention. We weren't trying to record the whole thing or recording ourselves watching the shows.
Rik is so underrated, the voice, the guitar play and the positive lyrics! I wore this freakin album out on my cassette tape back in the day which had Scorpions Blackout on the other side. This WHOLE ALBUM is fantastic Ace! Second favorite Canadian band behind only RUSH
Yeah, u hotta do a few from the US Festival. Saw them 3 times in their heyday. Rik Emmitt is perhaps the most underappreciated musicians in history. He does the vicals and is the guitarist. 3 man band, btw
I am that girl hiding under my blankets with nothing but an AM/FM clock radio! I have always loved this song so much. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song by them that I don’t like though True story. I got broken up to “lay it on the line“ when I was 16. ❤
I think there was a time that Triumph helped me get through life a lot they were definitely I could say a lifesaver for me and yes the music that was just so different than now a lot more heart and soul and emotion put into it I say it was real I don't think that's the case anymore and some instances
Great, under-rated band. Another of them from Canada, and that is coming from an American. Triumph, April Wine, and Killer Dwarfs (yes, I went there...reallly good metal band that should have been bigger)...these are from the top of my head. Sure, we all know about Rush, Neil Young, BTO, and Loverboy, but there were some other great, underappreciated artists coming out of Canada.
You should check out the Headstones, power rock , awesome vocals and of course ,Canadian Start with Tweeter and the Monkey man, crazy good Bob Dylan cover, long Way to Neverland kicks also
If you start with Triumph, you'll soon realize that this is one of the best bands of all time! Bon voyage in Triumph!

If you love this, you need to check out their performance at the Us Festival back in 1983

Music back then was made by professionals that played instruments like craftsmen...

All that sound coming from 3 very talented guys!
I think it’s something about the water in Toronto lol.
Timeless classic. Takes you right back to better times. This one automatically goes to full volume everytime it comes on.
Perfect rock song. Brings me right back to listening to my favorite DJ’s on my little transistor radio and driving in my car.

When you get the time, watch their performance at the US Festival (from the 1980s). Thanks for checking them out.

A Great Band uses more than a Guitar and drums like this band !
You need to see them live. Either the US Festival or Halifax..

So underrated band. Triumph 🤘 👍. So many great songs 🎵. Rik is amazing singer & guitarist 🎸.
I wish you'd do the live versions!
Triumph Fight the Good Fight
If something as simple as a song can bring a smile to your face, theirs hope for the human race.
Talent is an understatement. Another great band from Canada. All that with a three piece band.
