Born in 1977 here, so not knowing Kiss wasn't really an option 😂 my tips for follow up songs by Kiss are 'Rock'n'roll all night' and 'Detroit rock city'. Was lucky enough to have seen them live, although way older than they were in this video (July 2018 in Portugal), still awesome AND a great family friendly live performance, my son who was 6 in 2018 got to know Kiss via a Scooby-Doo TV film and went crazy when I told him that they were not just cartoon characters, they were real and we could see them live. So yup, we painted our faces (I went as Starchild and he as Catman, the singer and the drummer). Epic show. The bassist is Demon, famous for his massive tongue, your reaction was priceless hahaha. The lead guitarist is Spaceman. The whole names and costumes thing is still huge with fans. Glad you got to find them, keep digging well into the 70s and 80s and you will be rocked out of your mind 😎
Been a diehard KISS fan since 1976. Only seen them in concert once, in 1986. Very early in your video, you said "They go hard." IMHO, the music that they were putting out in the years prior to this song, is when the band had a much "harder" sound and style. The song in the video, "I Was Made For Loving You", was too influenced by disco.
This song was originally intended to be a joke. Paul Stanley and his manager had an argument. Stanley said "ANYONE can write a hit disco song" his manager disagreed... 20 minutes later this song was written and became their biggest hit
Stanley was trying to top Peter Criss again. Criss had brought Dirty Livin' as his contribution to the Dynasty record and Stanley met with Desmond Child for lunch during recordings and they cowrote IWMFLY in a few hours The song was recorded shortly after
To be fair, it's always this one because it's the big international hit. When I was about four or five, I used to sit in my older brother's bedroom listening to their albums (I think Dynasty was the most recent at the time) and staring at these strange and extraordinary photos of them; trying to imagine what they must be like in real life. This was in the UK, after all, where they were an import. But it seemed perfectly natural to me that they branched out into merchandise and action figures and all the rest of it (none of which reflected anything going on behind the scenes). And when I finally bought Destroyer on CD years after the event, I still knew every track on it. Which has to be a sign of a good pop band.
Yeah, done that! I've been a fan since 1984 and at that point (between years 1983-1996) they didn't have that iconic grease paint...still after 39 years, I'm loving the band ❤️
Great live band. Huge stage production. Every song from KISS should be seen in concert. More indicative is Rock and Roll All Night and my favorite God of Thunder.
Paul Stanley (lead vocals), Gene Simmons (Bass), Ace Frehely on guitar, and Peter Chris on drums. The most incredible concert you could ever witness....
So glad you enjoyed that, makes me happy to see people discover this song. If I may suggest "Sure Know Something" or "Shandi" as a similar style from KISS you may enjoy.
This from Alive III (1992) rocks. Ace (guitar) plays killer licks and Gene (bass) has a killer lick! 😜 From this album I recommend "Sure Know Something" and "Dirty Livin'". There's even a sweet 12 inches version of the latter. Kool KISS reaction! Made the song even better haha.
I saw them live here in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1994,1997,1999 y 2009. Next month they are here again with they farewell tour. I recommend other great songs by them:Sure Know Something,Hide Your Heart,Heavens On Fire,Crazy Crazy Nights,Domino,Love Gun,Lick It Up,Rock And Roll All Night,Detroit Rock City,Unholy,Reason To Live.
4 octaves (E2-G5 (-C#6)) Paul Stanley is a low tenor singer with a vocal range of 4 octaves (E2-G5 (-C#6))1. He is known for his falsetto and tends to sing in the high registers. His vocal range extends from D2 to E6 and his vocal style can be described as a countertenor.
Love KISS been into them since they started in the 70's. I was school when they started and they were the biggest for all the boys out there. 50 Years later still touring seen them multiple times including on on the current End of the Road tour. Massive shows costumes pyro everything.
Thats paul stanley singing lead in this song. He is or was completely deaf on the right side. He was born with no right ear. His vocals have always been incredible. Ive been a fan of them for years.
Saw them for the first time opening for the original Black Sabbath. Needless to say I won't forget that night, it was an insanely great concert. Try another great Kiss song in God of Thunder, make sure you do a live video, it will be killer. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶
Grew up with KISS in more ways than one. They also do ballads which I believe one of their best ones is named Beth. Check it out. They are one hell of bad.
"Detroit Rock City", and there's and there's an underlying story behind it if you listen to the end. A fan was killed on his way to one of their concerts while jammin' KISS on the radio. It's kind of a tribute.
You need to see Detroit Rock City live performance 2006. Paul Stanley is Starchild & Guitarists & singer *Gene Simmons bass guitar is demon *Ace Frehely Guitarists is Starman & Peter Criss the drummer is Catman 🤜💥🤛
So you seen them with the original members of the band, but there have been other members who had played drums and lead guitar with and without the make-up over their 50 year history. If you think I Was Made For Lovin' You is a hot song, then get you some Heaven's On Fire to view and hear. ⚡️😈💫😼 [R.I.P. 🦊]
There was this thing called "Glam Rock", that maybe the band Sweet was the most famous example, and KISS was meant to be an anti-Glam band while at the same time getting in on the growing Japanses culture explosion, modelling themselves as kind of Kabuki-monster Anime figures. btw: You should definitely follow up KISS with Sweet - "Ballroom Blitz" for a great comparison.
I've seen KISS live 5 or 6 times this was in their disco Era when their popularity was waiting check out their harder rock Era music try Detroit Rock City and Hod of Thundet
Hi Pen pal 👍🏾 Cool you react on Ki⚡⚡... I was 17 when this song was popular in sweden and the most of the girls look just like you its so cool to see that your style still going strong..👍🏾🇸🇪 you make a old man young again 🇸🇪❤️🇸🇪 THX for a traveling journey back in time 👍🏾👏👏❤️🇸🇪❤️
hi hello how are you, I just found your channel tonight, all your videos are very good all these songs make me shed tears and can remember this again oh by the way, which country do you come from and what city do you live in now??
I went to go kiss see a few times as a matter of fact lol one memory that will always stick in my mind I went with my Best friend and his girlfriend when Gene Simmons stuck his tongue out lol my best girl just passed out period we were in the front row not a few feet away from them lol as god is my witness even Gene started cracking up lolol
When KISS went disco. :P I was a teen back in the 1970s and there was Rock and there was Disco and not much in-between. A lot of KISS fans were ....uh disappointed to put it mildly when KISS came out with this song that had a disco flair to it. It's not one of my favorite KISS songs, but I don't hate it either.
@@Ray_____ how old are you? Go listen to so disco beats and listen to this song again. This song when it came out, Sounded "disco-ish". I know because I was a teen back then who grew up listening to 50's/early 60's rock and roll, and late 60s/early 70s rock music. Then came disco...and it had it's own sound. For good reason...it has Both rock and disco elements in the song.
Back in the 70's-80's, I went to almost every concert in the Louisville KY area. Saw KISS too many times to count. Their live shows were cool and different. This performance was past my time and sounds a little too pop for me compared to their older stuff.
"Was he just licking the guitar?" Ha ha Gene Simmons does much more than that. This one is mild. He also spits blood. What else would you expect from a demon? The others are Starchild (Stanley), the Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley), and the Catman (Criss).
Certainly not the best KISS song IMO. But seeing Ace Frehley playing that iconic custom built Gibson Les Paul "Disco Ball" (the gold guitar) makes me smile. Btw.. Rock And Roll All Night is by far the BEST KISS SONG!
Not the best song to pick for your first time listening to kiss. This was their attempt at doing a disco song, and not very representative of their music in general. I suggest the song, rock and roll all nite. Love your reactions, keep em coming.

@Mr. Snickett yes it was. It was one of the disco songs brought up in the argument
Stanley was trying to top Peter Criss again. Criss had brought Dirty Livin' as his contribution to the Dynasty record and Stanley met with Desmond Child for lunch during recordings and they cowrote IWMFLY in a few hours The song was recorded shortly after
Together with Desmond Child and Paul Stanley
THE BEST ROCK EVER HANDS DOWN!!!
I saw them live 12 times. My first time in 1976 at age 7! Last time in 2022 what a ride. These guys changed music and live performance forever.
same here, but i was 9 in 1976. Last time was a couple of years before 2022.
To be fair, it's always this one because it's the big international hit. Nice story telling Alex!
Wow the blonde hair look is stunning ,,and so is KISS ..☺
Great band! There's more to explore with them. Great reaction Blessing
Hi Bruce :)
@@MrsPenPal Hi :-)
:)
I've seen KISS 9 times, I've met them in 2017 and I've even played with KISS -drummer Eric Singer once in 1998
Oh what 👏

That would have been PRICELESS!!!!
Great live band. Huge stage production. Every song from KISS should be seen in concert. More indicative is Rock and Roll All Night and my favorite God of Thunder.
My song by Kiss is Hard Luck Woman.
Paul Stanley (lead vocals), Gene Simmons (Bass), Ace Frehely on guitar, and Peter Chris on drums. The most incredible concert you could ever witness....
It’s Criss not Chris
@@Sadgelizor my bad.
Also...it is Frehley, not Frehely. I will assume that was simply a spelling mistake.🙂
Yes, Paul sang lead on this song and many others.
But all four men sang lead on various songs.
Agreed. Best live performance ever! You want the best? You've got the best! The baddest band in the land.... KISS! Somebody had to say it.😂
So glad you enjoyed that, makes me happy to see people discover this song. If I may suggest "Sure Know Something" or "Shandi" as a similar style from KISS you may enjoy.
I saw Kiss Concert To Montreal in 1996. It was excellent, epic 😎👍✨✨
✨✨✨
Copenhagen, Fall of 1980, when they played this song live on its first European tour. ✌
This from Alive III (1992) rocks.
Ace (guitar) plays killer licks and Gene (bass) has a killer lick! 😜
From this album I recommend "Sure Know Something" and "Dirty Livin'". There's even a sweet 12 inches version of the latter.

I think the Alive 3 version kills the original. Live, this song becomes a totally different beast.

add in "I Love it Loud" and you got yourself a mix.
Another great Kiss song - Crazy Crazy Nights
i saw them in Stockholm last year. For being at their 70's i feel lucky i had got the chans to see them before they quit
I got the chance to see them in concert and yes they are all that and more!!!

"Double Platinum" was the first vinyl I ever owned.
They are from a forgotten era, but we still keep it alive. We're still here and strong as fuk!
Women Rock...Be a fukin' man and they will be traditional again!
Oh, I am SO in watching your first KISS reaction! You never forget it!
Super reaction, Blessing! 😊
Hi Russ :)
Saw them in the 70's. Paid 5 bucks or so for a ticket. Prolly around 1976-1977. Really good show. Chicago.
Grew up with KISS in more ways than one. They also do ballads which I believe one of their best ones is named Beth. Check it out. They are one hell of bad.
“I Was Made For Loving You” is a great track, isn’t it? In 1979, when this was on the radio, it made a big splash. Fun disco rock song.
Check out KISS live on the Midnight Special performing “She” from 1975.
6:05 You might like their 1985 song "Tears are falling", and you get to see them without the make up and armor in the music video of that one.
Kiss Army!!! I even have ALL the Comics!! Great reaction!!
👏👏👏
I saw the KISS Convention in '95 and the reunion tour twice.
Mrs Pen Pal it was awesome watching you react to my favorite band. I may have to watch you again.😅

Yes, Gene was licking his bass.

Not the best song to pick for your first time listening to kiss. This was their attempt at doing a disco song, and not very representative of their music in general. I suggest the song, rock and roll all nite. Love your reactions, keep em coming.
Thank you will dive in
Paul had amazing vocal range,in his prime. Sadly his voice has been in decline since 2010,probably the main reason they're retiring.
If you do kiss rock an roll all night I will subscribe..lol
