Vids really coming on Chris, and looks a nice bit of water, keep at it and the fish will come 😉🎣👍. Your casting is coming on well and one wee tip when doing the Snap T is think about ‘peeling’rather than ‘ripping’ the line off when you move into the forward cast, this will make the cast smoother and less disturbance on the water and to the fish. Ideally you shouldn’t hear much noise when doing this and it will help improve your chances of catching . Tight lines!
Thanks for another good one- I envy the variety of places you've fished but-that said- the vast majority of my salmon have been caught on a little river near my home in North Wales-and, since I packed in spinning, etc, those I have had have been on a few syndicate stretches which I am JUST beginning to have some sort of handle on. I find those huge featureless pools on the 'classic' rivers quite hard to deal with. They need a LOT of fish to populate them !
I couldn't agree more Tom, it's difficult to know how many fish are coming through. Which river are you fishing on in North Wales and do they do day tickets? 😀👍
Nice video again Chris, The Junction Pool can be really good, especially the deep pot at the end, Shepherds is best fished from where the run off from the back water comes in fish hold just off the centre seam. Then the high bank below the hut can be good but hard to land a fish down there. The Point Pool that Philip mentioned is a great pool to fish but sadly no access now as its owned by DLC. Keep the videos coming lovely to watch
Discovery Land Company, they have bought huge amounts of land including the Taymouth Castle Estate, so the salmon fishing on there has stopped for the forseable future. If you check the following you'll see some of the pools www.youtube.com/@cheshireflyfishing511/videos @@CornishChrisTheFish
Another fantastic film Chris. You're so right it's great to have a video journal of your trips thanks for inspiring me to get going with them. Theo wants to star in your films now 😂
Mend that line when it hits the water and slow the fly down in this streamy water, Chris work the fly, pull the rod back and forth from the butt when line straightens up create movement. Thats a good beat always holds fish.
Thank you to you Chris. I'm also a huge fan of fly fishing for the search of serenity and not so much the fish, and also have an attention searching Sprocker Spaniel called Winston, although never taken him fishing, but would love to. Keep up the great work and you're videos keep me smiling!! Tight lines 🎣 Neil.
@@CornishChrisTheFish Chris you're very welcome, and if it helps a tiny bit in producing more great reels then mission success 👍🏻. Sorry it was in Dollars, I'm currently working in Oman. Thankfully returning to the UK for a week on the Tweed at beginning November 🎣
@@CornishChrisTheFish I've two guided days booked on either Holylee, Fairnilee, Boleside or the Yair Chris. Staying in Gattonside from 4th - 9th November. It's mine and my brother's first Salmon outing. It'll be great to say hi to you if you are local.
@@riflemang176 The Yair and Boleside are both great fisheries, not fished the other two i did videos on the Yair and Boleside. Hope we bump into each other in November 👍
Nice video Chris. I used to fish the Bolfracks and Farlayer beats a lot when they were administered through the Kenmore Hotel which I understand has now been sold. The Point Pool on the Tay fished on the right bank just above the confluence with the Lyon used to be "The" pool to fish on the upper Tay - I had my first salmon out of there when fishing a wooden devon was de-rigueur. If you fished a fly rod before the end of May on the Tay the ghillies thought you needed your head looking at. Anyway if you ever get the opportunity to fish the Point Pool it's well worth a go. Cheers Phil
Thanks Philip, Lower Bolfracks is a great beat to try if you are back in the area and at £20 per day its great value for money. I did a couple of videos from there in March this year. 👍
Been a difficult season, catches have picked up where they have some water in last month. Had 3 days on The Spey at Ballandalloch in early July, water was low and not many fish about (would normally be their best month) managed a 9lber on 2nd morning so consider myself pretty lucky..keep at it🎣
Hi Chris, another nice video and great using the drone. Glad you found the top of the beat eventually! Thats a qood run there and had a fish out of there in the past. Unfortunately you missed out on some of the best pools on the beat. Down the right hand side of the island there are cracking pieces of water. You can cross at the top of the island if the water isn't too high and fish right down into Shepherds. Maybe another visit some time..😊
@@CornishChrisTheFishHere's a video I made some years ago Chris, showing the pools down the far side of the island. Nice video. Recently camped over near Forres and walked some of the Findhorn at Logie - looks like an interesting proposition fishing that gorge. Also just back from a weekend camping at Beauly - the site by Lovat Bridge - there were guys fishing the river there, nice stretch. Further up the glen looks lovely too, and the the Farrar and Glass. Hope you can get some time on those , tight lines sure you are going to get another soon 👍
Great film mate. Yeah once you fished shepherd's you shouldn't have fished the long run below fir as long in my opinion. The meetings at top and the pool below the hut is where to fish.
It’s a hard slog this Salmon malarky. Met a guy who had done 20 days on the Spey and hadn’t had a fish. I’ve not done as much as that but I’ve still blanked on the Dee. The grilse run seems reasonable and I’ve had sea trout so here’s hoping for a better august September never sure about October it’s all about kippers then unless you fish Galloway or the Tweed. Anyway I hope you dispose of the Salmon blues soon.
Thanks David 👍 i will be back up in Scotland last week of September through until 15th November so will be finishing out the season on the Tweed again this year 👍

That would be cool, I've not heard of Driffield before is it a salmon river?
@@CornishChrisTheFish it's a chalk trout river in east yorkshire. No salmon unfortunately, buy the trout are good fun!

Just the basic scierra boots. I think theywere £75
