Rarely do you see such an honesty or such deep reflection of what the sport gave him and his appreciation for the support he was given from his peers. One of the best of the series!
What a brilliant episode, I’m a Spurs supporter yet hung on his every word, anyone that loves football will get goosebumps when they listen to him speak about the World Cup
Emmanuel Petit one of the greatest ever and what a magnificent person and story teller that moment of him lying down and taking in the moment of winning the world Cup gives goosebumps
It is surely illegal for someone to be this effortlessly cool! 😎 👌🏻 haha What glorious times to remember. That 97/98 double-winning season for the Gunners.. followed by one of the best World Cup tournaments of all time where 2 Gunners(+ 1 future teammate) lift the trophy four days after my eighteenth birthday! Some of the best memories of my life. (So good in fact, I had to post it twice! 😁) Thank you sir! 🫡 #coyg
What a lot of people don’t know is Emmanuel had a younger brother Olivier who passed away due to a blood clot in his brain while playing football. This must of effected Emmanuel deeply and you can see how he talks about his early years at Monoco being hard. You can see he’s a much deeper emotionally in-tuned person than most.Criminally underrated as a footballer.
You could tell Crouchy and Sid’s are in awe of Manu. Every time he says something, they’re just staring at him and reply with “Hmm” waiting for the next words out of his mouth 🤣. Brilliant lads 👏🏻 Awesome guest 👌🏻
Honestly, this is my favourite podcast now. You guys are all awesome, and bring amazing guests and have real fun (and serious) conversations with them. Cheers boys
Unbelievable episode lads. Wow.... that made me emotional, just so nostalgic. Even as a Spurs fan, was great listening to this. Just wow, honestly, that's the best episode yet.
@@leemcgregor264 Yeah he went to Barca for a year then came back to England. It was a shame for him. Barca bought him and Overmars at the same time as a political move to show Europe that they had the power to attract the best players, but they spent a lot of time on the bench there
@@DMU386 The club was a disaster at that point, on and off the pitch. It’s a shame that Petit and Overmars were used as pawns and got caught up in it all!
Another fantastic guest. Money and notoriety aside, being a footballer really does seem like an amazing experience. The team mentality and the comradeship is something that's unfortunately not found in any other career. I love hearing these stories. Top work guys.
I always tell the story about how I saw France play England in a friendly at Wembley after the 1998 world cup and I was so excited to see Zidane but it turned out Petit was the best player on the pitch as England were calved apart. Such an under-rated player Petit was a world class footballer!
Two things I loved from this… one, it’s time to put the Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes debate to bed… every single pro you hear always says Paul Scholes… and two, there was this way of thinking in recent times that winning the Champions League is better than winning the World Cup because it’s a ‘tougher’ and more competitive tournament to win… but nothing can or ever will top winning the football World Cup… it’s the biggest accolade in team sports, in any sport in the world… the Olympics can hold a torch based on history and tradition, but the World Cup is on its on pedestal
I saw Petit in Denim, a nightclub in Covent Garden on a Saturday night while he was still playing at Arsenal. Leather trousers, shirt undone down to his navel, deffo on the piss. Big fella.
@JamesLenehan-e6z Unbelievable player, think thats why i was surprised with the 3yrs - it must have felt longer due to how good/influential he was in that short spell
Rarely do you see such an honesty or such deep reflection of what the sport gave him and his appreciation for the support he was given from his peers. One of the best of the series!
He seems like a very gentle and humble soul considering what he's achieved. He could narrate audiobooks too
This is the most honest football podcast I have ever seen in my life. Stunned at Petit's stories
What a brilliant episode, I’m a Spurs supporter yet hung on his every word, anyone that loves football will get goosebumps when they listen to him speak about the World Cup
The best one in absolutely ages. I love manu so much
Emmanuel Petit one of the greatest ever and what a magnificent person and story teller that moment of him lying down and taking in the moment of winning the world Cup gives goosebumps
incredibly humble guy, amazing episode, love how he talks about the game still with so much passion
As an Arsenal fan loved this pod and always have love for Petit

One of the best interviews so far crouchie

Never knew much about Manu as I was born in 97 but wow, what a man and a story. Such a great podcast today
I agree with Sid’s. “That was incredible”
Yep didn't know what to expect but this was so good

Great player. Great interview. Great guy 👏
outstanding episode
Starky has gone from being Chris Moyles fluffer to Emmanuel Petit respecting his BBQ setup. Incredible
Was surprised hear he only stayed at Arsenal 3 years - I always assumed/felt it was longer
It’s crazy to think that he was at Chelsea for the same amount of time that he was at Arsenal!
Did he go Barca before Chelsea?
@@leemcgregor264 Yeah he went to Barca for a year then came back to England. It was a shame for him. Barca bought him and Overmars at the same time as a political move to show Europe that they had the power to attract the best players, but they spent a lot of time on the bench there

Hands down the best pod. Absolute class act Manu 👏🏼

Brilliant podcast, what a story teller, definitely deserved a part 2!
This episode is CLASS! Petit is one of my favorite guests so far
What a guest!special guy.love it!
Mate that's the best podcast guest
This was far more insightful and interesting than it deserved to be. What a fascinating character. Thanks for the video.
The best guest to date!
What a great podcast
What a guy
Could be the best episode yet. What a top fella

I thought it was Jimmy Bullard for a second there.
Really??
🤣🤣
the uptick in quality of the pod in recent months has been very noticeable. fair play. keep up the good work guys ✊🏽
winning a world cup is the best thing a player gives his nation....
Everyone who play against know Paul Scholes is the best. Only English fans do not appreciate scholsy as he deserves. such a shame
Best interview especially the start quick fire questions ❤
Gold episode
Petit always engaging to listen to.
He looks like an elf from Lord of the Rings. Crazy likable dude!

The few times when his English is broken is so wholesome ❤ "Back in days" etc.
Its so much better when they do more serious interviews.
Boxing Day fixtures best game week of the season
just reminding him that Pat Rice is still with us, regards to your family Manu
What a great video, He seems like such an interesting person, Thanks - L C
37:00 more people need to believe in themselves, Petit is the prime example of a spirituallly aware person
Wow that was great
Looks like Sid’s could sit there all day and listen to those stories
Unbelievable stuff lads
Nice of Aegon Targaryen to join them !
8:39 ❤
how'd the producer not realise petit wasnt in focus the whole pod
Chris Crouch didnt go Schteve McClaren at all. Wouldn't have noticed it till now
I saw Petit in Denim, a nightclub in Covent Garden on a Saturday night while he was still playing at Arsenal. Leather trousers, shirt undone down to his navel, deffo on the piss. Big fella.
Rip Pat Rice
5:29 And not just WW2. Normandy is very linked to English history.
Can't believe you didn't ask him about The Bill...
"Made in Highbury...finished in Paris". Commentary when Manu scored.
Steve Cleansbootswell
Lovely barnet
He seems more like a Utd player to me than Arsenal, I was too young to have seen Arsenal except from 05/06 onwards
Wow
Southampton or Arsenal fans: who was the black centre back that booted him?
I instantly thought Monkou like Crouchy.
This could have been 3 hours long...
Apparently Pat Rice told Wenger to get rid because of his attitude
The french jimmy bullard
Like tmfo2024 said
Peter u need jimmy bullard next up
Pascal Sauvage has done a lot since Jonny English locked him away
Yei
I know he's a great and no disrespect but Can we have no more French , there voice is too soothing I'm nodding off
Why is bullard doing an accent like joey barton 😂
😂
HE WAS ONLY AT ARSENAL FOR 3 YEARS???
I know! I was shocked at that too
So? Was a great player
@JamesLenehan-e6z Unbelievable player, think thats why i was surprised with the 3yrs - it must have felt longer due to how good/influential he was in that short spell
Better than Vieira. Shame he left
You also need a bigger couch.
orlando bloom wannbee
I can't believe you didn't ask him about his The Bill cameo. But the rest was great.
With David James having a benson. 😂😂😂 top tier bants 🫱🏽🫲🏾
