I honestly think Rachael is going to be the best part of the movie. Her character is very musical and she does bring a light into the darkness in this story (or she at least tries to) from early screeners of the movie they said she was one of the stand out performances. Also as far as book adaptions go, this looks like it’s going to be the more book accurate adaptation ever. Everything that happens is straight from the book from the two trailers we saw. Even the dialogue is the same!

Zegler's bad press is really a vocal minority. mostly click-baiters. I have seen most trailer reactions. The very first trailer reactions had about 1/3 negative reactions but later ones were almost all positive. So it is small eager vocal minority of haters that are down voting. It will have minimal impact on the box office.
I checked the % of Zegler's presence in the second trailer vs the first, they are almost identical.
Between the book, the cast and the feel of this trailer I think this could be a really good movie, best of the bunch. The trick will be to somehow convey the essence of Snow's internal dialog to the audience. If they succeed, the ending will be quite poignant. Rachel is perfectly cast as Lucy Gray Baird, the district 12 tribute who is a performer in a travelling troupe, flirts with everybody, is 16 going on 35 according to the Dinklage character. She sings some songs from the book which one of the movie producers describes: ' “Rachel often would opt not to do playback, and just sing it live. Often, after they would call cut, people would just go bananas clapping!” Those live on-set vocals will be included in the final product - and there’s one scene in particular that Jacobson’s especially excited for: “The big finale moment…un-fucking-believable. Her voice is jaw-dropping.” ''
And it is Rachel sing 'The Hanging Tree' in the background of the trailer.
I am very much looking forward to the movie and will see it in the theater.

Viola Davis has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. She also has the triple crown in acting. She has won a total of 153 awards in her years since she stepped on stage. I have ZERO clue why any of you would ever suggest that her acting would overshadow ANYONE. When she is cast in a role, she is cast on purpose. You are supposed to be paying attention to her.
There was never ANY controversy about the film- ever. The three of you have clearly NEVER worked in filmmaking. The 1st film was shot with a motion cam- because it was from Katniss’ point of view. The next 2 we’re not. So steady cams were brought in.
Rachel Ziegler has not had enough bad press to effect the film because she is not playing the main character. This film is about Snow, not her.
As of right now- Nobody can do press, they are all on strike. So again, not sure where you are getting your information. There are no press tours going on until SAG-AFTRA is off of strike.
It is truly hilarious listening to the three of you, because the only reason I can come up with all of your reactions towards this amazing group of actresses and actors is blatant racism and outright misogyny- i am hoping I am wrong though. If you dislike their political beliefs and that is making you dislike them as actors I will leave you with this, grow the fuck up. As an adult, you should realize that you can have your beliefs and they can have theirs- you can still respect and honor each-others work. I loved Top Gun, I think the fact that Tom Cruise does all of his own stunts is AMAZING. That does not mean that I like him at all as a person, he is actually a really bad guy. I respect the hell out of the work he does though. So seriously, whatever the reasons are. Grow up.

Im actually so excited for this movie. I read the book and you have no idea what you’re in for. Like yes it does bring back the nostalgia and world building of this universe but the story is so completely new and different to the original trilogy. Its a very interesting narrative of understanding the way Snow thinks and after reading it, everything makes even more sense and has more value regarding Snow and Katniss’s dynamic and ideals.
Regarding the controversy of Rachel Z, I actually think she could do a great job. Like her character Lucy and Rachel are both very strong with their ideals and her having musical talent already is a big plus. It sucks that this early on her career she is already getting a bad rep knowing how much talent she possesses.

I couldn’t care less about Rachel’s bad press, I feel like she is perfect for the role. Especially after all the drama and the way she responded to it makes her even more fit for the role of Lucy gray 😂

The way I view it with the first hunger games and the shaky cam is it feels like you're in the hunger games with katniss and in catching fire it feels like you're the capitol viewing the games from the outside

The style of everything in this movie in my mind further proves the Hunger Games Universe is set in the far future of the Fallout Universe.

We saw a bias against viola davis. And her character is great in the book. You can not like her but she is one of the greatest actress of her generation.

when you guys are talking about the difference between the first movie and the others it might be bc the first one was made by a different director then the rest. They even picked up the same director to direct this movie who made Catching fire onward.

Sry what is so controversial about Viola Davis's political opinions? lol p sure she's not even tht crazy political in the public eye she's just like.. black and a woman w left leaning politics which makes sense.. most artists tend to be liberal lol other than that she's just an a great actress.....

Dr gall is evil and a psychopath no doubt but the series as a whole including this new one is so interesting when looking at the psychology of it all it’s just compelling to see what drives people to do what in situations it’s a real mind trip when you look at all the details of this series it’s so good and even though Rachel Ziegler is in it I don’t care I’m still gonna watch this movie in theaters I can promise you that I’ve been waiting too long not to

What interesting observations! The part Viola Davis plays reminds me of Tina Turner from Mad Max 3. Comparing the two, I 'think' Tina might have played this part a little better, even tho Viola is a really great actress.
Davis plays the role of the "head" of the Hunger Games. In the book this part is 'a woman' - but it is 'not' a 'black' woman. That is a liberty the filmmakers took with this film, making "her" black. Suggesting they added a bit of woke-ism to this film, differing the film from the book quite a bit. Especially because, in the very first Hunger Games all of the blacks lived isolated together in a a ghetto-type district. And it would be the sad death of the young black girl that would spark the revolution. So - it begs the question - how is it possible that a 'black' woman is in charge of the Hunger Games in this film when in only a few short years all of the blacks will be rounded up and living isolated together in squalor?
Dinklage's part I always felt might have been better performed by Johnny Depp. The part is of a drug addicted self-destructive dark soul. So, Johnny Depp? I say, yes.
Rachel Zegler - because we have all gotten to know her 'too well' these past few weeks - should have been cast in the film, "Mean Girls", because apparently she is one.
My only other personal observation, because I've done special effects for films, is 'the snakes'. The snakes are supposed to play a key pivotal role during the games, allowing the girl to win the games. In the preview, to me, the snakes all look like a bunch of brightly colored yummy gummy worms in a glass jar - not very scary. And, bad CGI. Oh, well.
    Enjoyed your broadcast!

@@damienb8568 And yet I find her voice for this roll to be extremely monotonous - boring. A vacuous hole in the film. And, in the book, 'she' is not 'black' - so, the filmmakers bent their knee to woke-ness.

@@damienb8568 The issue is, what every one asks me, "Have I read the book?" In the book she is 'not' black. Even more, in a few brief years the 1st HG movie will show all of the blacks living isolated in a ghetto. "Why" is a black woman in charge, why is she the only black person living free, and why is this different than the book? Meaning, this film is untrue to the book.
