This time I'm making traditional Japanese dumplings called sanshoku-sando & mitarashi-dango. They're pretty easy to make and tasty. I think he literally sees his cats different than most pet owners do. Giving them a LIFETIME of constant interaction and experiences. They’re sooo safe and nurtured. It affects the way these precious beings interact. I wish ALL humans treated animals with such respect!

I remember when my daughter was a toddler she wanted to try dango after seeing it on an anime. I tried to read up on how to make it but felt a bit overwhelmed and didn't know where to get most of the ingredients. But now that there are more stores near us that sell all of the ingredients I might have to give it a try. Your video makes it seems way less over complicated and it's so peaceful to watch. It keeps my anxiety at ease. Thank you for your beautiful videos! I love those cats too! So cute!!!
They also sell them frozen in Chinese food stores. I think it's the same thing, though after simmering Chinese serve it in a sweet broth rather than grilling.
@@recoil53 it's not the same actually, the ones you get at the chinese store are called tangyuan,. while they use the same rice flour dough, tangyuan are a thin skin of dough surrounding a (typically oozy) filling. completely unskewer-able, unless you want to get super hot filling all over your hands.
I had to test the cat bean softness when it was mentioned, luckily I have a ready supply next to me on the couch as I watch this video. Happy to have JunsKitchen on the screen again!

My most vivid memory is when my dad used to come home from work and bring me hot mitarashi dango that he picked up on his way. I have not been able to find in Toronto it since I moved here, and was not able to find a good recipe. This recipe brought back my childhood memories! THANK YOU!

the opening segment you do where you gather ingredients is always so idyllic and peaceful. it really sets the mood for the whole video. so glad you get to cook in your dream kitchen after ten years! gosh, it really doesn't seem like that long. here's to many happy years making delicious food for the people you love.
The beginning segment with the walk was soo peaceful. It'd be nice if we had a walking series with jun and his cat going around beautiful areas like that with calm music.
There's some interesting similarities between hanami dango and Vietnamese "banh bo hap". Both are pink, green, and white sweets made with rice flour. But banh bo is steamed with yeast to make it spongy, and is optionally served with coconut milk and peanut pieces. It's my favorite dessert to get with Vietnamese sandwiches!
I don't know about the others, but I would SO buy a cookbook of Jun's recipes. His food looks amazing and the way his does it makes it feel like, as long as you have the space necessary, anyone can make these recipes, even with little technical knowhow or cooking background.

Please everyone remember that he most probably used glutinous rice flour! A friend and I tried to do the sanshoku dango but the texture was very off since our stores only sold regular rice flour Otherwise, I wish everyone who reads this good luck recreating them and thanks for the lovely video!

I can't express in words how happy I am to see you posting again. I followed your channel a few (it feels like so long...) years ago back when I was in high school, I believe. I was battling with things no kid should have to endure. Extensive trauma, untreated mental illness, suicidal ideation, and a lack of familial support to name a few. I remember your crepe video was the first one I ever watched, and it made me so incredibly happy to see your cats in your video. I loved how you included them into what you were doing. Additionally, I fell completely in love with the beautiful music, the artistry of your cooking, and the overall calming atmospheres you set for your videos. You and your videos became such a huge part of my coping mechanisms, and I turned to your videos often when I found myself on the verge of breaking. I am proud to say that I have seen every last video multiple times over. While you and Rachel have been moving into your new home (congratulations, by the way!! that's huge!!), I've been occasionally popping by your adventures channel to see how you all are faring. It made me extremely happy to see that Nagi is liking the wheel so much. I think Nagi is my favorite of your cats. I loved getting to watch your journey with the neighborhood cats, and it makes me really happy to hear that the people in your neighborhood are kind to them and take care of them as much as possible. Training, lots of training. Cats can be trained, but you can’t train them like dogs and the motivation is a little harder to nail down.
I still don't appreciate the declawing and they had Haku since he was 3 months old. I first thought he was adopted and someone else did it.

There's some interesting similarities between hanami dango and Vietnamese "banh bo hap". Both are pink, green, and white sweets made with rice flour. But banh bo is steamed with yeast to make it spongy, and is optionally served with coconut milk and peanut pieces. It's my favorite dessert to get with Vietnamese sandwiches!
I don't know about the others, but I would SO buy a cookbook of Jun's recipes. His food looks amazing and the way his does it makes it feel like, as long as you have the space necessary, anyone can make these recipes, even with little technical knowhow or cooking background.

Me to.. It have always amazed me just how clear Juns love for his cats are.. Like he always let them inspect what he is making before using them. All those little actions just shows his love for those lovely and sweet Fuzzbutts.

Please everyone remember that he most probably used glutinous rice flour! A friend and I tried to do the sanshoku dango but the texture was very off since our stores only sold regular rice flour

I can't express in words how happy I am to see you posting again.
I followed your channel a few (it feels like so long...) years ago back when I was in high school, I believe. I was battling with things no kid should have to endure. Extensive trauma, untreated mental illness, suicidal ideation, and a lack of familial support to name a few. I remember your crepe video was the first one I ever watched, and it made me so incredibly happy to see your cats in your video. I loved how you included them into what you were doing. Additionally, I fell completely in love with the beautiful music, the artistry of your cooking, and the overall calming atmospheres you set for your videos. As I was struggling, I often found myself on your channel page. You and your videos became such a huge part of my coping mechanisms, and I turned to your videos often when I found myself on the verge of breaking. I am proud to say that I have seen every last video multiple times over.
While you and Rachel have been moving into your new home (congratulations, by the way!! that's huge!!), I've been occasionally popping by your adventures channel to see how you all are faring. It made me extremely happy to see that Nagi is liking the wheel so much. I think Nagi is my favorite of your cats. I loved getting to watch your journey with the neighborhood cats, and it makes me really happy to hear that the people in your neighborhood are kind to them and take care of them as much as possible. Watching the videos that you and Rachel make together make me so happy, because when I watch them, I don't feel so lonely. It's really hard to explain, but it's like going to a friend's house and spending time with them. Both of you have such a wonderful energy, and it carries through the screen.
I've never commented before, but I was struggling today and I went to go to your channel. I know a part of me was hoping that you would be back to posting, but I was totally okay with rewatching old videos if not. I got so excited to see that you had posted, and my one regret was not noticing you had posted sooner.
